Do any of the grocery dleivery services deliver beer? We're using ME and would like to get a case of beer for the rooms.

Garden Grocer will. You just put in the comment section exactly what you want.

Keep in mind if you use Garden Grocer, you need to order at least $40 of other items before you can add beer onto your order!

a lot of the resorts sell alcohol. I know POR sells beer and wine in their gift shop.. and POP sells wine in their food court ( not sure about the beer though! ):woohoo:

The resorts most all sell alcohol and beer but for what you pay for 2 cans of beer you could buy a six pack off property. Prices on alcohol are through the roof, they have most every kind though and if you only were to have a couple, guess the resorts stores are okay. We hit the grocery store in route, we stay 10-12 nights and in the Florida sun a few cold ones goes well during the day, pool side bars prices are too high also, we stock up before then there's no rationing of beers etc.

Slightly off topic here - I'm leaving for WDW in 2 days! We're staying on property (POFQ) and will not have our own transportation (no rental car, etc.).

My question - what would be my best bet to purchase a case (or two) of beer on our first days at Disney? I was planning on walking from Downtown Disney to Gooding's to pick up some beer with my brother. We're both BIG walkers, so the walk wouldn't be too bad. It looks like the Gooding's is about 1.5 miles away.

Is there a better option? Take a cab perhaps someplace? How easy is it to find a cab while at Disney?

Also, someone earlier mentioned bringing beer because poolside bars were too expensive. Do the resorts allow guests to drink their own alcohol by the pool??? I wouldn't think this is the case, but please enlighten me if it is!

Thanks for the help!

To answer again, my wife and I have done the walk from the bus stop at DTD to Goodings, about 1 mile, really not that bad seeing you'll be walking the whole vacation. We've purchased, beer, wine and sandwich fixings along with some snacks and walked back with them to the DTD bus stop. In the evening its a nice walk. I've posted before about Goodings and the walk and everyone jumps on and states that their prices are inflated. Compared to Disney prices we felt that Goodings were fine for what we picked up. Seemed no different then the stores back home and like I said way better than Disneys. Delivery service prices are ok but why pay, walk to Goodings, its alot cheaper than renting a car, delivery service, you pick what you want and see it, its only an hour out of my stay and having a couple of 18 packs chilling and some home made sandwiches for the pool are great.

Another answer, yes to the pool area with your drinks, they only frown on bottles, we get cans of beer, make mixed drinks in plastic cups and drink wine in the evening at the pool all the time. Another tip is they do not want drinks at pool edge, must stay back and at the tables its no problem, we have a collapseable cooler we take, load up the drinks, cover it with ice and spend alot of time at the pool noonish and evenings.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate your input.

Everything I hear about Disney's on-property prices for both food and alcohol seems to be very over-priced. I think I will take the Goodings route and pick up some drinks/snacks there.

I'm really surprised that Disney would be okay with people bringing their own alcohol pool-side. :yay: I figured they would definitely frown upon it.

The prices are very high at the resorts for beer and liquor. The cabs are very reasonable, though!:drinking1

To get some supplies from Goodings, you could take the walk, nicely lit blvd, and just get a cab when you're finished shopping back to either the DTD bus stop or your resort. We found that the cabs in Florida are quite pricey, long or short trips it ain't cheap. We do not use them at home and the only one we actually use on occasion is from the Amtrak station in Kissimmee to WDW, 40 bucks, I think as soon as you sit in a cab its 5 bucks. A walk to Goodings and a cab back ought to be the same as a delivery service delivery rate but you get to do the picking which we prefer to see what we're getting.

But how do you carry a few 18 packs along with groceries back to DTD?

Do you swipe the shopping cart and wheel it to DTD like a homeless person?

Oh boy, I bet that offends someone.

Hmmmm...I have been wondering about this, too. We will be arriving at CBR at around 1:30. I think that DH and I will check in, then take a bus to DD, walk to the grocery store (if it is really only 1-1.5 miles) to get our adult beverages and snacks, then take a cab back to CBR. This seems the least complicated to me!:goodvibes and I'm hoping to accomplish it all in 2 hours! Yes?

This sounds like a plan to me. Sending DH and DDad sounds even better.

YIPPIE!!!!! 36 days till CBR for us.

You'll have to let us know how you make out. I wonder if there is a gas station close by dtd ? Most gas stations in Florida sell beer????? Another idea, I check cases of water to take down with us, I wonder if I could check a case of beer? Does anyone think that would fly..... with TSA ?????

That would be awesome. I know I am packing some Rum so that my non-alcoholic drinks magicaly become, shall I say Rum infused.

We've used wegoshop.com for our past several trips. The delivery cost is more than worth my time while I'm on vacation--especially if you're going to take a cab back to your resort. No minimum to add beer at wegoshop. We always ask her to shop at Walmart--get some snacks for the room, water and a cheap styrofoam cooler.

Buying your own beer and water saves so much money during the trip that I'm not worrying about a small delivery fee;) ;)

Can you pack bottled alcohol in your checked bag? I know some of them come in plastic containers now.
