Begun this TRIP report has. New and Done Pg. 59

I just listened to the October 12th Be Our Guest Podcast and Lynn and Chuck get the HUGEST shout out from Pam and the gang! You guys are totally famous!

We are totally pysched about our shoutout! On top of that, there was a package waiting when I got home. Pam sent us some cute Mouse for Less swag to say thank you for introducing her to Mike's podcast. How cool is that!

Very cool! I'm going to listen on my way to work this morning!

I think I may be on my own for these last few updates, because Chuck is hard at work on the camper and I want to get this thing done before it's time to start the pretrip for the next one!! I'm sure Chuck will chime in sometimes!

Day Seven Part Four

Our last night in WDW! We decided to do our very favorite non park thing and revisit our old haunt the Polynesian Resort and watch Wishes from the beach. I think we’ll be doing this ever trip from now on.

Instead of taking the bus over to MK, we decided to go the long way around and take the bus to EPCOT and then monorail over to MK and the Polynesian. This also gave me a chance to continue in my quest to get a picture of every color monorail.

A monorail was waiting when we got there. Got the black one!

DSCF1037.jpg

Of course, we asked to ride in the front, but it was taken. The CM said we could wait for the next one, and we said, “Sure!” We’ve got nothing but time.

The next one was red and the front was empty. Yea!

Load ‘em up!

As always, we plotted about how we could drive the monorail home. Em was sure she could work the controls.

DSCF9139.jpg

“Oh no, we weren’t doing anything bad.”

DSCF9140.jpg

The cab of the monorail was decorated with balloons. We asked the driver if it was a special day. He said it was his ten year anniversary. He’d been driving the monorail for TEN years. We told him congratulations, then he said, “Ten years is too long.” So we let it go. It was a nice ride anyway. I like how the sun is setting a little more in each picture.

I love the headlights on the monorails. Okay, I love everything about the monorails.

At the TTC, we hopped on the resort monorail to take the full circle instead of walking over to Poly. (which is a lovely walk BTW)

No front this time, but I got a couple more colors while we waited.

DSCF1042.jpg

If you can see around Chuck’s big old head, this is pink!! I think he was jealous of all the attention I was giving the monorails.

DSCF1040.jpg

Em was once again contemplating stealing the monorail.

DSCF1041.jpg

As a side note, the first time we went to WDW as a family, the first monorail we rode was pink. Something horrible and vile had happened in the car we were in and it stank to high heaven. From then on the pink monorail has been known as “Stinky Pinky”. Our “Stinky Pinky” this night was quiet and didn’t stink at all.

I love this shot of The Grand Floridian. I’m gonna stay there one day. One day…..

DSCF9160.jpg

Caught the silver monorail at the MK stop.

DSCF1045.jpg

Couldn’t convince Chuck to let us jump off and get tickets to MK just for the one night. Too bad.
Soon we were back at our beloved Poly. We only had that one weekend there, but it is just so special to us. Em got to visit a lot of her old friends.

They all remembered her and were glad to see her, except for the nose picking one.

Jake helped me look through the gift shop. No prints from my guy here, but there were some nice ones. I decided to stick with what I had.

DSCF9173.jpg

We also visited the gallery there. They have beautiful things. I’d love to have this for our bedroom.

DSCF9191.jpg

We picked up some Mickey head bars in Captain Cook’s and made our way down to the beach. We had excellent seats for the Electric Water Parade.

More coming soon!

So Wishes from the Poly beach is a must do? OK. Twist my arm... ;)

I would love to stay there someday. And the GF -- that is an awesome picture!

Riding in the front of the monorail! :woohoo: Less than enthusiastic employee operating the vehicle? :scared1: Good thing Em would have been able to take over at a moment's notice!

I still love the Electrical Water Parade. I'm not positive but it seems like it hasn't changed a bit since I was a kid. And I love it. Just the way it is! :goodvibes

We stayed at the Poly twice when I was a kid - I looooooved it. I'm trying to convince DH that if we ever do a deluxe (like maybe for my fortieth birthday??? Pleeeaaasssee??? I'm not above whining. ;) He's got five years to save for it!) I'd like to go here. He would rather try Yacht/Beach club I think. You can't watch Wishes from the Beach at YC/BC!

Sorry to read it's almost over - glad you have another trip so soon to look forward to!

