Beer at Disney Recommendation List

Anyone know of any IPAs on tap on Disney grounds?

I've never seen one. :sad2: I'd be surprised if they ever had anything of interest (beer geek interest) in bottles (the Unibroue beers in Canada would be the only exception) or on tap. Non-mainstream beers don't have enough mass appeal, so they don't generate enough $$$ for the Mouse. Even the beers at Raglan Road, listed in another post, are all mainstream, easily found at most places you can buy beer at home.

I remember seeing Dogfish Head IPA in bottles at the Swan. Can't remember if it was the 60 or 90 minute IPA - definately wasn't the 120 minute. I think someone mentioned in a previous thread that they might have Dogfish Head IPA at the Crew Cup lounge? If so, that's a great find!

The Poly has Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale. Definaltey not an IPA, but it's not too bad ... it sort of has a flowery/citrus like hops infusion that doesn't give the hop burn, but has some hop flavor. Sort of like Troegs Hop Back Amber (not to be confused Troegs Nugget Nectar with has a ton of hops)

That is really amazing to share about something like that.....

From my point of view it will be Boddingtons - Rose & Crown

All of you can try this for a moment...........

They have Anchor Steam at the California Grill and Dos Equis Amber on draft at Paridiso 37.
If I lived near WDW I think I'd go to all the restaurants and compile a "beer menu". That's something that --as we see from this thread--needs to be done and kept current. Too many of the published menus have partial beer lists--or in many cases, no list at all. But it would require some "on the ground" work and contacts with the various bars and restaurants to keep it up to date.

bcuinohio: Yuengling is pretty good and I believe they have a brewery right in Florida now--or at least a distributor. But around here, it's available at every biker club, restaurant, bar and American Legion Post. In fact, I can't recall a place where it isn't available:)

Some sort of current beer list of what's on tap on Disney property would be great. Maybe a listing of the better beers available in bottle would be cool too. Here's a list generated just from this list:

Biergarten: Spaten Oktoberfestbier, Optimator
Rose and Crown: Guinness, Boddingtons, Bass
Italian Pavillion: Peroni
Japan: Kirin
Norway: Carlsberg
France: Kronenbourg 1664
Canada: Unibroue (in bottle only)

Animal Kingdom: Safari Amber Ale (made by Anheuser Bush)

POFQ: Abita Purple Haze

Big River:
Gadzooks Pilsner - "Golden, medium-bodied, crisp finish."
Rocket Red Ale - "Red in color, robust body, malty finish."
Southern Flyer Light Lager - "Light gold, light-bodied, extremely refreshing."
Steamboat Pale Ale - "Golden color, medium-bodied, flavorful finish."
Sweet Magnolia Brown Ale (Winter Seasonal) - "Light brown, medium-bodied, subtle sweet finish."
Wowser's Wheat (Summer Seasoal) - "Light Gold, light-bodied, effervescent finish."

Raglan Road: Guinness, Murphy’s Red Creamy Irish Ale, Smithwicks Irish Ale, Harp Irish Lager, Boddingtons’s Ale, Bass Ale, Stella Artios, Kronenbourg 1664,
Tucher Hefeweiss, Strongbow Cider, Newcastle Brown Ale

Jikos: Tusker

Poly: Kona Longboard, Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale

California Grill: Anchor Steam

Safari Amber Ale at AK is Michelob Amber Bock.

A lot of places have their own Amber beers like Uno's Chicago bar and grill for an example, all it is Amber Bock sadly. I'm assuming they to do cross marketing in attempt to make more profit.

Another cross marketing is Sam Adams Food and Wine Festival beer. Rumor has it is that the brew is just their Winter Lager...

They have Yuengling on tap at the Disney Hollywood Studios backlot bar. We can get that anywhere here. I remember at Pop a few years back it was considered a specialty beer.

Not to throw a wet blanket--or a damp bar towel-- on any of this, but despite the selections discussed here, I can find almost all of these at my neighborhood Kroger store. Even the Unibroue:thumbsup2

I understand WDW must cater to mainstream tastes but it'd be fun to run into a few "off the beaten path" beers from the various countries represented.

When I see these threads I always think the person asking must be thinking along the same lines. Guiness is great, but a rare treat it isn't.:confused3

Agreed...just as long as they don't taste like BL or any other American golden beer! Darn that 80/20 rule.

Can you still get a Black & Tan at the British pub? DH loves those. I used to get Tennants (sigh...) so I guess it'll be Boddington's if I want another beer.

A few of my favorites:

#1 Safari Amber. Found at the Dawa Bar in Harambe, Africa (Animal Kingdom). Also sold at the Flametree BBQ.
#2 Rocket Red Ale. At Big River Brewery.
#3 Gadzooks Pilsner. At Big River Brewery.

Epcot Beers:
- Tsingtao at China Pavilion in Epcot.
- Spaten at Somerfest CS in Germany Pavilion in Epcot.
- Peroni at Italy Pavilion.
- Negro Modelo at Mexico Pavilion.
- Carlsberg at Norway Pavilion.
- Casa Beer at Morocco Pavilion.
- Sapporo at Japan Pavilion.

I totally agree with this too (as the original poster, you were correct). It would be a lot of fun -- and a LOT more interesting -- if they had something unique from each of the countries. They have unique wines from Africa at Bomas and Jikos, right? Why not something more for the beer snob crowd?!

Alas, I'm happy that they do have SOMETHING other than the Buds and Miller Lites of the world.

I love the Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale at Poly. So yummy.

I love to see all of the Purple Haze fans here. That's my favorite beer!

Totally agree. There's nothing I've seen at Disney that I can't find here at home, with the exception of Safari Amber (which I suspect is just Amber Bock, anyway).

Mmmmmmmm......Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale. Good stuff indeed!

I too am a big fan of Kona Cafe and always order one of the Kona Brewing Company beers when I am there. I did find it a little amusing when I examined the bottle last time I was at Kona and discovered the beer I was enjoying was brewed in Portsmouth, NH, not far from where I live. Aloha, New Hampshire!

Yea its brewed by Red Hook Brewery. From what I can see on kona's web site they also brew it in Hawaii but obviously it is a production/distribution plant.
