What a great way to spend your last night!
Packing time is SO HARD!!! I can only ever do it because I can then get out the door faster in the morning to enjoy as much of the last day as possible.

We haven't totally decided on the CBR for summer, but all the great pictures are drawing me in! I don't think we'll go for a themed room. I mean, it would be nice, but you have to pay extra and our kids are too big to care. It just looks like such a cool resort. I used to always want to stay at the same place, but now I love trying something new every time.

CBR is the resort we're looking at for our Grand Gathering in 2010. I agree with not paying for the theming, but we're planning on paying for preferred location if we go - I hear it's a big resort. I stayed there once...in 1992...so I can't remember much, other than my 18 year old self enjoyed it. ;) If you do try there, be sure to post what you thought about it! We've decided we're going to keep trying new resorts, too - it's just more of an adventure!

Wishes is a great way to spend any night!
I like your way of looking at packing! It leaves more time for last day fun!

Chuck and I will definitely be at CBR for our December trip so we'll give you a full report. We've seen so many beautiful pictures. I am looking forward to seeing it in person. I also like the idea of a tropical Christmas. I can't wait to see the decorations. I do agree with a large group a prefered location will be best. You can really take advantage of everything the resort has to offer. We will let you know what we think!!

Day Eight Part One

The time had come to say goodbye to our happy, little room at the Pop! Even though it was not in the location we wanted, it turned out to be a great spot for everything and we could see our decorated window from the bus stop.

Not a view I like to see.

Jake undecorated our window and Em said goodbye to her balloon. We had a very unfortunate incident with a cat’s digestive tract and a balloon string, so balloons are not allowed at our house. (It was a family vote.) That means our balloon had to be set free, so it could live forever at WDW.

But don’t think we are leaving WDW just yet! For our final meal in the World, we are going back to one of our favorite haunts, AKL, for breakfast at BOMA.

TBC

That's a happy thought that the balloon gets to live in WDW forever. Wish I could! The photo looks like those new what will you celebrate commercials!

Breakfast at Boma is not a bad way to end your visit!!! :thumbsup2

Hey, maybe they got the idea from us!

Breakfast at Boma is becoming another family tradition! I've got to remember to schedule one for this summer.

I got all weepy-eyed with the photo of the balloon wafting away. What a metaphor for saying good-bye!

Breakfast at Boma -- mmmmm. I need to start a last day tradition. Now, I am going to think about what it might be.

We would be honored to share our tradition with you. I do have a secret dream of just walking out of our room and being able to eat there, but I guess that will have to wait until Em's 16th. Only four more years!!

I love the pictures from underneath the monorail. I'm definately getting some of those in June. The balloon story was so sad!!! :sad1: It is kind of a nice tradition though. Very cerimonious.

Thanks! It's hard to let go of those expensive balloons, but it's fun, too, in a way! When we let birthday balloons go, we make wishes!

I am so sad that it is coming to an end though very excited to see your review of Boma. :thumbsup2

Your wish is my command! Boma is coming right up!!

Day Eight Part Two

Breakfast at Boma!
If you haven’t been to AKL, it is like stepping into another world, like you’ve stumbled into an African village right in Florida. It is landscaped with thick vegetation and feels like it is rising right out of the plain.

We are glad to be back.

DSCF1062.jpg

I love how the lobby is huge, but dark and cool at the same time. We stayed here in August 2006 and it was such a respite from the busy heat of the parks.

We were right on time for our ADR so we hustled on down. Boma is down a winding staircase from the lobby.

This is the staircase from inside the restaurant.

We were seated quickly in the middle of the room. Breakfast is a buffet, with traditional breakfast items and some African as well.

The food was great as always. Here’s Em’s first plate. Sorry, she’s not gonna pose. Boma is serious eating!!

DSCF9268-1.jpg

Sorry there aren't more food pictures, but like I said, Boma is serious eating!

After our meal we had a quick stop at the bathroom. Even the bathrooms are cool.

Lioness for the ladies.

Beautiful art displayed around.

Em found a nice place to wait.

DSCF1070.jpg

Reluctant to leave, we wandered around to visit our favorite spots.

Chuck’s favorite: Comfy chairs in the lobby.

DSCF9303.jpg

Lynn’s favorite: Sunset lounge.

DSCF9292.jpg

Jake’s favorite: more comfy chairs in the lobby.

DSCF9284.jpg

Em’s favorite: the savanna complete with hidden Mickey.

We did have one more adventure in store before leaving the great state of Florida, so we needed to get on the road.

I believe this sign reads,” The Nepl of Nigeria believe that touching this door will send you safely into the future.”

Until we meet again, AKL!

Nexxt up: Adventures in the wilds of Florida!

I am all caught up on your trip report. I will have to try Boma for breakfast sometime.

BTW I have to say thanks to Chuck. I have "Barbara Manatee" stuck in my head now. :rotfl:

Now I'm craving bacon and biscuits! :goodvibes
AKL has some of the best places to relax and chill - all the comfy chairs, fireplaces and secluded seating areas are incredibly inviting, not to mention all the cool art and the oooh! factor when you walk in. Thanks for the great pictures!

OMGosh, I did not know there was a hidden Mickey in those rocks! That is really funny because I took a picture of those giraffes...now I'm going to have to go look at my picture!

I am sad your TR is almost over. :sad2:

Chuck says, "You are welcome!"

Thanks for catching up with us!

Doesn't that breakfast look good? I love AKL! I think we are going to go over in December just to see it decorated for Christmas. I'm sure it will be spectacular!

Did you find it in your pictures?

We still have a update or two left! And it's not long at all until December for either of us!

All caught up here Lynn - so sad your report is almost done! :sad2:

I love all the monorail pictures - what a great idea to try and get each color. Very cool!

Funny about the monorail driver and his 10 year anniversary - I met a guy celebrating his 20 year anniversary with WDW and he didn't have too many good things to say either. :confused3

The Poly looks great - we ate at Kona last week and now my daughter wants to stay there. I told her we can go for one night next year at Poly - or five nights at POP.

Great pictures of the Electrical Water Parade - love it!

Your Wishes pictures are great too - another show I have yet to see.

I also love your idea of letting your balloon go to live at WDW eternally - I may have to steal your idea. Sam always gets a balloon but it usually ends up blocking my view in the car on the drive home.

Boma looks great! Especially since it's 8:30 and I haven't eaten breakfast yet. I wonder what other surprise you have in store for us?
