and I've always wondered how everyone has the shirts printed - is there a vendor on the street or something that prints out their shirts? Or does everyone go to their local shop & have them done?

You can make them youself if you have a laser printer. Just buy the transfer paper, print it out, and iron it one.

Except that most of these people usually use those individual "felt" letters. I guess they get them made up...but you can buy the letters in craft stores, too.
