Happy Holidays Everyone!

I need some help, DISBOARD style. I just called to confirm our Anniversary dinner reservations at California Grill... and was told they don’t show them. (We researched every option and nothing) I tried to rebook for any time available, and no luck. Does anybody know anyway to get a reservation when they say there are booked up (even if you already placed one and they lost it lol). I don’t want to make a big issue of it, I think I’m still stunned it happened and shocked they didn’t seem to care. My first though was to come here for some advice. So, any thoughts my fellow friends? :rotfl:

P.s. Or worst case scenario, a nice romantic place to eat instead.

Do you have the confirmation number? I make sure I write that down and keep it with us when we get there.

I think this just happened to someone else and they were looking it up under the wrong phone number or reservatio number and it was really there but it just did not show.

I would call back and see if you can not get someone to help you look for it again. :)

As for getting into a booked place, all I know to do is to call and call and call. :confused3

I have been trying for over three weeks to get into LeCellier and I have not given up yet but it does get discouraging calling all the time.

You also might check the cancellation thread for the time you are going and see if anyone here is going to cancel and then you can grab it.

If you don't have a confirmation number, I don't know what recourse you have.

I think the Restaurant Marrakesh is lovely and very exotic and romantic. Also, maybe Citrico's or Narcoosee's at GF. I've never eaten there, but from the photos, they both look beautiful. IMO, stay away from Alfredo's in Italy. Too crowded and very mediocre. Artist's Point at WL is also lovely.

Good luck and have a happy anniversary!

If you have the reservation number that is definitely your best bet. They are human and sometimes transpose numbers. If you keep calling always a possibility. I am nor sure when you are going but look for a thread for when you are going it will say December ADR cancellations: I found a woman giving up one of her adr and I was able to get it. I was soooo thankful. Their might besomeone out there that will be able to spread some magic pixie dust your way!!!

I agree with calling back and asking them to look again. If you have the confirmation number I thought the restaurant HAD to honor it? What if you guys just show up at the podium and act like you think you have an ADR?

When I called to check our ADR's before our October trip I had a ressie on my listing that wasn't ours. I just left it, because I am sure the person who made the ressie didn't want it cancelled! The CM had no way to figure out who it belonged to. Our last name is REALLY common, but I don't know how we ended up with an ADR for a different family since they do things by phone #.

Good luck! And happy anniversary!! :flower:

Did you try searching every phone number you have? I would just keep calling everyday. We have had great luck getting hard to get ps two days before we want to eat. Good luck and happy anniversary

That happened to us before as well. We showed up for our PS and they didn't have us down. Luckily a smart thinking CM thought to check the dates and voila! So, have them check the same date but also check the month(s) before and after as well as the next year! If you are positive that you made it, I'll bet that the CM made a typo on your date. Our ressie was eventually found for the same day but a month before we were scheduled to be there! Of course, they worked us in with minimal problem. If one CM can't find it, hang up and call back - lol! As a last resort, just show up at the restaurant and try your luck!

Good Luck and Happy early Anniversary. :earsgirl:

From your signature I see that your anniversary is the 10th of December. So, that means we don't have alot of time to fix this. Call the dinning line tomorrow morning and double check all of the above suggestions (wrong name/number/date).

If it is still a no go - I would recommend Citricos or Narcossee's at GF as an alternative. I have eaten at both places (and at CG)and they are very good and a great place for a special occasion (btw - happy anniversary!!).

Please update us after you call! Good Luck :goodvibes

I was stunned when something much worse happened and they didn't care. The wonderful CMs...they ain't what they used to be.

The only thing I can think of to help would be that maybe when you made the reservation you used a different phone number?

I don't "get" romance & restaurants. We can have as romantic a time at Pinocchio's Village Haus as anywhere else, so I'm no help. To me, romance is coming outside and finding that he cleaned the snow off the car for me or me getting him a beer when he gets home. Lots of folks like LeCellier, though.

Good Luck!

Something similar happened to us at the CG. We were confirmed before arrival but once getting to the restaurant, we were told we did not have a reservation. I did not bring my conf # with me since I did not suspect a problem. What happened was they spelled our name wrong...instead of spelling our last name with a P they spelled it with a T....big difference.

I'm sure your reservation is there somewhere. If not I would highly recommend Citrico's. Actually Citricos is our favorite restaurant in WDW. I think it is more romantic, much quieter and the food is excellent (also great wine and drinks). I would call ASAP and make a reservation at Citricos, since the 10th is a Sat night. Just in case you will have an excellent back up.

I'm going to move this to our restaurant board for you. The experts there will likely have some advice for you.

Hi there!

Do you have your confimation number?

This will help me a lot in trying to answer your question.

Eric,

I would follow the above advice and keep calling Disney Dining. I would also make a reservation elsewhere just in case they don't find your original ADR. My husband and I love Jiko. The food and service are wonderful. Congrats on your arriversary.

Kathy

Don't try to keep calling the CMs at Disney Dining, you'll need to talk to a manager at CG about this.

This happened to us this past year, and we found out that when we booked the PS three months in advance, they ended up booking us for that night, instead of the night we wanted. We found out a couple weeks before dinner that they couldn't find the reservations, but they advised us to call the manager of the restaurant.

In my opinion, California Grill is overrated. I would HIGHLY recommend Citricos as the food is MUCH better (Chef Gray is a GOD), the atmosphere is more romantic, it isn't as loud and the drinks are better as well.

I too would try Citricos. The food at California Grill is lovely, but i wouldn't say the atmosphere was romantic, as it is way too busy and noisy. I know we booked Citricos for the night before you are looking for about three weeks ago, and they had several times available.

Failing that - I have heard great things about Jiko at AKL. Or what about Victoria and Alberts? It is not a personal favourite of mine - but many people love the place. Artist Point might be another choice - whilst the food is not as gourmet - the setting is lovely.

Hey everyone. Thanks for all the great tips! I dont know whats going to happen. Im going to wait until the 8th when we check in to try and do something. I will keep you posted when we arrive with a trip report.
