So I just read this article about best FA-friendly restaurants at Disney. It mentions gf, df, sf, and ef beignets at POFQ. Is this true? Anyone had them?

It also says that 50s PT has house-made allergy brownies. We've eaten there twice and DS requested root beer floats both times so I never heard about these. Are they really house-made and not just some gf brand like OMG? I'm just wondering if they really have an egg free brownie at 50s.

We have had the Beignets at FQ between us we are DF and GF-we had no issues.

Wow! Nice find clanmcculloch!

From the blog it sounds like there is a tree nut risk in that the Bob's Red Mill mix used is manufactured in a facility that uses tree nuts.

I searched these forums before posting and I did find some discussion of the regular beignets. It sounded like the regular ones are peanut and tree nut free so safe if those are your only allergies.

From what I understand about Bob's Red Mill, they use the same line for the gluten free flours as they do for almond and hazelnut and soy flours but they do a power wash cleaning of the machinery and then toss the entire first batch of non-nut flour (I've also read 30lb) after each run. You have to know your degree of allergy risk to know if this is ok for you or not. If you're ok with Babycakes baked good then you're ok with this because they use Bob's Red Mill flour. BRM does not ever have peanuts in their dedicated gluten free facility.

Wow, the members here never cease to amaze me. Great find about the beignet ingredients! Bob's Red Mill is not safe for us, and Babycakes is not safe for us either as a result. I'll have to check out the regular beignets when we are at POR later this year.

We've stayed at PO_FQ a number of times in the past and they have always told me the beignets are nut allergy safe. I've always been fine but the same staff scoop ice cream that has nuts so it depends on how you feel on that. They may change gloves frequently etc and I always say I'm allergic but everyone has different allergy tolerances.
