DD got a sewing machine for Christmas, and we bought our first pattern yesterday. It is on the brown tissue-paper like paper. Under the pattern is a blank brown tissue-paper sheet. What's the blank one for? Do I cut through both layers for some reason?
Also, whenever I start sewing something, the material gets caught under the needle and the thread bunches up. Am I just trying to start too close to the edge? Is there a better way to get started?
I made one doll dress (pattern online) and a doll quilt from scraps I had laying around the house. I think this will be a fun hobby (after my terrible HS Home Ec sewing experience, I can't believe I just said that!).
