beignets???

OK, it's decided. We all must go on the next big trip, and we will do a taste test.

Now if anyone else wants to do it before then, that's fine. The more beignets, the better!

Next trip you and I can be two of the three people. :)

I was trying to figure out if there was some way someone could get Cafe du Monde beignets and travel to DLR in a certain amount of time so those could be included...but I had to give that up.

Molly, my parents brought home Cafe du Monde beignets when I was little (like on the plane) along with the dry batter. I ate them in NO myself (at Cafe du Monde) around 2000. I recall that the ones I had when I was little tasted more like the round "fritters" served at the mint julip window and that other NOsq window - with an eggy batter.

But the 2000 ones were more like the squares with tons of powdered sugar.

I prefer the fritters, but I found on this trip just a bite will do -- they are sooo fried....

Anyway, I will participate in a taste test....

I am planning on a side by side comparison in april! I can't wait! :)

My hiney can't handle too many taste tests though.
