Hi there, I used to read the boards all the time but I haven't for a good long while...lots of different reasons for that!
I have now resumed listening to the podcasts and am getting back into it, I wonder if the chat part of the site is compatible with my Ipad or whether it is powered by a flash app? Sadly Mr Jobs doesn't like Flash so if it is I might have to miss out because I don't have access to any other computers these days!

Hope some one can answer this for me, the only reason I didn't submit it as a question to the podcast team is that Im sure it has been asked before!

Thanks!

I am going to move this to our Podcast Board. They are the experts on all thing "I" . I am sure someone there can help you.

Nice to have you back!:)

I am using an iPad right now, but I have to switch over to a regular computer on chat nights.

Your a star man Kevin! don't do yourself down I still think boiling an egg is a great skill and I bet you can do that better than me as well!
Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone, it was worse than prison it was a prolonged break from Disney holidays ;)

This link will allow you to chat on your ipad.

I apologize for not knowing the mechanics of why it works. Someone smarter...or at least more interested....will explain it, I'm sure.

That link points chat to the HTML/AJAX version of chat. Since Apple does not support flash on IOS products, you have to use a different version of chat that does not require flash. The link Kevin provided works on Iphones, Android Phones, Wii, and on home computers.

It is very similar to the old IRC chat rooms.

I knew someone smarter than me could explain it.;)

makes me feel like I should learn more about IT...oh who am I kidding ;)

Thank you for posting that link! I know Kevin posted the link in chat a few weeks ago but I didn't have my iPad with me at the time and was too embarrassed to ask for the link again. Awesome!!!

Cool!
I just sort of tested it.
Where will I be able to find that link on chat nights?

This would be for just in case the regular computer is not available. Truth is, I do not type as fast or as correctly on the iPad. And the iPad has slower response time than the MacBook, which would be really bad in chat!

So glad you posted this, I have been trying to leave my laptop at home when I travel and only take the iPad, but the chat feature was making me want to bring the laptop.

I got a bluetooth keyboard and it makes the typing a whole lot easier.

Where you will be able to find it will greatly depend on where you decide to put it.

You can bookmark it in Safari.

You can make an onscreen icon for it.

You can write it on a post it and stick it to something.

Those are just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Kevin, fabulous answers! Thanks. Somehow my brain just blanked out on the obvious.

I used to have a gazzillion categories of Netscape bookmarks. Now I usually just Google what I am looking for.

I would not have thought of bookmarking Safari. One, still not used to the fact that I am using Apple Safari (silly me). Two, it is not my iPad, so I would not be putting in bookmarks.

Seeing that I do not have a bluetooth keyboard and don't type so well on the iPad, I think I will just do chat on nights I can use a regular computer.

But good to know there is an alternative!
