We aren't sausage or kraut people but after seeing some of pictures posted recently, I'm thinking of trying it. I love salads as long as there isn't any meat or fish in it as well as chicken. DH is looking for more meat and doesn't like salads. Do you think it will be worthwhile for us to try. By the way, what is schnetzel? :confused3

Now I have to say that I am not a carb-lover (ok, well, yes I am but they don't love me back :rotfl: ) but I enjoyed the Biergarten very much. Yes, it was heavy on the sausage and potatoes but the cold salads were good. The atmosphere is a total blast and that is the main thing. It's the kind of thing you'd only do on vacation: groove to an oompah band and hoist a yardful of beer!

Schnitzel is basically veal or chicken pounded very flat, dusted with flour and pan-fried.

I thought they had LOTS of meat, I am not a huge meat eater but I think they had delicious roast pork as well as the schnitzel, sausages and sauerbraten.

DH is the pickiest eater I've ever seen. He doesn't like much that could be considered "exotic" or "different". Even he really liked Biergarten and we are actually eating here a second time on our next trip. That's quite amazing for him. They have lots of options on their buffet, and even have the standard mac and cheese and their chicken spatzle looks like fried chicken tenders basically. So even if you don't like some of the foods, there are enough options to find things you like.

WE have reservations for the Biergarden this Sunday at 6:30 pm. We usually visit the Biergarden at least once during each of our visits. We love the food and the music. Its just a great time...everytime!

P.S. Don't leave without trying the apple strudel with vanila sauce.

Snitchzel is Breaded cutlet...can be chicken or veal. Beirgarten serves chicken, and it is good. They also serve saurbrauten (sp) which is "sour Beef"
also very good...not overly sour. Think more like marinated beef. There are lots of choices...there is reg. salad, potato salad, cucumber salad, There is a fish salad. Mac/cheese, mashed potato balls, spatzel, fruit, lots of meats, and nice desserts. We love it too!

I'm enjoying this thread; makes me glad I booked Biergarten for lunch on the day of our anniversary! We'll already be in Epcot because we're doing the Segway tour that morning, and we'll be having a big dinner at 'Ohana that night...so I think Biergarten will be perfect for a lunch where we can just take a bit of a few things :) Do they have the "show" during lunch, or only dinner??

Biergarten is one of our favorite restaurants and the only buffet DH will go to. As mentioned above, there are a lot of choices.

The show actually runs all day i believe we went for a late lunch there last november around 1:30 and they had the show then so i dont think it is only limited to the dinner seatings

The Biergarten is a great place to eat, very versatile! I love eating there and I don't get the kraut or sausage. Lot's of deli meats and cheese, salads, pretzel bread, and other yummies there. You are seated family style so you get to meet new people while you're there. I love that part! I usually meet some very interesting people there. One year, we were sitting next to a couple and the wife was a vegetarian and she had lots to chose from.

GO! Have a great time! PROST!

CM in dining told me music begins at 12:30 during lunch hours.

Thanks everyone!
We have never eaten there because we were "afraid" of the food!..LOL!!!
But after reading this thread, I feel we will enjoy it!

I'm putting it on the list for tht next trip!

I have been going back and forth on this one. My family is very picky...but you all have convinced me that we must try Beirgarten. Thanks! :worship: :worship:

Biergarten is great and the food is real authentic. (beside McCheese that is not know at Germany at all :cool1: )
Real Viennese Schnitzel HAS to be veal! Very slim slices put first in flour than in whistked eggs and at last in breadcrumb. Pan-fried afterwards.
Schnitzel can also be pork than it is called viennese style :flower:

Sauerbraten is beef marinated in vinegar and spices at least 12 hours and then roasted in the pot. When you have a "Rheinische Sauerbraten" there has to be Pumpernickel (some kind of very dark bread) and raisins in the sauce.
Its great with Spätzle and applesauce.

If you need some more explanations of the German food dont hesitate to ask.

I ate there last week and loved it. It had been maybe 6 or 7 years since I had eaten there last. The food was fresh and the show was good. I'd recommend it to anyone interested. As for the show, last weeks times and info guide lists the show times at 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:45, 5:55, 7:00, and 8:05 p.m. these times have generally remained the same for the last several years. I'd also recommend making your PS about 30 to 45 minutes before your desired show time. That way you can enjoy your meal and the show and not miss anything while your up at the buffet. But that's just my opinion. :)

Thanks for that info! :) Where in Deutschland are you?? My brother in law was born there, and in fact he and my niece are going to Germany on April 25th, for a week. I believe they go to Guppingen (SP??) to visit relatives. Is there a place called Guppingen or something like that??

Hi,

I guess you mean a town called Göppingen, its in the south of Germany almost 350 miles away from our place.