How can you just leave us hangin like that???
I want to stay at the GF too!! It is my dream resort. My DH and I walked around that resort for the first time in Oct 07. It was so magnificent!!! ONE day I will stay there. One day...
We've had "stinky" encounters on the monorail too. It's like, I understand sweat at Disney, but come on! You can't tell me that "they" don't smell it too or that the person they're with can't smell it too. Oofda! (sorry, my Norweigan heritage came out a little) ;)

Thanks Em for your last Seaworld installment sounds as though you and your Dad had a great day :goodvibes

Great score with the front of the monorail, love the photos :)

I loved Monorail Mania!

Ahhh, the Poly! When I was there in September I developed a huge fondness for getting a treat (usually a Dole Whip - I love the challenge of seeing just how much cold creamy deliciousness I can fit in a cup) and sitting out on the beach. That art gallery is amazing. I especially love the picture you picked.

I love visiting the Grand Floridian. I have dinner reservations there for the first time this December (I'm doing the trifecta - Victoria and Albert's, Narcoosee's and Citricos!) and can't wait to visit the Gingerbread House.

Last night at WDW??? How did this happen??? I thought you still had a few days left! :(

Day seven, baby! of course there is a little on day eight. You know we can't just jump up and drive home!:)

The monorail guy was funny. He reminded me of my boss at the bookstore, the kind that say, "welcome. now, get your stuff and get out." It was hard not to laugh. Made me a little homesick.;)

I like the Electrical Water Parade too. We saw it for the first time last year and I wasn't sure what to expect. But it is cool and a nice end to the day! It is so quiet out there with the water lapping against the shore and the ferry blowing its horn. Wish I was there now!

I wouldn't mind a stay at YC/BC either. I wish we could go back to Poly this summer. I want to go back so badly that I've been dreaming about it! But 11 days at CBR versus maybe 5 days at Poly? I choose 11 days! But we'll still go over to Poly for Wishes.

That is so pretty! I would love to redo our bedroom based on that...it just looks so peaceful!

LOL at Em and the nose picking!

I've got the perfect spot on our bedroom wall. That way I could pretend that is outside our window!!

Maybe I can convince Chuck we need to stay at Grand Floridian for our 20th anniversary! That's only 3 more years!!

I don't know what happened on that pink monorail that day, but it was worse than sweat. More like a dead, moldy sweat. It's not a smell I ever want to encounter again. It was hard to convince the kids to ride the monorail again. They thought it always smelled that way.

Thanks Em for your last Seaworld installment sounds as though you and your Dad had a great day :goodvibes

Thanks! I didn't get pictures of them all, but it was fun trying.

Your trifecta sounds fun! I'd love to go to the Tea. It looks so fancy and just so grand!!

Awww I want to go back to the Polynesian so bad! It would also be fun to see the water parade again too.

Day Seven Part Five

Soon it was time for Wishes. The music came up and we were once again watching Wishes in our favorite place in the whole wide world.

Can’t you hear the music in your head?

Okay, not that I’ve had a little cry, let’s move on.

We walked to the bus stop to catch a DownTown Disney bus and then catch a POP Bus. We were all lost in our own thoughts, and I caught the monorail a couple more times.

After a little while it was back to the room to pack. Cry, cry.

Ahhh, I know what you mean about crying on your last night at Disney! I always feel the same way? It seems like it has been FOREVER since we were there last, and it's only been four months -- how sad is that! :rotfl:

11 days at CBR versus maybe 5 days at Poly? I choose 11 days!

Tough choice. But I'd probably go w/ 11 days too. And the pictures of CBR look great! Will you go for the specially themed rooms?

Wishes. Sigh. I can hear the music. And I always get teary.

Can't believe it's already your last night. Good thing you and Chuck are going in Dec. How do Em and Jake feel about that, by the way?

It does seem like forever since June, doesn't it? I always have a good little weep while I'm packing up on the last night. I just cry during Wishes no matter what night it is!

Beautiful Wishes photos and last day already :sad1:

Another trip report coming to an end. Don't worry, there's always another trip on the way!

We haven't totally decided on the CBR for summer, but all the great pictures are drawing me in! I don't think we'll go for a themed room. I mean, it would be nice, but you have to pay extra and our kids are too big to care. It just looks like such a cool resort. I used to always want to stay at the same place, but now I love trying something new every time.

Em and Jake are Okay with December. My mom (Meme) is coming to stay with them. They are really excited about that. I'm having a hard time getting excited about December myself. The last two times we've tried to go alone, something has happen to stop it. It's not like we don't have June if something happens, but I'd still be disappointed. It would be so much fun to be just the two of us at WDW.
