Been MIA for far to long....

life got in the way a couple years ago and have missed being on DIS and you all! some really good stuff and unfortunately really awful stuff too....back in 2007 DH finally started his own company and we got really busy, along with all my volunteer duties at DD school I took on co-president for our Parent Club life really got super busy that I barely had time to breath let along do DIS or scrapbook (I am about 2 years behind right now).

We lost my sweet DH Jim on 1/12/10...he landed in Haiti the day of the earthquake and was in the Hotel Montana, he was recovered on 2/10 and finally brought back to us, our lives have been so upside down since that day.
Megan and I recently moved back up to WA state to be near family and have been getting settled in to our new place and our life without Jim.

I have decided to get back on DIS since I really need some motivation to start scrapping again so we can enjoy our memories in photos we have with Jim. I will start back on the monthly goals for now and hope to maybe do some swaps again in the future.

Megan and I are planning a WDW in April, we so need our "Happy Place" and a break from reality too!

Welcome back! I am so saddened to hear of your husband's passing at such a young age and in a catastrophe that so many of us followed on the news for an extended time.
It is wonderful that you are able to be close to family now - you and your daughter need them as much as they all love you both.
You have the most wonderful and supportive group here, and they will help re-motivate you to get scrapping and rediscover the "happier places" in life, especially WDW.

I'm glad you are back in WA to be near loved ones. And your imaginary friends are here too. Hopefully we can help you enjoy your memories with Jim. I think scrapping is therapeutic.

Thank you ladies....we are doing the best we can each day, some better than others, but the really bad days are getting fewer and fewer. The unknown of them finding Jim was the hardest 29 days I have ever had to go through. We fell very blessed that he was brought home to us.
Megan is doing pretty well, a little scared about starting a new school and all. We have reconnected with some old friends, one of which has a DD Megans age, they have become BFF's!
I know the scrapbooking will bring us joy in looking over the past photos, I am so lucky I have done so much photo taking in the past. I had done a DVD at Jim's memorial and I plan on making it into a special book for Megan as a x=mas present.
Thanks again for all the support, I'm looking forward to reconnecting to my scrap buddies again!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I am glad you are able to be near family. I had wondered how you were doing- I knew you were going to be off the boards for awhile after our evening talking at the Pop and that trip but I wondered about you from time to time.

Lisa, I am so, so sorry about Jim's passing. Such a sad thing for you and Megan to go thru. I think you will find it good therapy to preserve all those precious memories you were blessed with. Perhaps Megan can include some journaling with items such as her favorite present her Dad gave her, the funniest thing he ever said and/or did, etc.

I know getting back to my scrapping will help, hope to start again soon and get back on track more when Megan goes back to school in 3 weeks. Since I won't be doing so much at school this year (going to fly under the radar) and luckily I don't have to go back to work for awhile I plan on taking advantage of my time during the day.
