Before or after 4th of July...

I don't know if there is any difference, but as far as Hotel prices, crowds, weather etc...do you think it is better to go one week before or after 4th of July, or it does not make any difference ?

there is no real difference in the price or weather before or after the fourth. but the crowds decrease the week after the fourth. i went in july of 2001 and the crowds were really not that bad. i know that they say it is really crowded. i dont think i waited for more than a half hour for anything i didnt use a fast pass for. there were a couple rides. but that is all. just go expecting huge crowds and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised.
i think that with a war looming over our heads alot of people will not be taking vacations like they normally do. just a guess. but this is how i feel. i am still planning mine as usual. i plan to try to keep life as normal as i possibly can for my son.

We were in WDW last summer the week before AND the week after July 4th. The only major extremely bad crowding was on the Fourth of July itself. It was wall to wall people. We were in Magic Kingdom and it was so packed we could barely walk. So we went over to EPCOT thinking it wouldnt be as bad, but it was worse, maybe because its a smaller park. But the days before and the days after were not bad at all, just the regular summer crowd. I was told that many locals go to the parks just for the day on Fourth of July.

In 2001, we were at Universal at the same times in July, and it was the same thing.

If you are staying on site, something to keep in mind is that the value season starts on July 4th at the deluxe resorts.
