Belles World meets Mickeys World
Pre Trip Report
Cast:
Me, Belles World, 26, favourite Disney film: Beauty and the Beast, favourite ride: Big Thunder Mountain. Fan of everything Disney.
- DH, 26, didnt know he loved Disney until he met me, favourite films are Pixar and pirates of the Caribbean, favourite ride: Star Tours.
History:
I started visiting Disneyland in 1993 with my parents; this will be my ninth trip. as you can tell I caught the bug! In 2002 myself and DH had our first trip together, this will be his fifth visit. In December 2004 we spent our honeymoon in the Disneyland Hotel and have since been back to Disney once in 2006. This will be our first trip back in 3 1/2 years and it feels like so much has changed since our last visit. New rides - TOT, Buzz Lightyear, Crushs Coaster and Cars. New parades and shows so everything will be really new and exciting.
Location:
It is my aim for us to eventually stay at all of the on-site hotels. Having previously stayed at Santa Fe on numerous occasions, Disneyland Hotel in 2004 and Newport Bay Admirals floor in 2006 we had 3 options left so went for Sequoia Lodge Montana Lakeside room. We will be here from 14th-19th June.
Travel:
We will be travelling to Ashford on 13th June doing some shopping at the outlet village and then staying at the Ashford International Hotel where we have booked dinner bed and breakfast. We will catch the direct Eurostar at 10.30am on 14th June so all going well will be in the park by lunchtime. We have booked Disney Express so our luggage will be taken directly to our hotel.
Planning:
I have been seriously planning this trip since December so have managed to plan out our holiday so we get the most out of it. I know this will mean we feel like we need a holiday to get over it when we get home but it will all be worth it.
On Sunday 14th June when we arrive in the park we plan to go straight to the hot dog stand in Frontierland to grab some lunch. Then after this do some rides before heading to the hotel about 4.30-5pm. This will give us enough time to check in, unpack and relax before our dinner reservation at Beaver Creek Tavern at 6pm. This is the only night we are there that the park is open until 10pm so we hope to get in another couple of hours after dinner including Big Thunder Mountain in the dark. I also love Discoveryland in the dark so we will definitely be wondering around even if we just go to the shops.
Our plan is to do EMH every day although I realise this might be a bit ambitious. If we can get a 7.15-7.30 breakfast slot each day we should be in the park just after 8am. We are hoping to get a Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast for about 9.30am one day so we can enjoy EMH but still be in line for other rides when they open at 10am. If we miss breakfast any day or cannot get a suitable time slot we will just go to Salon Mickey, as I have just become a shareholder. Also I have had heard breakfast in the hotel after 8am is a bit of a scrum so would rather avoid this. Especially as EMH means we will get more done in the day so we can go back to the hotel to swim some afternoons.
On Monday 15th I have booked lunch at Lucky Nugget Saloon where we have been many times before and find it one of the easiest ways for adults without children to get photos and autographs with the characters. We plan to stay in the park until closing time at 7pm. On the way out we will visit the Disneyland Hotel SHOP and then make our way to Chuck Wagon buffet at Cheyenne Hotel for our 7.30pm reservation. We have read lots of positive reviews about this restaurant so we are looking forward to trying it. After dinner we will visit the Cheyenne shop before going to the garage next door to Santa Fe for provisions and visiting Santa Fe shop before making our way back to the hotel. I always love visiting the different hotel shops, as I always seem to find something I havent noticed elsewhere. It is also the only way to visit each hotel without staying or eating there.
On Tuesday 16th June we have lunch booked for 12pm at Blue Lagoon and have asked for a table on the beach, we also have dinner booked at Buffalo Bills premium seating, we have never been before so have not seen it without Mickey and the gang but am looking forward to the show even though the reviews of the food have not been good.
On Wednesday we have booked dinner at 7.30pm at Café Mickey where we have been a few times before but will be trying the pizzas this time, which we have heard are the best in DLRP. We have not booked lunch on Wednesday but hope to go to Café des Cascadeurs if it is open. I understand that the menu has recently changed but in the past we have had a hot dog, nachos, cookie and a drink in here, which was really nice.
On Thursday 18th we are going to Buzz Lightyears for lunch, I know a lot f bad reviews have been posted but the couple of times we have been has always been fine. We have a table booked at Walts for 3.45pm, I am hoping the parade will still be on at 4.15pm and have requested a window seat so fingers crossed we will get one.
Friday is our last day and we travel home about 7.30pm. We are hoping to have lunch at Toad Hall and then grab a hotdog and a basket of goodies from the cable car cookie shop for our journey home.
Aims for Trip
- Go on all the new rides at least once.
- Watch all the parades/shows
- Try new restaurants - Beaver Creek Tavern, Chuck Wagon, Buffalo Bills, Toad Hall. As well as enjoying old favourites.
- Try to do EMH as much as possible and be at the park gates to be first into the park at 8am at least once.
- Make lots of memories.
This will be our first trip since I have become addicted to pin trading - it really didnt take much. In the past I have always bought a couple of pins every trip - usually the hotel we stay at and a Belle pin. As the £ to Euro rate is so poor at the moment and because I think £6 on a pin is quite a lot I bought a job lot of pins on ebay from America. I originally bought 12 pins for just under £20 including p&p and thought this would be enough for me to swap for a couple I like, a couple for my husband and then swap the rest for our 6 nephews and nieces. Then the 12 pins came and I automatically refused to swap 3 of them. One was a Belle hidden Mickey, one a Mickey Mouse hidden Mickey and the third a Mickey Mouse pin with an attachment. Out of the others there are 2 LE, which I hear you can swap for other LEs at boards, which are put up every day at different times so I hope to find these. There was also a hidden Mickey that I was willing to swap. When I found out Disney stores in the UK were now pin trading I took 4 with me and swapped twice in oxford Street and once in Covent Garden which convinced me that 12 pins was not enough so I ordered another 20.
Apart from my aim to stay at every hotel I also have the aim to have eventually stayed in every month. Including this holiday we have stayed in Jan, April, June, July, August, AND December. My next aim is to go for Halloween although how many years I have to wait for that Im not sure.
When we get back I will do a detailed trip report on each day, a report on the hotel and each restaurant we eat in.
