I shall start this trip report with a great amount of pre-trip blunders.

We're flying out Sunday and have heard security is going to be at an all time high. We have to get to the air-port ultra early, any suggestions for getting through without a snag?

My father has dropped out last minute and won't be able to get out of the work to go on the trip. We're now scrambling to find someone to replace him, jetblue will not give any type of refund within 30 days of a group res.

AND I sprained my ankle in some going away shenanigans, so I'm icing and hoping its good to go by Sunday.

BUT we're still very excited, we have 13 adults and 1 little guy staying in 2 separate 2 Bedroom rooms, one MK view and one lake view. I've requested high floors and rooms next to each other, hopefully we get it!!!

sounds like this is going to be a fun trip - can't wait to read all about it :cool1:

Haha I just started my post too. We are in a 1bdrm lake view from the 11-19. Sooo excited. I have so much to do! Lol. I'm worried about Maria as well. But my best friend said not to fear cause her daughters name is Maria and I can never get mad at a Maria haha

I flew on 9/11 last year and the airport (philadelphia) was very, very quiet. There was a very strong security presence and the mood was subdued, but in general it was an absolute great day to fly! I would not hesistate to do it again. Everything ran right on time - big feat for the Philadelphia airport!

First, split up ;)

- At the airport, have a rally point past security where everyone can meet once they go through, then hit security in smaller groups (nuclear family, friends, etc). This way you won't need to worry about all 14, just the four or so in your group.

- At WDW, make hard plans to have breakfast and dinner together. otherwise, make it clear that it is ok for groups to do what they want. Navigating that large of a group through WDW is difficult.

Second, if you are not sure about your ankle, stay off of it as much as possible. Use a wheelchair or ECV. If you worsen the condition, you may find yourself laid up for an extended period; just don't push too far. Since WDW is geared for the mobility challenged, you won't loose a minute, so take advantage of it! :thumbsup2

This goes for the airport, too. Use the porters for your luggage and wheelchair/golf cart operators to get you around. The tools are available, so use them. Just bring some $1s for tipping ;)

As for hurricanes, don't sweat it. In fact, you should hope for one! Floridians (and WDW particularly) are VERY experienced at riding out these storms. The rest of the country; however, get a bit freaked about it and cancel trips. This means fewer guests while you are there. There are lots of DIS reports about empty parks right before and after a hurricane :cool1:.

Good luck and have fun!

Airport security was pretty standard, flight went well. It was a little weird watching all the 9/11 footage while flying on the anniversary.

Check in was good, not great. Everything went smoothly, there were a couple name changes and room switches that I thought were already done that weren't and bell services took a few minutes to get a bell man to help us with all of our groceries and bags. Other than the short wait for that, it was great. The walk to Bay Lake was not a problem at all.

The rooms are nothing short of amazing.

Quick note: Magic Kingdom 2bdrm is larger than our lake view, not sure how much, but its noticeable.

I'm rallying the troops and heading to the MAGIC KINGDOM!!! and best part is; it's only a 8 minute walk.

hoping you have a wonderful trip :goodvibes - my trip in december seems so far away :hourglass
