Bell services no longer accept deliveries at disney hotels

Actually anywhere outside the US, right? SW is domestic only?

I don't know if this was a question or not but SWA isn't domestic only but their non-domestic destinations are not as robust as other airlines as of yet.

This is what I said on the News thread (paired down for relevance to this thread):

On the one hand I have zero issues with it on the other hand I totally get how planning a pickup window for physical pickup when on your WDW vacation can be a big stressor.

It's nice though that at least one stroller company (as it was posted by another poster) has pickup at the airport though for some people the point was to not have to lug it around. Either way at least it's an option added.

Or maybe it is that now Bell Services can actually find and deliver guest's bags when they need them. Instead of having to find them in extra locations, as the luggage room is full of ECVs.

Other than the recently-instituted charge to have your grocery delivery then delivered to your room, there is NO change in the grocery delivery policy or practices. Water needs not nearly the space an ECV does.

IDK seems $25-$35 for the 1st bag each way was commonplace back in the day least that's what I remember. We've paid that before, reluctantly, when we flew United I believe. Even though I got crazy deals when I was growing up with my stepmom on Northwest Airlines and Delta as she was a travel agent we still had to pay for checked bags.

Anyways Delta is $30 per way per person for the first bag. We have a Delta SkyMiles CC and thus get 1 free bag per passenger up to 9 passengers though. If you have status with Delta you also get free checked bag(s) depending on your status level.

I have been flying Southwest exclusively for about 20 years. Probably 80-100 flights in that time span. I have never paid to check our bags. Even "back in the day". So what is "commonplace" for you and many others on this board is definitely not for me.

It is interesting to hear what others have to pay, just not something I have ever experienced.

I too have been flying SWA primarily as well but I am aware that other carriers charge for bags and that they have been charging for bags for quite a while now as it is normal in the industry; you don't have to fly other carriers to necessarily know that however according to your above comments you were unaware that other carriers have charged for it and still do. Just passing along information is all--didn't mean much by it

I was unaware that one bag could cost $120 round trip. Not unaware that pretty much EVERY airline except Southwest charges a bag fee!

Ha, ha, YOU have clearly taken MY comments in a way different direction! But, I think you already know that!

It's fine, no worries, we're good! I am always fascinated when I read various message boards and see this very thing happen. One person posts something, another poster comes along and either reads it wrong or misinterpreted it, as has happened between us. I wrote about not realizing that some people have to pay such huge sums of money to fly their bags ($70-$120 truly blows me away!!!) and you take it as me not realizing that airlines charge any fee at all!

I take absolutely no offense at all!! Its actually been fun, because, like I said, I see this very type of thing happen fairly often, but have never had the opportunity to be on the receiving end before. Its been not only fun, but interesting too!

I am glad you are good and don't need to continue this discussion, because I don't think there is anything else that can be said.

No, not prohibited. But didn't they find a way to make money off of the deliveries? So either way, you pay the delivery fee or you pay more for the items in their shop.


I'm sure if Disney could find a way to profit off of toilet usage, and not cause a MAJOR uproar, they would.

Not sure why anyone would be in favor of this or think that Disney is acting as a personal delivery service. The Bottom line, I could see them charging for the service, but the reality with the restrictions that the airlines have on flying with liquids like toiletries makes this a little more complicated for many reasons. One, my family and I like to fly down for long weekends and we don't usually check bags. Not checking bags means you can't bring any toiletries with you in a carry on. Shipping them via Amazon worked great. Who wants to get down there and have to go shopping or better yet, purchase them from a Disney hotel. Secondly, even if you are checking bags, who wants to weigh down their luggage and run the risk of leaks, seems this process will just complicate packing and flying.

And to think someone is going to order stuff to the hotel and wait around for the delivery (FED EX, UPS) to hand deliver it to you, doesn't even make sense. They don't have specific times for delivery. Going to Disney is a first class vacation and you are paying for the convenience of things (as we know, Disney tries to accommodate everyone). Being able to ship things directly to your room or hotel should be an extra fee on your room charges, but it shouldn't be something that is prohibited....And i could see them saying you cant get it delivered prior to your check in date. That makes sense. They shouldn't have to sit on the packages for days.

I also have the locker. But we usually replenish by shipping more toiletries and stuff down while we are there and add them to the locker for next time.

Can honestly say we have been to WDW and stayed on property at least 40 times over the years and not once have we ever ordered anything to be sent there. We fly from New York. We just pack accordingly for the flight. Really not complicated. The same as any other hotel we visit. We pack the stuff we need and bring it.

We stay in DVC units. We do a grocery stop for bottled water, half and half, fruit, beer..
We do bring a few things that can be packed in our luggage.

13 years ago when it was the Peabody, the service was quite refined and the atmosphere far more upscale than AKL - we stayed at both during the same trip. I can't say I tried to have groceries and sundries delivered to either one, but the Peabody did offer full concierge services at no charge (beyond customary tips). That is the point I was trying to make - a 4-star hotel, which the Disney Deluxes insist they are , offers this type of service.

But are the people there at that hotel for the same reason that some other people stay at AKL, etc? It seems to me that shipping tons of stuff to a resort hotel is an onsite/local WDW thing. People do it to save money. Most people staying at other 4 star hotels (that are not there for a Disney vacation) are not shipping tons of snacks and other crap to their hotel. I've stayed in a few high level hotels - you don't ship your Armageddon supplies to a 4 star hotel, unless you are tacky.

Of course they don’t. The idea of paying upwards of $400/night for a room and then needing to carry a granola bar in your pocket for economy is actually kind of surreal. I still stand by the general point though, about what services are graciously provided by real 4-star hotels in the real world. I’m snickering imagining the look on the face of a Concierge at say, oh maybe the InterContinental down in Miami, if a load of chips, bottled water, peanut butter and white bread rolled up, but yet I have no doubt it would be received and delivered to the room.

And FWIW, I’d imagine it’s probably a more common occurrence in the values and mods. I’m not sure I’d expect the same type of service from a Quality Inn or a Best Western. And I do see how the changes will be inconvenient for people needing mobility or medical equipment.

Unless guests used the preferred vendors, they were already meeting the offsite companies for mobility equipment delivery. Medical supplies fly free, BTW, so guests don't need to ship them.
