Being in a show at DHS? Refresh my memory!

Today I pulled out some old albums to show my kids pictures of Disney. I was disappointed in how few I had but then I realized that it's because all my trips were pre-digital!!! One roll of film for the week leaves you with not so many pictures!

Anyway, the trip I took in '98, I found pictures of my friend and I wearing yellow rain jackets on a stage like we were part of the show. I don't remember this AT ALL. In fact, I had to put my glasses on and really make sure that it was us in the pictures. I've spent a good part of the morning trying to convince myself that I remember this but I don't. The funny thing is I remember what I was wearing UNDER that rain coat--a Winnie the Pooh shirt. I remember because while in line for the Back Lot Tour (I think?) a guy said, "Hey you have pooh on your shirt!" and I freaked out thinking a bird pooped on me and then I had that "duh" moment of shame, hahaha. But I do NOT remember putting ona yellow rain jacket and participating in a show of some sort at all...

So someone please tell me, what on earth was I doing in that yellow rain jacket????

Was that the TV Studio thing (can't remember the name) which was where Idol is now?

That would be the pre-show for the Back Lot Tour. I can't remember what they actually call it (even though I have done it twice now), but you serve as the crew on a Navy ship that is attacked by planes and submarines. One person is the captain, two are wacky deckhands and the fourth person works the radio room.

Thanks! That makes sense. I couldn't place it for the life of me and I still really don't remember doing it!

Yup! I remember that. It was a "How they make movies" kind of thing. My wife and I were pulled of the path to be a part of the show back on our 2002 anniversary trip. I was "lucky" enough to man the engine room.... lucky that is until the water came in aftter we were "hit" with a torpedo. Thank goodness for that rain gear for sure.

I enjoyed it.. we actually watched another showing of it to see how it looked form the stands later on. It was fun... but I was disappointed that I wasn't able to purchase a video of us participating or have any record of us being out there looking like Goofy. Disney really missed a marketing opportunity there.. I'd have shelled out $50 for it!

I have heard it's no longer there? In fact, we did it in March 2002, but I don't recall even seeing it in November 2002 when we took the kids back. I'll have to look tomorrow..

Oh this brings back memories! My brother and I were pulled out of the line to do this. Wasn't the boat called the S.S. Totally Sinkable? My dad videotaped the whole thing back in '93 or '94... I should look for it!

It was still there last September. Two friends and I were in it. I was also in the engine room. The rain gear didn't help too much, but fortunately it was hot out that day!

Definitely still there! They will not run that portion of the back lot tour on a really cold day. It is possible that a November day may have been too cold.
