Begun this TRIP report has. New and Done Pg. 59

I also like Em's creative shot with the shadows.

Bummer about TSM being down right away, but I have to admit that I like some of the excuses the CMs come up with when the rides aren't working. When we were there the Nemo show wasn't working :confused3 :confused3 and they told us the bugs from It's Tough to be a Bug got in the system. haha

The Star Wars weekends look fun!

And I keep calling my husband over to read it (major SW geek!), too. He really appreciated the pics of the merchandise. I'd have bought one of the "taste of the dark side" shirts - too funny! My only purchase during SWW last year were two of the pins. (Yes, I was a SW geek when I was younger, but nothing tops DH!!)

Yes there is something about being down there for SWW! I'm not only a geek, a Disney geek and a Star Wars Geek! It's nice to be down there since a majority of the folks that are there for SWW are there for the event, so you know that there are there for the same reasons.

There were a couple pieces of merchandise that were down there that I wished I had gotten......I was sorely tempted to get a Jedi Mickey Big Fig....and at one point I had even had gone down to Down Town Disney to get one to commemorate the event ...but I just couldn't justify the expense (we have one big fig of Sorcerer Mickey holding a snow globe..but we got that one from our local Disney Catalog outlet for next to nothing, so I could justify it!).

Another great update - you make this non-star wars fan :upsidedow want to go to Star Wars Weekend! (I shouldn't say I'm not a fan - just haven't really watched much of it).

Love the shadow picture that Em took - though it looks like five of you are in that picture - did you pick up a hitchiker?

That is not us in Em's picture! It's the people next to us. She just liked the way it looked on the ground.

Star wars weekend rocks. I'm trying to work it so we can go twice next year!

Great update---can't wait to hear how you enjoyed Toy Story!!

It's coming soon!

Did you buy any of those great t-shirts? We really liked them, but passed on buying any since it was our first day there -- I wish we had now.

No, no tshirts this year. We've gotten the Star wars weekend commemarative tshirt in years past. I wish I had this year!

Another great update!!! The mad rush to Toy Story Mania sounds crazy! Glad you were able to get FP at least. I guess I need to start preparing now for the chaos I will encounter. It was really nice that Troy Denning gave you the autographs to put in your books once you go home. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of your day went.

I think that morning there were just as many people going to Toy Story as were going to Rockin Roller Coaster, maybe more! Maybe once the newness wears of, it will calm down. It was great fun, though.
Troy Denning was very nce, kind of quiet. I wish they had made a bigger deal about him being there. There are tons of fans of the book series out there who would love to see him.

I have to tell you that I love reading your report. And I keep calling my husband over to read it (major SW geek!), too. When I tell him it's "That Star Wars family," he listens/comes to look instead of just rolling his eyes! :rotfl: He really appreciated the pics of the merchandise. I'd have bought one of the "taste of the dark side" shirts - too funny! My only purchase during SWW last year were two of the pins. (Yes, I was a SW geek when I was younger, but nothing tops DH!!) Looking forward to the next update!

I am honored we didn't get the eye rolling!!:lmao: Does he like Doctor who or Stargate? We are all total Scifi geeks!

Great update! Enjoyed the pictures! I love the t-shirts! What did you think of Clone Wars?

It was just a sneak peek about the making of it! We haven't been able to get to the movie yet. We are going on Labor day!!!!!!!:cool1:

Great update! The t-shirts are great. My favorite would be the Storm Trooper eating the melting chocolate! Great!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of the story

I thought the excuse was cute, too. We saw the same CM later and asked her if she had survived. She was still smiling in true CM style!!

Day Four Part Two

We hadn’t been in this theater before. It was very nice and air conditioned!! There were lots of CMs posted to show you where to go. They asked us to go all the way to the end of the row, so we did. We are good tourists. The people behind us just stopped in the middle and everyone had to walk around them. How rude! The view was great no matter where you were. I hate when people do that!! Me to! And I also hate it when they scrowl at you when you ‘accidentally’ step on their feet.;)

No doubt what we were there to see.

A man from Lucasarts (we're not worthy, we're not worthy!) came out and explained how they came up with the idea and gave us a lot of background into what went into making the movie. Jake loved it!

DSCF8883.jpg

They had a face character for the new padawan featured in the movie, Ahsoka. She came out and demonstrated her lightsaber (her mad lightsaber skills!). She was way cool. Then they showed us the sneak peak and everyone cheered. Our family is excited about it. Although we will wait a few weeks until the crowds thin out to see it.

Back out into the heat!! It was blazing that day. Our fastpasses were due for Toy Story Mania so we ventured over hopefully. Hurray, they were letting people in!!

