Is it worth it? What do they take you through? Do you have one guide or do they have several along the tour?

I've gone twice - once by myself and once with my DD7 at the time. I like it - the science of what they do fascinates me. DD could care less (but it was part of the 'educational experience for her), and the rest of the family didn't want anything to do with it...

My husband and I did it on our honeymoon and we loved it! There is only one tour guide and the group we had was small enough that it didn't feel overly crowded. If you want to see any pictures there are some in my trip report. (It's under Day Two "Hydro-what now?")

I've done it twice and really enjoyed it and it's cheap! they let us feed the fish once and that was a lot of fun, I thought they were going to jump out of the tank!

We want to do this when we go this upcoming May. How far in advance should we buy tickets? We will have a 4-year old and 2-year old with us.

Thanks!

:wave2:

We did the tour last June and we just walked up to the counter without any reservations and got right in to the next tour. We had our DS9 with us and he liked most of the tour but he did start to get antsy and bored towards the end. IMHO, I probably wouldn't take young children on the tour as it doesn't really have anything to keep them entertained, as the tour basically deals with the science behind the different growing methods used in their gardens. And if you need strollers for little ones I am not even sure they would be allowed in the greenhouses, as one lady in a wheelchair on our tour had to skip certain parts due to not being able to use her chair.

thanks! as soon as i posted dh said nah, lets skip it this time! :sad2: altho it was his idea?!?!?! men! lol and i looked at the pp's tr and no theres no way to fit a stroller in there...plus with the nature of the whole thing, prob not a good idea for all the veggies, etc.

I think young kids would be bored to tears and I'm glad there were no kids in our group. My wife and I, who enjoy gardening, really liked it.

my parents and I did this tour about 2 years ago and we really enjoyed it. It was neat to see all the plants up close and to see the magic behind it all. They even let me release some lady bugs! :) also the size of the tour group was fairly small so it made things much more enjoyable!

My DW and DD10 did the tour last month and they got to release the lady bugs too. They also got to chop up and eat a cucumber and feed some fish. Both enjoyed the tour very much.
