DH is painting our bathroom.

We are not having a fun time together. :rotfl:

Someone PLEASE settle a debate.

Do professional painters take doors off to paint rooms? (Not to paint the DOOR, we are not painting the door.)

my uncle used to be a professional house painter, and he painted our entire house when we finished building it. i never saw him remove a door to paint. HTH!

I worked for a contracting company that organized the installation of floors, painters, electricians, etc. for new homes and our painters always took off the doors to paint.

Have fun! :rotfl:

50/50 so far!

I am by no means a professional painter! I have painted plenty of rooms and never take the door off, unless it's a pantry or closet door that is too small to work around.

Are you painting the molding around the door? In that case I *might* take the doors off but having just painted both DS's rooms in the last few months I did not take the doors off. I was also painting the doors and moldings the same color though.

I just wanted to add that when I paint a room myself I do not go through the trouble of removing the door. :)

If it makes the job easier to paint the room, like a small bathroom, take the door off.

A professional will take it off if it gets in the way of doing the job otherwise, no.

My dh takes doors off all the time to move stuff to the basement. It is pretty easy.;)

We kept the door on. I locked him in there with the paint and rollers. :rotfl: He told me to shut the door and leave him alone, so I guess by that he means he NOW wants the door to stay on... :confused3 :rolleyes1 :lmao: :rotfl2:

I have never had a painter here that removed a door to paint.

Megs sweetie, I say this with your best interest in mind, but you need a massage, or some relaxation CD's or a valium. You worry about a lot of silly ....stuff. ;)

If you are both painting and you want to take the doors off, then take them off. If he is painting and he doesn't want to take them off, it's OK that he doesn't.

OMG!!!!!

I sooooo get where you two are at right now!!!

At least he is in there painting....
I think I have given up on having my husband paint, or pay a painter, or any other such home maintenance...

You should see our bathroom right now.. after my husbands last big effort.... Looks like 'trailor trash'.... Only half the walls painted with streaky, poor coverage, paint on the white woodwork/mouldings, ceiling, etc... :scared1:

We've done painting before...
I KNOW the man can do better...
I swear he did this and left it this way just out of some kind of spite... :confused3

NEVER again.

I've learned my lesson.

Now, matter what needs work around this place... I am like... Whatever... :cool1:

Oh, I wasn't worrying about it :rotfl: but he wouldn't quit yelling about it to me, so I just came and posted it! To settle the debate.

I'll still take a massage, though...

But, why was he yelling at you about it...

Was he thinking YOU were going to take the door down for him????
Oh, he's just mad that he has to paint. :rotfl:

He just now yelled at me to go out in the garage and get the commercial-grade "project light", whatever those are called.

I went out, searched... it's nowhere to be seen.

He thinks I didn't look.

So he storms out, in search, and comes back with THIS from our basement...

:rotfl2:

We shouldn't do projects together. :headache:

:lmao::rotfl: ok, my husband is a mechanic and woodworker, and has several professional halogen work lights, and i can tell ya, babe, you didn't miss a thing during your search, because THAT AIN'T IT!

Ohhhh, this thread is good for a laugh...

My husband would be fumbling around in the dark, because he just doesn't want to go thru the hassle of going and getting our shop-light (which we DO have, right outside the garage door...).

Then he would yelling at me for saying "Honey, don't you need light in here...."

I don't know whether to go  or :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
