Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

The V-day breakfast looks great and no, definitely not wrong to drink champagne by yourself. What would be wrong would be letting it go to waste!!! :)

I am looking for more cutbacks in events and seminars at F&W this year but the World Showcase kiosks will likely not be substantially affected. Just sayin

Last year there were no free food seminars on Mondays or Tuesdays, but no telling if they'll do that again. There were wine seminars. In previous years there were free food seminars every day of the week.

I will not be signing up for any meal events costing over $100 that are being held behind a bunch of potted palms in the Pavilion Formerly Known As The Wonders Of Life. Get a room. Just sayin' that too

Holy moley I have a new tag.

I agree with you 100% on everything ... I expect more cutbacks on programming and free stuff while the booths will be left alone 'cause that's where they make money (along with killing floor events). We've already decided that special events will likely be few and far between for us ... we'd rather spend it on a nice dinner. Of course, we could change our minds between now and then but it would have to be something pretty compelling.

Thanks everyone for the great pictures and recipes! I'm so hungry now!! :lmao:

Great thread!!
and that Valentines breakfast looked great! :lovestruc
I hoping to start Bartenders School this spring. so maybe I will have some new recipes to share. Right now I work part time in a Liquor store.
thanks!! I`ll catch up here soon! Carrie

I do believe that the Bendy and Jay fanclub meet will cost us enough... :rolleyes1

Glad to have you here! :goodvibes

Any and all recipes, especially those of an alcoholic nature are most appreciated! :thumbsup2

Hello all :)
OK so v day dinner/brunch pics look AMAZING..as did the chocolate pics!! i am officially drooling!!!
So that Dove Experience party was ok..it was fun to see my friend, but as for the product, it was really just expensive dove chocolate. My mom did order me some very yummy chocolate covered almond/cranberry mix as well as chocolate pretzels as the stuff was REALLY tasty..but like most home shows, its all expensive.
NEWS: we are 95% sure that on the tail end of our honeymoon in October we will be going to WDW!!!!! Not sure of dates yet..but probably in the 22nd range of the month :)

Hey kids! I just posted the first part of our drink-around-the-world-athon over on the Smelly thread. Come check us out when and if you have time.

Gina ... great news! Maybe we'll finally have a chance to meet in the real world! :goodvibes

Whoa... and I was going to go to bed early tonight... NOT... :dance3:

Thanks for all the nice compliments on V-day breakfast!

It would be so WRONG to waste champagne!;)

We have 2 freebie champagne savers from the F&W Martini & Rossi seminar last year. Unfortunately the darn things work! Now I have no excuse for downing the whole darn bottle! :sad1:

I really hope we don't see further cutbacks for F&W this year. :sad1:

carrieannie, You're just what this thread needs! Our own personal bartender!

Brenda, Drinking around the World! I have to admit I've been lurking over there, just can't keep up enough to post.

I think I'll have something to post on the blog soon ... we're taking Jay's parents to lunch at Brio on Saturday ... it's a tuscan grill type place (good food - I'm the only one of us who's eaten there before).

I'm going to have to embarrass the inlaws by taking pictures! :lmao:

And when I get around to it I've got some pictures from dinner on Sunday ... nothing too exciting but yummy nonetheless. :thumbsup2

But don't we all live to embarrass the family??? I do... :flower3:

Michelle, we do still have some Valentine candy left becaue my mom got us each our own bag of candy. Plus every Valentine dd got at school had candy attached. Remember what a thrill it was just to get the ones with the suckers attached? Then you knew it was a really, really good friend!

Carrieannie, great to have you on here! What happened to the chicken pictures? You have to show everybody your chickens!

Everybody else, please say a little prayer for my dh. He stepped backwards off his work truck Thurs., missed the bumper, and landed 3 ft. down with all his weight on his right foot. Doctor says it is a torn calf muscle, yet he is hobbling around working 10-11 hour days. :sad2: Then this a.m. the doctor himself calls at 7:40 to say that the orthopedic will be calling for a followup xray--they think his tibia may be fractured!!! Anyway, we are self employed, so no disability....so he works and hobbles, poor baby. Thanks for letting me vent all that.