DSCF0787.jpg

The inside of the queue and the ride were not at all how I pictured them. I do have to point out that we missed the bulk of the que line because we were fast passing it! It was very bright and much like a child’s room. I guess it was so different that Buzz Lightyear where I always run into things because my eyes adjust too slowly. I did have some concern about the special needs crew. There were a ton of steps!

Right as we got to the top of the last staircase, the ride went down again!! {okay, in your best dramatic voice}…Noooooooo!!! We did get an upclose view of how they handle it. If one of the ride vehicles is acting up, there is extra track so that the vehicle can be removed at a certain point and a new vehicle added. That was sooo smart. Here is the ride vehicle.

Not us. Sorry I took your picture, strangers. She does it all the time (Psstt… it’s a problem, but we are working on it)

See how bright and open it is.

Here’s Em about to battle Chuck.

The games themselves are fun, but my favorite part was moving between the games. It felt almost like the teacups, but not enough to make you sick.

Here’s the final score.

DSCF8894.jpg

We all loved it! On our way out we got fastpasses for later, just in case we were still around that long. We weren’t. It was 11 am in the morning and the fast pass return times was 3:30….that should show how popular this ride was.

It’s almost time for our ADR so we are off to the SciFi café!!! WoooHooo!!! I loves me some SciFi Café!!

More! More! More please. I can't wait to ride Toy Story next year. It looks like such a fun ride.

AHHH just looking at the pictures makes me want to ride TSM again!! Isn't it so fun?!?! I love it!

Great update! Love the TSM pictures! It looks like a fun ride! Can't wait to ride it!

We saw Clone Wars on Opening weekend...even I thought it was good....and I was not super excited to see it like DH was!

As always, fanstastico update!!! Thanks for the video link and all the pictures. It makes me want to add SWW to my list of times I have to go. Your special tshirts looked GREAT.
I am beyond excited about my trip at this point. In a week I'll be there!

It really is!! Just watch out for the running people!

Thanks! Less than a week for you now.One of my good friends who sometimes posts here (Hey Pam!!) is gonna be there (Hopefully) at the same time. They are staying in the FW cabins.

Sigh. I want to go back right now and ride TSM again! It was so fun!

Hey, you could be back there before us.....Aren't you still toying with the October trip idea? We had our second best trip ever in October!!

Another great update!!! TSM looks like a fun ride and I look forward to trying it out in a little over 1 week. Yaaahhhh hooooo! Can't wait to read about Sci Fi Drive in!

Wow... Star Wars Weekends look like such fun. I love all the cool merchandise... those t-shirts and big figs are cool! Toy Story Mania looks neat. I'm looking forward to hopefully trying it when I'm there in October. But I heard that they got rid of the single rider line and I do not have the patience for waiting in super long lines and I was not necessarily planning to hit the park and rope drop and do the "running of the fast pass."

I can't wait to hear what you think about TSM!! I just realized three of my friends (you included) are going to be in WDW in a week. I wanna go too!

Our Scifi report is a multimedia event!

That was just a fraction of the SW stuff that was there!

Maybe the TSM fervor was died down a bit. Hope you get to try it!

I really, really, really wanted to get the Jedi Mickey (did you know that his lightsaber really lights up!) but I really couldn't justify the extra expense....every time I look at a price tag of something in excess of $50, I always say to myself, you know that could get another night at Disney at such and such resort.
Even though I am not much a fan of bobble heads, I saw this at SWW and had to get it, I like to think of it as a miniature big fig.....

He's a little guy, but I like him!

Just catching up and a couple of great installments, thank goodness you got to see Off Kilter :rotfl:

TSM goes down all the time but is so worth it, FYI wheelchair users etc go through a different door which bypasses the steps :thumbsup2

He's adorable, Chuck. You must be very proud. ;) No seriously -- really is adorable. I wonder if that is a SWW only merchandise or whether it will be there in October? I'll have to look. In addition to being a Disney nerd, I am a closet Star Wars lover too.

I got him at the Tatoine Traders so I don't think he was a SWW exclusive. He was sitting over on the shelves next to the register on the left side of the building (as your exiting).

I'm in my pre-trip countdown mode, packing and getting ready. While I'm packing I'm listening again to Lynn and Chuck on the Be Our Guest Podcast and just pre-ordered my Photopass CD. I'M SO EXCITED to be going in a few days!!!!!

I'm glad you are back! Looking so forward to your trip report.

I hope the handicap queue is as cool as the other. I know the Haunted Mansion handicapped queue was dull!
