ok. without getting into too much info, I work in a pharmacy and we were robbed today. Let me tell you how aweful it was. I was so nervous. Kept very under control until he left. Was just me and a pharmacist and I was the "lucky one" he came to. I am so tired from the adrenaline rush today. Just needed to talk. Thanks for listening.

Phew. I'm glad you are safe. I was in a robbery in a grocery store several years ago. (I was working the cash office). We were also very lucky, no one was hurt, and they were actually caught before they got out of the parking lot.

PM me if you need to talk or vent. I know what you are going through.

I'm in Mass too. And I'm Debbie

So sorry to hear that, Karen. Must have been awful while happening and yes, the rush can exhaust you, I am sure. Big {Hugs}

Oh how horrible for you :( I'm glad that you are safe though.

(((((hugs))))) to you Karen

Oh Karen! I know that must have scared you. I'm sorry. I am so glad that you are ok. I hope you can get some good rest!

Karen, I am so sorry you had to go through that today. That must have been very scary!!! Glad to know that no one was physically hurt though. {{{hugs}}}

I'm so glad you're alright.

Hugs, Karen, how terrible! I'm just thankful you weren't physically hurt.
Take good care!
Cathy

I was robbed at gun point over 10 years ago and I still get sick to my stomach thinking about it. The man was never caught and all I can remember is what the gun looked like, not the guy. I also remember thinking that "tonight is the night I die and my kids are too little to be without their Mommy"

Funny thing is my company was just voted in the top 100 companies by Fortune Magazine but at that time I got no phone calls at all from any one in upper management. I had a phone call from a part time person letting me know I did not have to work the following night!

I *haven't* ever been robbed (yet, anyway), and I still get sick over the idea. :( I'm so sorry, but so glad no one was hurt. If they haven't caught him already, I hope they do soon.

Oh Karen, what a frightening experience!! {{HUGS}} I can't even imagine what you are feeling right now.

4:30 in the am and I cannot sleep. Thank you everyone. I am physically ok but I think I will be mentally wrecked for a few days. I keep thinking of the shoulda, coulda, woulda stuff. I know what I did was right for the situation. I'm no hero and don't want to make someone like that angry!

Debbie, I may just do that. I am more aggrivated by all the thoughts of what I could have done to prevent it. It also bothers me that I stink as a witness. He was in the store for at least 1/2 hour before he approached us.

Tonight I am taking my 9yo daughter out for dinner and to do some shopping. I bought a 96 ford windstar last monday and need to get some accessories for it. It'll keep my mind off things hopefully.

Thank you again everyone. I feel safe and welcome here.

Karen,
Let me begin by giving you a big {{{hug}}}. I am so sorry that you had to experience this.
Please don't keep second guessing yourself...you are alive and safe...as far as I am concerned that means that whatever you did was the right thing!!! The most important thing is that no one got hurt. {{{hugs}}} again. Try to take it easy & pamper yourself today.
I'm here if you need anything!
Laura

OK, you did well.... because you are here.

A friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint in a corner store on campus... she was challenged by it for years...

You are here to tell the story.. as for witnesses.. doens't the store have survellience tape? I'm sure in the pharmacy there is something, right?

Karen--

The coulda, woulda, shoulda is TOTALLY irrelevant. Everyone walked away under their own power. No one was physically hurt (or worse). I am not surprised you cannot sleep. This will bug you for a while. I am heading out to work shortly, but I am going to PM you my work email. I am literally chained to my desk all day (;)) and can receive emails faster than I would get a PM.

You are totally correct that someone who is robbing a pharmacy is more than likely not the most stable individual. Making them angry could have been a very very bad move.

I hope you have a relaxing day. Does your employer have any sort of 'support system' you can contact. I know the company I work for now, has things in place where we can get a couple hours free legal advice, help with finding daycare, a few hours of speaking with a counselor/pyschiatrist/ etc. That might help as well.

OK--Off to send you a PM.

Debbie

There were cameras everywhere, they have so much footage of him.

The company sent relief people for me and the pharmacist immediately. They provided lunch for us and we just sat upstairs and ate and relaxed and discussed anything we may have missed giving to the police.

The store manager was superb! I am going to thank him today. He kept telling us over and over that we did a good job. I really appreciate that.

There will be an article in today's paper. If it is any good I will let you know.

Luckily I wasn't around when they came in to interview. I have nothing to say to them.

Everyone here is so nice. Thanks again for being there.

{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}

i know exactly how you feel right now. i worked as a front desk clerk at a hotel for a few years. i had been there for about a year when it happened to me. the hotel i worked for was pretty small and there was typically only one person there after about 7pm. i was the lucky one who worked 3pm to 11pm. it was one of those extended stay hotels. one of our very long term guests was a good friend of mine. she would normally come down on the weekends and sit with me for awhile. we'd order pizza, watch tv, catch up on chit chat...she left that night to go back to her room at about 9:30pm. at about 9:50pm, i heard the front door close so i knew there was someone there. i assumed it was a guest and got up and walked around the corner. that's when i saw him. he was wearing one of those stupid friday the 13th masks, but i could see his eyes. i never saw a gun, but he had it in his pocket pointed at me. it was the scariest moment of my life, but thankfully i wasn't hurt. they never caught the guy, well, at least for that crime. it's something that still affects me even today. that happened july 26, 1996. i have real issues with working at night. i just can't do it...soon after that experience, they moved me to the 7am to 3pm shift and i was much better. on the occasion that i did have to work at night, the doors were locked when the last person left for the evening...i would talk to whomever was outside using the intercom. and my brother or someone would come and sit with me through the dark hours of my shift. i continued working there for almost 3 years...

feel free to PM me if you need to talk...believe me, i understand what you're going through...

I have nothing useful to say :( other than, to say you did good under horrible circumstances and to give you a {{{HUGS}}}.

Take care.
