For those of you who have been to Big River Grill & Brewing Works at the Boardwalk, what did you think of the beer? I understand it's a microbrewery, and we're definite beer snobs (for example, Guiness is considered bottom of the line for us), so opinions from people who are picky about beer would be really helpful.

We're staying at POFQ, so I'm trying to determine if taking the time to get over to the Boardwalk would be worthwhile for this, rather than taking the easy way out and going to dinner at DTD.

Depends on just how snobby you are about beer. I am something of a beer snob, but probably not as snobby as you. ;)

I really like Big River, but it could be because there are very few other options for drinkable beer on Disney property.

I'm a bit less snobby than some of the others in my party. I'm good with Guiness, and Yuengling, but prefer craft beers and a lot of local breweries (Sweetwater and Terrapin for my part of the country...though Sweetwater stomps Terrapin hands down). I'm also a big fan of Victory Brewing Co. products and Blue Moon.

If Big River Grill stacks up to at least Terrapin, Blue Moon or Yuengling, I'll be okay. :)

Neither my husband nor I enjoy the beer at Big River. We are not total beer snobs and my husband will drink most anything but even he mentioned that he did not care for it. Just one opinion though, I always try something once to see if I will like it regardless of the reviews.

I enjoy Yuengling. I've had a Victory once and liked it, and Blue Moon is OK -- not a lot of flavor there, but I don't mind drinking it. What I'm trying to say is, I'm OK with those same beers you enjoy and I'm OK with the beers at Big River. It's not amazing beer, but I think it's enjoyable enough and love sitting on the Boardwalk while I drink them.

I thought they had some good selections in May. You should stop by, grab one of their flights and go to town.

We've been to 2 different Big River locations - Boardwalk and Nashville, TN. My husband enjoys beer a lot and liked a number of their beers. He really liked the IPA but not sure if that was at the Boardwalk. The selection was a different at each location and changes from time to time. Getting a flight to share is a great idea. Then you can follow it up with a tall one of the one you like best.

I'm not much of a beer drinker but they had brewed root beer in Nashville. Not sure if they have it at the Boardwalk. The sangria was really good too.

DH and I are absolute beer snobs. I think Blue Moon is fairly pedestrian but would drink it in a pinch.:snooty::lmao: That said, we have stopped by Big River twice and had a beer or two. The pale ale wasn't bad and they had a pumpkin ale last fall that I enjoyed. The food is so/so but I would suggest grabbing a sampler or pint(or both) and sitting outside to enjoy the Boardwalk. It's the best place on property that I have found to relax and people watch.

Beers like Blue Moon, Terrapin or Yuengling are the bottom line of quality for me--meaning I'll drink them if there's nothing else, but they're definitely not my first choices!

I think we might give Big River a try, though. And we'll be going in October, so perhaps they'll have that pumpkin ale you mentioned?
