As much as I cook.... I've never made beef strogonoff! :confused3 It was a favorite of mine as a child. Anyway, I made a delicious roast in the crockpot yesterday and had a ton of leftovers ~ I kind of separated the meat into big shredded type peices - has anyone used this rather than ground beef for strogonoff??? I was thinking since I had a nice broth as well as gravy - I could heat it all up add some cream of mushroom soup, sour cream and a splash of white wine and serve it over egg noodles:idea: Suggestions anyone? THANKS!!!:goodvibes

Thanks! My mother always made it with ground beef...:confused3 :thumbsup2 probably alot cheaper back then feeding five. I thought it would be alot tastier with a roast too! We shall see! I'm going to pick up a nice loaf of crusty bread on my way home from work.

We use ground beef but I think any cut of meat that is soft would do.

We just use the broth (seasoned of course), thickend, and sour cream and a touch of cream.

I always use stew beef for stroganoff. I think leftover roast would be perfect! I use cream of mushroom soup, lipton beefy onion soup mix and then add the sourcream before serving. Delicious!

Okay ~ when is lunch??? :lmao: All this strogonoff talk is making me hungry!

I think it will be awesome! I use steak strips in mine with the thickened gravy and sour cream.

How ironic! I have beef cubes in the crockpot today with cream of mushroom soup that I will serve over egg noodles....

Oh boy! This is one of my favorite meals.

I am so hungry! I think that I will have to have a Stroganoff Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles for lunch! (And only 4 WW points! :cool1: )

Yes, Ive done it with actual beef strips. Yummy! make sure you add some of the broth in as well as a splash of worcestershire sauce in with the cream of mushroom soup & sour cream. The recipe is usually on the back of one of the Campbell's soup cans. make sure you get a label for the beef stroganoff, not one of their chicken recipes. They alternate on the cans.

No kidding... only four points?! I live by weightwatchers! I'm not on a diet per say - but it's such a well rounded way of eating. DH has to keep his sugar in check and his Dr. told us that the ww plan mocks a diabetic diet. Anyway ~ it has worked well for us! I'll have to pick up some of the singles to keep at the office. Especially with all this strogonoff talk!:rotfl: I can't wait to make dinner tonight ~ I'll have to let you all know how it turns out!

Thanks! I would have totally forgotten to add worcestershire sauce! Yum!:thumbsup2

Yes! Isn't that great! It makes up a nice sized portion. Of course not too big - but with a vegetable of some kind it's enough. Cheesy Beef Taco is 4 points too. Cheeseburger Macaroni is 5 points.
I'll have to let you all know how it turns out!
I'm sure that it will be great! And even though I am going to have the HH Stroganoff, I really wish that I was having yours. :)

:goodvibes Thanks Beth... Now let's see if my DH and kids give it a thumbs up! ;)

Just thought I'd let you all know... My beef stroganoff turned out DeLiCioUs!!!!! My family loved it! I brought leftovers into the office for lunch today and sent leftovers with dh as well!

I have beef stew (cubes) meat in the freezer. If I put it in the crockpot for strogonoff what else would I add to it. Details if anyone has them, I have never made this unless it from a box!!! My family would love it homemade!!!! I think I might have the stuff already at home to make this. Just want to make sure on what else to add:cool1: Thank you!!!

I used left over roast that I had made in the crockpot the day before, If I was cooking it in the crockpot I would probably just add a can of beef broth and some worcesteshire sauce for a little zing... then just forget about it until you get home - letting it slow cook like this will give you a nice savory broth that you can thicken with some corn starch or flour... then stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream and I always add some white wine and a little more worcesteshire sauce. If you have fresh mushrooms they would be great. Then just toss with egg noodles! Enjoy!

We had beef stroganoff for dinner last night! It's one of my favorite comfort food meals! We always use beef stew meat, and I've never cooked it in the crock pot! I guess you can cook anything in the crockpot!!
