23rd Oct, Day2, Sunday

Still on Uk time so we wake up at 5am. Weather is looking ok.
We got showered and dressed and went down for breakfast. It was a buffet, usual American fare. $44 inc tip. Thought this was pricey but is hotel prices. Roll on Orlando and buffet prices for $20. We get back to the room. Its 9.30 and the phone rings. The call from Virgin we have been dreading. To our relief the ship is sailing, but because of Wilma's path and the fact that she pretty much destroyed Cozumel and left Grand Cayman and Jamaica deep in water, we are now doing the Eastern Itinery which takes in Puerto Rico, St Marteen and St Thomas. Pretty gutted but hay we are sailiing. Only thing is they want us to the port ASAP as they are planning to sail at 2pm instaed of 4pm.

Well from arriving at the port to boarding the ship took an hour. Thats quick and we were expecting to stand in line a lot longer. We are one of the first on the ship which was great as this meant we could really orinenate ourselves with restaurants and find our cabin etc. We then went to the Lido bar and had our first burger of the holiday. Its very hot and humid and the clouds are getting darker. We set sail at 4pm as previously arranged. We get to our cabin and unpack and then at 8pm we go for dinner in the Pacific dining room. We were hoping for an earlier dinner assignment but this is what we got. The food was very nice and after this we got back to the cabin and watched a bit of tv until we fell asleep. Tomorrow is a day at sea.

We LOVE cruising. Shame about Grand Cayman, we were there in March and it was still not recovered from Ivan. Cozumel I can take or leave and Jamaica we didn't like at all. Would like to try St Thomas though, if only for the jewellery - best in the Caribbean!

Looking forward to reading the rest of your report. I love the idea of a cruise but, unfortunately, can't seem to persuade DH.

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Can't wait for part 3.

:) Another Great Report Nickie, off to read the next one!
