Many thanks to all who have contributed to helping me plan my first trip to Disneyland! This was a budget trip with the exception of Fantasmic Blue Bayou dining package.
1.) Since we had four days, we decided to save the $120 for Maxpass and just meander through the parks. We aren't the kinds of people that have to ride the big name rides five times in a row. Once or twice a day is plenty for most favorite rides. We wanted to take our time and enjoy the details.
2.) We did not park hop, saving $100. Zero regrets! Plenty to do in each park!
3.) Missed our fp to WOC first night because we were stuck at the broken down RSR. The second night WOC was canceled after only 2 minutes because of winds. So....didn't really get to see if, BUT SUPER glad we hadn't purchased any kind of package!!! I would be so upset to have purchased that dessert party for no show!
4.) Does anyone remember me asking about the Get Your Ears On Mickey Hat dessert from Rancho Del Zocalo? We had it and it was really good!
Jack-Jack cookie num-nums are fine but over-rated, IMO. Enjoyed Ghirardelli (had a gift card, not a Disney one), Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats lemon twist with white chocolate snowcap (IMO, snowcap is pretty but taste is lost on the ice cream), Schmoozies Get Your Ears On Mickey Oreo shake was to die for (my espresso-chocolate shake was good, too). The Cozy Cone bread cone stuffed with mac n cheese and bacon was fun and pretty tasty! We ordered refreshing mint juleps from the Julep Bar along with butterscotch Mickey beignets. Yum!
Flo's fried chicken was beyond crispy, like almost abnormally so...but good! Had a Dole Whip over at the Disneyland Hotel at Tangaroa and it was nice. Would have loved to go back there for dinner for those pineapple burgers under the tiki torches...but my feet would't carry me back over there another night. Stepped into White Water Snacks for a super light meal (tiny prepackaged charcuterie) and beverages. It was nice. Just right as we had overly snacked through the day. My son had Lucky Fortune for dinner twice. He loved it. I had it once and thought it was good! Had the special foam tea. Delicious. More delicious was the brew at Red Rose. We had those twice! So smooth and refreshing! I loved the grilled chicken sandwich with the fried cherry peppers and apple slaw on it! The pommes frites were great! My son also ate there twice. I, on the other hand, went to the French Market and had a delicious salad. Macarons from Jolly Holiday were okay/great. Okay--the dry Mickey themed one. Great- the pink one stuffed with fresh raspberries. We had the bread bowls in California Adventure, one stuffed with chicken salad (nice enough) and the other with Mac n cheese. FWIW, my son preferred the Cozy Cone version. Our first night we had dinner in DD at Naples. It was delicious. My son had an Italian soda. I had a side salad, and the capri beverage. We shared the quattro formaggi pizza. All was delicious and very similar to Via Napoli in Epcot. We had waterside seating for our dinner at Blue Bayou. We ordered mint juleps, delicious salad, wonderful crab hush puppies, steak and the Sorcerer Mickey dessert that is available with the Fantasmic package. Actually, my son had the pound cake dessert that was kind of disappointing. Still, worth every penny! We LOVE the Disneyland Fantasmic!!!
5.) Cars Land is just unbelievable! Just so special (especially RSR at night)! Indiana Jones was another hit with us! I think we went 4-5 times! New Orleans Square is beautiful and your PoC ride is so much better!
6.) Loved the Incredicoaster, GoG and the Art of Animation (miss that in Orlando)!
7.) We were expecting Disneyland/Cali Adv to be so much less than it was. I don't know where or how came by that misconception, but it is really unjust. Your DD area is really great, too! Reminds me of the old DD in Orlando before Disney Springs. I like that size shopping area!
Well, we would love to return. I would love to stay at the Grand Californian! Let me know if you have questions!
