Do you remember some of the stupid things you said about how you'd raise your kids if you had any? I remember telling my mom my kids wouldn't be stubborn, I'd find a way to keep them from being stubborn.:) I think I have the most stubborn kids on the planet.:teeth:

LOL I remember thinking 'I am never gonna say that to my kids'.......and then years later I hear the same things coming out of my mouth.....

All the .....eat ur vegetables, they will help u see in the dark.....
or the best one i think......was 'do you want to stay in your room all day' esp when DD then aged 5 said yes please........

My children were only going to watch maybe an hour of highly educated TV programming and would never eat chips, cookies or drink pop!!! :jester:

Umm let's see.....when I have kids they will never do that, they won't scream or argue, I will never never let my kids do that.....like someone else said I think I need to plead the 5th. before I incriminate myself anymore---lol! Browneyes what a great topic, I have learned fast not to say "never"!

All of the above and more, LOL.
But I laugh now when my dd tells me she won't do to her kids what I do to my kids, I got that on tape, I'm sure this tape will be played many times in the future ;)

I would never take my kids in bed with me. Funny how that changes at 3:00am with a screaming infant, when you know you have to get up for work in 2 hours and the only way to get any more sleep is to take him in with you. Trust me, DS#1 spent quite a few nights in our bed. Although, DS#2 never really needed to.

Oh, and I would never yell/flip out on them. I wont even go there.

I remember hearing people saying - "I told you three times to do that..." and thinking that I would NEVER let my kids get away with that - they would do what I told them the very first time. Yeah, right...

I used to say I was never going to have kids because I was afraid of raising them in this world....geesh:teeth:

I will admit there is one thing that I said I would never do and realy, I DON'T!

"Do you want a spanking?"

My family seems to be full of ones who do that, and stand threateningly until given an answer. So, whenever I catch anyone doing that to a child, I rush right to the child's side, nudge them, and say "tell her yes, that's what she wants to hear anyway" and end up with the adult feeling stupid and getting pi**ed at me instead.

But I am guilty of my mom's "If I have to get up out of this chair..."

I swore I would never ground my kids from anything . Little did I know ..........

Oh yeah, I remember telling my bil some things way back when & he just laughed at me. Him being the father of 4 all of whom were teenagers mind you.:)

Everything I said back then has never happened.....like my kids won't be allowed to jump on the lounge chair or eat in the lounge room, but it all happened the way I said it never would:D

I always said I would never say...I hope you have a child just like you, because why would I want my own child to have a child that doesn't listen or talks back.

Well after today, I hope its just like her LOL

I have eaten every word-and every thought!- about raising kids in the last 19 years!! ESPECIALLY with DD age 10!!!!!

"I hope your kids are 10 times as bad as you!"

My brother has never had any kids or at least none that he has admited to!

And me, well I'll take the 5th!

DD always get's a puzzled look on her face when I start saying something and then I realize, OMG, it's something my mother would say, I wince, and then just walk away! I think that scares her even more!LOL

Scratch
:smooth:

my dad use to always yell at me " your more interested in being funny then you are learning " I hated that, now I find myself yelling that at my girl

long post

I thought whenever a kid misbehaved that it was all the parent's fault. They were doing it all wrong and if I could just have the kid for a week I'd "straighten them out" for sure! I thought my kids would listen THE FIRST time I told them something! My kids would NEVER give me back-talk and would always remember to say please and thank you. I would never have to raise my voice. The list could go on and on. Yep, I had it all figured out! And then.......................I had kids, four of them, and boy, I eat my words every day of my life!!!!
Now when I have people who are childless tell me what I should or shouldn't do I always tell them the same thing: "Ya, I did my best parenting BEFORE I had kids too!"

:jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester:

I did a research speech (persuasive) in college about cloth/disposable diapers.

I would never use disposable diapers because of the cost involved (more so than the environmental reasons).

Ha, by the time I had my first (almost 12 years later), I couldn't run fast enough to the disposable diaper aisle.

Only used cloth diaper for one day (dehydration problems). That was enough!!!!!