On a bright note, we still went out for Valentines and had fantastic food at our favorite Italian place. Love the cajun chicken parmesan (with jalepenos!). Everyone's dinners looked fantastic!

Brenda, A tuscan style grill?! Never heard of that, sounds yummy!

Sorry to come back with more of the same type of pic. But...Dinner last night was the Home Version of a "Nola Style" Roast Beef Po-boy.

I've posted the purchased sandwich shop version. I don't think I've ever taken a pic of one I made at home. I fixed a pot roast on Monday night & this is what we call the debris. The leftover broken up bits of roast in the gravy.

The Whole Thing!

This was not one of my low fat evenings for sure. I've been bummed out lately, so high fat foods, chocolate desserts & cocktails were just a necessity! ;)

My DEARdaughter brought some cupcakes over on Monday. They were made by a former pastry chef at NOLA, one of Emeril's rests. These were Raspberry Chocolate Cupcakes. OMgoodness! Moist, super chocolaty with a moist raspberry chocolate center.

Sorry the pic isn't better! ( I had to do a lot of cropping, my counter was a mess! )

I saw Bobby Flay do this one on tv yesterday. The cupcakes screamed for Rosa, but I still had champagne open from Saturday, so I thought I'd try it. (The champagne saver really works!)

Grand Champagne Cocktail

Recipe courtesy Bobby Flay, 2007
Serves:
4 drinks Ingredients
4 shots orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)
4 teaspoons honey
4 fresh strawberries, tops trimmed
1 bottle Champagne, well chilled
Special equipment: 4 chilled Champagne flutes
Directions
Add the orange-flavored liqueur, honey and strawberries to a food processor and process until smooth. Fill the chilled glasses halfway with the strawberry mixture and then fill the rest of the glass with Champagne.

note: I used Cointreau and used more strawberries than the recipe called for.

LOTS of prayers and Pixie dust :tinker: for DH... tell him to do the best he can, but to not OVERDO it cause it will only be a bigger problem further down the road...

Good luck!!!

Good luck with the presentation ... I should be working on a loan request for work and instead I'm watching Jay play with the wii-fit and I'm cleaning bathrooms and doing laundry and tyring to find you a key lime pie martini recipe.

I swear ... I've gone through one bartender's guide and two ultimate martini guides and there is no recipe listed for a key lime pie martini. Whoda thunk? :confused3

BTW ... I don't know anything about the code that people are buzzing about but I'm pretty sure it's not something that can be combined with DVC - most offers aren't applicable to us DVCers.

Brenda,

Here's a recipe from one of my books. I haven't tried it yet so if you beat me to it, please tell me what you think.

From The Bartender's Best Friend (by Mardee Haidin Regan)
Key Lime Pie Martini
1 oz Licor 43 (aka Quarenta y Tres)
1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz lime juice cordial, such as Rose's
3/4 oz heavy cream

Pour all ingredients into a shaker two-thirds full of ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

And a couple more that might be worth trying:
From The Bartender's Black Book (8th Edition)

Key Lime Martini
Fill a mixing glass with ice.
3 1/2 oz Vanilla Vodka
Dash Irish Cream
Dash of Cream
Tsp Sugar
1 oz Lime Juice
Shake. Strain into chilled glass.

Key Lime Pie (frozen)
In Blender:
1 cup of ice
2 oz Light Rum or Citrus Rum
3 tbsp frozen concentrated Limeade
Dash of Lime Juice
Blend until smooth.
Garnish with Lime and a Graham Cracker.

As an aside, we just booked a trip for August using said 40% code so I can vouch it's a good deal but I'm sure you're right that it doesn't work with DVC unfortunately. The code is snail-mailed or emailed to the recipient and is tied to your name so they can't be shared.

BTW, we're long-time lurkers. I'd say we're foodies in training and we also enjoy a good drink so your latest posts are always required reading to get us in the mood for our upcoming WDW trips and to think about what to try next. And it doesn't hurt that I watch a lot of the same shows and totally enjoy your references.

Joel
