Before I miss it, what is this year's Zhu Zhu pet?

As far as Dinosaur Train, I am not impressed with the quality. My DS had his birthday in July and we had a hard time finding them. My MIL found some at TRU and my DS was very excited. The train is junk. It's hard to get the dinosaurs to stay in it and it doesn't really do much. Everyone looked at it and said "Where's the track?" He also got the BIG one (for the life of me I can't remember his name) and within a few days the paint was coming off of it's feet.

I think he ended up with the whole train, the interactive Buddy, and the big guy. I don't know if I will get him any more or not. Yes they are great for boys, but they could have made them a little better.

My DD6 is asking for Zoobles, none of my kids are impressed by Squinkies but everyone else's kids seem to love them. I think the two of those will be big for girls this year.

Has anyone seen the Fur Real Friends version of Zhu Zhu's? I saw them on a commercial the other day and they look really cute. Wonder if they will be as popular as Zhu Zhu's?

I think the Fur Real Pet version of the Zhu Zhu pet is popular, I have only seen a few of them.

DD wants Squinkies, Zoobles, Polly Pocket Mermaid set, Barbie Fashion Fairytale Doll (that the dress changes), Barbie "Merliah" with sparkly dolphin, Barbie Puppy Swim School, Pillow Pet, Whimsy Pets oh and "all the girl toys"... lol

Is it me or are most of the "must haves" for girls? How often do moms with boys have to hunt things down? Older kids like video game systems, but for younger kids it seems to be mostly "girl things".

Does anyone know what stores sell the Zoobies? I live in Chicago and this is the first time i am hearing about them. They are cute and I like that it has a blanket too.
I was at BB&B on Sunday and they had the Unicorn Pillow Pets, and you can use the $20% off coupon on them.

I've seen the Zoobles at Target, Wal Mart and Kmart. HTH! :goodvibes

Ooops! I see you were asking about Zoobies...don't know about those...Sorry

I just realized they were two different things....lol. I figured it got spelled wrong in the thread. Those Zoobles are cute too, kinda reminds me of the Popples from back in the day. So Zoobies are like pillow pets, with a blanket and less "pillow"...lol. The Zoobies are $27, and the Pillow Pets are $20 and I can get 20% off at BB&B....so the kids are getting Pillow Pets!

LOL
Zoobles, Zoobies, Squinkies...I can't keep it all straight :rotfl: Where do they come up with these names? :upsidedow

I think the pillow pets are cute too. Good to know about the 20% off at BB and B. Perhaps I'll do that as well! Thanks!

Wish I knew! The big one I tried to track down last year was the Barbie Glamour Camper. I went to over 12 stores looking for it. Online it was sold out everywhere. Now they are in stock but reviews say they are junk so we still won't be buying it!

DD (now 4) got the Glamour Camper either for Christmas last year or her birthday in February this year, I don't remember which because we did all the shopping at once (the stores don't usually get restocked very well for January and early February birthdays). It may not be the best quality, but she absolutely loves the thing and I think it is fun too. She still plays with it all the time, where most of her new toys, she gets bored with after a week. We haven't had anything break on it and it gets used pretty much every day. I will say, she doesn't push it around as a vehicle much at all. Mostly it is already "parked out in the woods" to camp and she leaves it open.

I agree that I have heard it is all about the Squinkies and Zoobles (zoobles are little toys, zoobies are completely different- they are like a pillow pet, but I think they turn into a blanket instead of a pillow) this year. As far as pillow pets, I'm not sure what the obsession with those is or why, but DD absolutely loves them and begged for 2 (ladybug and bee) for last Christmas. She takes those things everywhere, and she is always dragging them around the house, laying on them, making doll beds out of them etc. One thing to know (that I learned on the disboards) is that unless they actually say "pillow pet" on the tag they are fakes. Apparently all the ones in the mall kiosks are fakes, and the real Pillow pets might only be sold online, but I'm not sure about that. Supposedly the fakes are much lesser quality. I looked on our tags after I learned about the fakes, and we have the fakes. Makes no difference to me or DD. I don't know how much lesser quality they our, but ours have stood up to a lot and they are still fine.

Around here, Sing-a-Ma-Jigs are selling out frequently. My eighteen-month old--and my husband--love them!

For boys, I'm thinking Dinosaur Train. It's already sold out everywhere!

I agree! My DS4 really wants his Dinosaur Train toys. So far, I have collected just about everything I need to complete the train set (just need Morris, which he can live without). And he wants the interactive Ned (I have Buddy and Tank already). I have picked them up here and there as I find them for over a month.

Target sells the train with the track, so I got that. I know the Dinosaur Train toys aren't getting the best reviews, but it's really the only thing he really wants. He doesn't often want things; I think even just the figurines will make him happy. It's his favorite show and we watch it every day.

Also, as far as Pillow Pets, I just got one at CVS for less than $13 including tax. They were $19.99, but I got a $4 off $20 coupon and $3 off an as seen on TV item when I scanned my card. So, I bought a .22 cent candy bar to get over $20 and was able to use both coupons. I thought it was a smaller Pillow Pet until I got home and saw it was a full-size one when I compared it to my DD's unicorn (bought previously at Hallmark with a 40% off coupon). She used her tooth fairy money for the new one, and we paid the rest.

BTW-we got a pack of Squinkies, and they are so small. Too easy to get lost.

i had someone come in my store looking for the fin fin fish when i checked online to see what they were, everything was sold out so i guess they are popular. Mostly people ask about swinkies. i havnt had anyone come in about the dinosaur train or singamajigs(even tho i thought they were cute)

My aunt is CONVINCED it's gonna be Pillow Pets so she already ordered one for every kid in the family just to be safe. I have no idea if she's right or not but she tends to have a good shopper's mind.

My DD8 has talked about the Pillow Pets or a Zoobie. But both of my younger kids. . DS10 and DD8 seemed to be excited about the new Kung Zhu pets. I do think that's kind of a fad though. . .my youngest doesn't play with her Zhu Zhu pets she got last year much. She's all about anything soft, stuffed and cute. She's also all about penguins this year. :confused3 She still loves Build-a-bear. I'm thinking if they just made a Pillow Pet or Zoobie in penguin I would be golden! My DS10 is playing football this year and seriously he needs some receiver gloves and maybe an extra girdle and pants for practices. He also wants the new Madden. . .which I'm sure would get a lot more use out of than the Kung Zhu pets.

They DO make a penguin Pillow Pet. One of my 5yr olds is obsessed with penguins. Grandma bought her a penguin pillow pet.
