How early should we secure a viewing spot?

What is the best viewing spot?

"Snow" falls afterwards, correct? Where? All over Main St.?

How long does the spectacular last?

Thanks for any details!

It is standing room only, so it's pointless to grab a spot. I personally prefer a straight view of the castle because they aim the fireworks in certain ways around it. You can also watch IASW and they play cartoon type things on the front -- just a different experience. Whatever you do, do not stand on the edge of a roped walkway. You will have a crowd control CM yelling through the entire performance at people who stop and gawk in the walkway. Totally ruins the mood, not to mention the yellow flashlight waving around in front of your fireworks view (will NOT make that mistake again! :headache: ). It's around 20 minutes and you'll need to hold your little ones, otherwise they can't see a thing in the crowd.

The snow is immediately afterward and there are multiple spots (the maps show them) like New Orleans, Main street, and IASW. I prefer Main Street again (where I usually watch fireworks) because it comes out on either side and the entire street looks like it's really snowing. It also has adequate lighting on Main street in case you're trying to get cute pictures of yourselves with the falling snow. :cutie:

Makes me weepy every time!

I'm going Dec. 22~24, and we want to watch the fireworks in that area with the partner's statue... how early should we be there then?

Thanks

You know, we were there on Main St. after eating dinner at Goofy's Kitchen and made it right in between the Clothiers shop and the Emporium about 5 minutes before the fireworks and we were fine, although it was the last weekend of the decorations, we were fine. There is no way to sit and watch on Main Street and if you did, I would recommend it because EVERYONE is standing all around you and you'll need all the height you've got to see the show.

I have to say, if you have never seen the fireworks, they are amazing. The snow on Main Street is soooo great. I would suggest going for that one because right after the fireworks, they light up Main Street and the snow comes from both sides of the street. With the light bulbs on Main Street and snow falling down with all of the decorations on the light posts, it really is Christmas to the max :)

Here are a few bad photos of main street during the snow, but hopefully you can see it to get the point. It's crowded, but it's so cute to see all these little kids on their parents shoulders reaching up to touch the snow with magic in their eyes (cue sappy White Christmas music)! :wizard:
There's also a bad shot of the castle with fireworks behind it, but you can see how they poise the fireworks to go off in a decorative manner around it.

Last year we stood right by the Photo Shop Kodak place (what's it called?) on the corner of Main Street and the snow fell right on top of us. The snow machines are on like everyother building on Main Street.

Since we saw the fireworks/snow from Main Street we're shooting for watching one night in front of IASW for the different experience.

Oh and just FYI, if the fireworks do get cancelled, they still do the snow. So if the voice announces the fireworks won't be showing, just hang out and a couple minutes later it will snow.
