I am scheduling a grocery delivery with Wegoshop.com and would like to have them deliver some beer for me. I don't know what type of beer is sold at Publix. I live in Connecticut and typically drink IPA's (Harpoon, Dogfish Head 60 Minute, Smuttynose). I'm guessing these brands will not be available in Florida. Does anyone have experience with having beer delivered and can you recommend a good IPA that is sold at Publix. Thanks in advance for your help.

Harpoon has gone national, I think, so your chances there are good. But, if you are particular, I'd call a couple of them to see what they carry.

Good point. A simple phone call could answer my question. I'll shoot wegoshop.com an email since I haven't been able to find the answer on their website. But if anyone knows what Publix Wegoshop.com uses please feel free to share? Thanks!

Brian, Thanks for the reply. Not sure if you're a Michigan fan but I'll be heading up to Ann Arbor on Labor Day Weekend to watch my Huskies take on the Wolverines. Will be my first time to the Big House. Can't wait. Hopefully I'll see a UConn victory. Go Huskies!

Florida stores tend to be sort of spare on the hoppy beer. I've seen harpoon in the area, but not sure if it was publix. Probably dogfish head. Not smuttynose. There's supposed to be bell's two hearted somewhere, but I've never seen it in orlando myself. Maybe a stone ipa.

I went to Cal; Michigan just signs my checks. But, I'll be there---Section 16, row 42, seats 17 and 18. Just me and 110,000 of my closest friends. ;)

The way things are going right now, you should feel pretty good about your chances.

I just got off the phone with wegoshop.com and they said that both Harpoon and Dogfish Head Brand Beer is sold at Publix. I'm good to go.

I am a big Harpoon fan as well.

Most Publix that I have seen in the Southeast carry the Harpoon IPA.

The Raspberry UFO is another story... :confused3

Publix has a great selection of Micro Brews. You should be able to get a beer that you'll love and even perhaps a local beer that you can get at home.

They probably should have Stone since they sell it ABC...nothing like a craft beer out by the pool!

I've seen Bell's, Avery and Boulder around too.

I too prefer the micro brews. My favorite is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Not sure if they will have that. Since we stay at BWV, all we have to do is walk down to Big River Grille and Brewery. They have some really tasty brews in there.

I know I have seen that brew in some Publix stores.

You might get lucky!

The big house is an experience in itself, largest stadium in the nation. You will have a great time even if the huskies don't win.

Jerry has obviously carefully investigated the beers available at Publix stores in the WDW area. Good job Jerry!

My experience in Miami is that there is great variance in what's available - both from store to store, and also within the same store from day to day. We live close by one of the new BIG Publix markets, and we shop every 2-3 days rather than weekly. I've learned (especially with beer) that if I see something I like, I'd better buy it because it won't be there tomorrow.

It's really a crapshoot unless you just love Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Light.

What I'd suggest to OP is give Wegoshop a priority list of beers you'd be satisfied with and have them do the best they can.

If you're without a car if you are staying at the Epcot resort area you can walk over to the Hess station and pick up a six pack of Sam Adams Boston lager (the quintesssential lifeboat beer) for like $8.49...sure beats Disney prices.

How far (How long to walk) would you say it is from BWV's to the Hess Station?

a country block. They have that other in-a-bind lager, Yengling, for about the same price a six-pack as disney charges for one.

WOW! I just looked at a satelite image of the Boardwalk area and Hess's IS really close. So do they usually stock craft beers like Sierra Nevada?

It really isn't more than a 5-7 minute walk at most from the BW valet entrance. No Sierra unfortunately, Sams or Yuengling are the best they have to offer.

The best selection I've seen in Orlando is at Knightley Spirits up by Universal...if you are staying for a while and have a car and you're really into craft beer this is the place to go. We have 10 nights at BWV in Oct so we'll probably stop here direct from the airport before checking in.
