Being DIS Member = BANNED?

It is a question. From the quoted part of the VMK newsletter below, I would suppose that posting on this board and mentioning our VMK names would be a violation of VMK values. Comments?

Myth: Its ok to tell someone my user name on another Disney site.
Fact: This is not true. We don't allow the exchange of any information that would allow contact outside of VMK.

No posting your VMK name on the DIS is not a violation of VMK values while they have control in the game of what goes on they do not have any control over what we do here on the DIS.

That question is specific to Disney sites, such as toontown. It doesn't mention fan sites. Also.. they are talking about sharing that information WITHIN vmk. As Mal said they have no control or jurisdiction over what goes on or what you do on this or any other board. I think they have made it clear that they don't want us talking about contacting each other on sites or IM when we are IN vmk.
And while we are talking about sites I'll toss in a friendly reminder about what information you share on these or any boards also. Remember we are all still strangers, your best bet is to remain anonymous to everyone here as well.

I misread it at first myself and thought it meant if we shared it here...and I thought how unfair it was. But then I realized it was about sharing your fansite username within VMK. So I couldn't go onto VMK and tell everyone that I'm mking624 on Dis. THAT would be a violation of the vmk values. I used to have "Dis" in my sig on VMK, but with them being so ban happy, I took it off. Just playing it safe....

I still have dis on my signature.

When someone asks me what it means, I just answer "short for disney". They probably think I am weird, but that is okay.

I have thought about changing it and using the dis in place of "this" in a sentence like I have done with some room names, like "dis girl is not trading right now".

I still have DIS in the signatures of several of my main characters. And If anyone asks what it means, I just simply tell them it's a place on the net. I never say that I'm actually on here or tell them my name. So, I've never even been warned, let alone banned due to it. Of course, who knows what may happen.
But I won't change it unless it's changed for me or I'm told to remove it.

While I currently do not have it in my signature it is not because i thought I should remove it, just have been changing it a lot and have limited space, obviously it is not information they want us to share in detail but they do give warnings on signatures usually. When I had it in my signature and had an iquiry I would just state it was a place a lot of us hang out and left it at that.

If I get asked what "dis" means, I tell the person we are not allowed to discuss fan sites in the game. That's my way of following the rules and probably breaking the rules at the same time.

As for giving out your VMK name here, it probably is against VMK values. At least according to one very uptight VMK tour guide at Walt Disney World who seemingly went insane when I told him my VMK name. According to him, we are NEVER to reveal our VMK names to anyone else, it's against the rules. It took a while for his head to stop spinning around but it was kind of fun to watch.
