Hi all. I have been so busy since returning this is the first chance I have had to write a report.

We stayed at CSR (our 3rd visit there) from Sept 27 to 29 (three nights). We dragged along my mom so we got the Florida resident discount ($116 per night including tax and extra adult in the room).

We arrived about 10:00 am. The lobby and front areas were practically deserted. The check in was quick - actually the CM was somewhat abrupt. I had a ressie for 2 nights and asked if we could add one more night. He said "I don't know, we are very busy." I took a quick look around the empty lobby and thought "you sure could have fooled me." After several minutes of staring blankly at the computer, he called a supervisor and she cheerfully added on one night..."no problem."

Of course our room was not ready so we were given keys and told to call back later. No problem...we had 2:00 pm ADRs at Chefs de France so off we went to spend the afternoon at Epcot.

We returned to CSR at about 7:00 pm. Storm clouds were gathering so we quickly called the special number and got our room number....9222 in Cabanas. I love Casitas and had hoped to be there, but I'm open to new things. Our only request had been for a non-smoking room as DH has asthma. We drove our rental car around and found the building and decided to scope out the room before dragging our suitcases up. I was extremely disappointed to see that we were overlooking the parking lot. Oh well, we were getting a big discount so I would tolerate it. However, we immediately realized upon entering that it was a SMOKING ROOM. I immediately called the front desk and after explaining the situation was put on hold for several minutes. Finally they came back on the line and said they would be moving us to an "upgraded" room to compensate for their mistake. All we had to do was return to the front desk and get new keys (anyone who is familiar with CSR's size knows that getting back to the lobby is no small feat).

Once we were back at the lobby we realized that Mr. Personality who had checked us in this morning had put the wrong names on our keys. They were similar, but completely spelled wrong. In fact I was a complete different gender! This was cheerfully corrected by the night staff.

Anyway we ended up with a corner room on the 2nd floor in Cabanas (I cannot remember the room number...sorry!) overlooking the pool out one window and the lake out the other. Someone was definitely sprinkling pixie dust on us. I still think Casitas is the most beautiful, but we enjoyed this location as well.

The remainder of our stay at CSR was perfect. The pool and spa were awesome, we ate breakfast and dinner at the Pepper Market, had margaritas at the lounge, and saw the gator in the lake. Those "no swimming" signs should be taken seriously!

Buses were prompt and frequent, mousekeeping was thorough. We were worried about returning to a mod after 2 years of deluxes...but CSR is more than a mod. There were lots of conventioneers there, but it was NOT crowded. There were preschoolers but not many other children at all.

We will definitely return.

Sounds like you had a great time! I can't wait to go December 7 - 17th. Just a question - why do you preper the Casitas section? We requested the Cabana section because from what I read it was centrally located. Is there a big difference between the two?

Thanks :cheer2:

Glad you had a great time inspite of the rocky beginning. We also prefer the Casitas.

Thanks for the review. I am glad things got better as the trip went along. It is funny how sometimes you can tell right away that someone is going to mess up because they just don't have what it takes to be in the service industry.

You are one of the few people I have read about that prefers the Casitas. I actually think they look the most beautiful of the 3 sections in the pictures but people always rave about the Cabanas. I am somewhat torn about what to request. Either way I am sure it will be great.

I have been negligent about replying. To me, Casitas is so beautiful...the gorgeous fountains, archways, the Palm Court, wonderful flowers and plants. The theming is detailed but very tasteful and subdued.

We stayed in Casitas 4 and absolutely loved it. I had requested the Casitas as I loved the look of the courtyards. We had a standard room on the fourth floor but our view was a tree rather than the parking lot. We were close to the quiet pool which we used the whole time we were there (9/26-10/4).

This was our second stay there, the first time in the Ranchos which I thought were fine. I plan to request the Cabanas next trip!

I've meant to do a review but have been catching up since we got back.
