Beer????

I'm psyched to hear that the Polynesian carries Kona beers. Does anyone know if these are available at the bar there, or just in Ohanas?

Back in Oct, the Poly's lounge had Kona's Fire Rock Pale Ale and Longboard Lager in bottles, although I thought I saw the Pale Ale on tap somewhere at the Poly

...bumping...

I'm getting thirsty!! :o)

Anyone know what time bars usually open around there (or start serving alcohol)? Is there a time that's "too early" to get a beer?

Also, I know it's the South, but do they serve alcohol on Sunday??

They serve alcohol on Sunday. It depends on the location how early they start serving. At Epcot, you can get one as early as 11:00.

You know, I am only 23 (will be 24 on next WDW trip-i have been there 22 times) and I love beer and I have never drank beer in the countries! I think that is going to have be a good 'new' thing to do this time around! MMMMM...I am already getting thirsty!!!

But a good alcoholic drink is the pineapple one at Ohana's. MMMMM...tasty, tasty!!!

oooh...great thread! Its nice to see a few unusual beers listed. I frequent some bars with great beer selections, so its not often that I see recs for beers I cant find locally. Im hopeing that I can get the ILs to watch the kids one night so we can head over to Big River for a few drinks.

My Husband had the liter of Beck's Regular and we split a liter of Spaten Optimator (Best beer I have ever had.. ) Finally found it at a liquor store here.

The Barefoot bar at the Pool has The Fire Rock on tap. Very good!!!

What kind of beer is the la fin du monde? I keep reading about it and think I might have to try it! Also, anyone want to take my kids so I can drink around the world :rotfl:

ooo how exciting a beer thread! I work for a beer company in IL and love to try new beers! We are looking forward to going on our first "Epcot Beer Tour" in March this year. It's nice to have a list to look out for! My pub brewmaster always says "Don't be afraid of the dark, you never know what wonders it holds!" Dark beers are good and malty! I have to say I prefer the hoppier ones like a good IPA or a red ale! Yum! Oooo so can't wait!!! :drinking1

Boddington's, on tap, at the Rose & Crown
Kirin, on tap, in Japan
Tsing Tao, bottled, in China
Carlsberg, bottled, in Norway
Peroni, bottled, in Italy
Spaten Optimator, on tap, in Germany
XX, on tap, in Mexico

Raglan Road has at least 30 beers on tap, most of which I can't remember, but it was the only place I've ever seen Grolsch on tap

You forgot Moosehead & LaBatts -- Canada, Harp & Guiness -- UK, 1664 -- France (bottle), Beck -- Germany, Peroni (bottle) -- Italy. I'm sure we missed some -- all on tap unless noted.

There's a place in Armory Square in Syracuse (near the University) that has 69 beers on tap (they supposedly couldn't fit any more). It's a great pace to go. Called the Blue Tusk.

Words to live by!

I like a good balance of hops and malt, but also tend toward the hoppier ESBs and IPAs. I'm not a very big fan of darker stouts and porters. But, I never stray away from trying any beer. I've literally tried 100+ (probably way more) brews, and some of my favorites are actually stouts, which I generally don't like. Gotta love Unibroue's Maudite served at Le Cellier

You should never pass up a chance to try a new brew ...

The bar at AKL has some African beers--Casa, Tusker, and another who's name escapes me at the moment.
WDW seems to be doing a bit better with their beer (in the resort hotels) than previously. This last trip (which was last week:) I was able to find Newcastle, Sam Seasonal, Widmer Heffeweizen, Amber Bock, Blue Moon Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada (among others) at the bars and restaurants.

The last time I stayed at AKL (5 years ago) they also had Tiger beer, don't know if that's the other one you're thinking of. I remember it being a fairly light beer.

Oooh....Blue Moon....my favorite

I'm just looking forward to trying all sorts of new beers. Nothing that I can find in a liquor store or bar here in SoCal......

I am glad to have brought in the beer drinkers of the community. I am to please.....

:cheer2:

Ohhh! You live in SoCal you have Carl Strauss there! Wish you could send me a whole case of Downtown After Dark! The last time my SIL came to visit she tried to bring me one, it broke in her suitcase !!! :scared1: What a mess, she must really like me :rolleyes1

I'm so gald you started this thread, I have taken lot's of notes.
I know lot's of people have mentioned Spaten in Germany I love the Spaten Octoberfest when they have it. But I'm usually there in October, don't know if they carry it all of the time.

Sorry for all the posts, I really have to learn how to do the multi quote thingy.
I understand there are only two states who have Sunday blue laws now, unfortunately I live in one of them. Here in biblebelt Gerogia you can get adult beverages in any establishment that serves food, after 12:30 pm, you don't have to buy food mind you. You can sit in a bar at Chili's for instance and get totally sloshed, but you can't go to a store buy it and take it home to drink. Dumbest law I ever heard ! Okay getting off the soapbox now, just wanted to share that bit of brillance with my fellow DIS beer drinkers.

So after your July trip you have to share with us what beers you tried, so take notes!

Can't buy at a liquor store here in CT either, but restaurants do serve on Sundays!
As far as beer in the World, I like the flight of beer at Rose & Crown, and Le Cellier has excellent beer choices. It is a fun challenge to do Beers Around the World at Epcot. There are many good choices there!
