Bee-line to SDMT

Hello all! We are 13 days out until our trip to WDW!! : So, I totally missed the boat when everyone was on the internet getting FP+'s for the SDMT, which will open a few days prior to our arrival. That means that we do not have a FP+ for it

My question: Does anyone have any suggestion on the best way to get to SDMT at rope drop? My family already thinks I am crazy, so getting in line for park open early will be bad enough for them! But, I want suggestions. Thank you in advance for contributing to our magic! (huddle)

Most direct route from the Hub would be the northeast spoke to Mad Tea Party then hang a left to 7DMT. Whether CMs will allow guests do this via rope drop procedures remains to be seen.

That is what I was thinking too...with the new RD procedure, I'm not sure if CMs will allow anyone to make a b-line for that ride, but then again you never know.

I will be doing the same thing just looked at my Fast pass Plus. I got them the day of the shut down, however I was just looking at my plans and I booked PM instead of AM!!

I cannot believe it on her birthday too any day would have been fine to be messed up but not that day! She doesn't even know we are going it's a surprise trip! So we too will be rope dropping and hoping for the best unless I can figure out how to switch our schedule around.. but it would mean no fast passes all day long since the time is 10:45 PM - 11:45 PM...

I was thinking the best way to get there was that way but haven't been to MK since the new RD procedure. I guess we will see. Either way, it's gotta be shorter heading there at rope drop rather than waiting. Hopefully the wait won't be longer than an hour...

I've booked an 8am ADR at Cindy's for May 28th so am hoping to be ahead of the crowd!!!! If not we've got a 9.20am FP+ but I'm hoping for a turn before that.

Get there early early like an hour before park opening...at rope drop follow the crowd of crazy people and if your sb wait is 30 minutes or less... enjoy..job well done

Keep checking for FP+ for SDMT because they were all gone for the first few opening days and as of right now (just before midnight Sunday) there is FP+ available on May 29. I realize that this doesn't help OP because those aren't your dates, but it does mean that either people are cancelling or Disney is adding passes. I know these weren't available on Friday when I checked for a friend, but we were able to get her passes today for 29th....and in checking just now they are still available.

I bet with as popular as this new ride is going to be, Disney likely will be releasing more fast passes. With as quickly as they went the first day, my guess is that they likely withheld some FPs so that guests that weren't able to initially access the program were still able to participate, too.

I just did RD at MK last week. We were headed for Space Mt. but everyone headed to Fantasyland was kept in check behind a rope all the way until Fantasyland. I imagine this was for Anna and Elsa. Those going to Adventureland or Tomorrowland were allowed to break away at their respective bridge, but were met by another group of CMs with a rope. I would think there would be something to prevent you from going the Mad Tea Party route, so to be safe, I would stick with the Fantasyland crowd. There is nothing worse than having a route you planned for blocked and then holding you up getting to your destination. I also think that if you are among the first at that rope your wait won't be astronomical. Try not to stress and get there as early as you can. I suggest two hours prior to opening, that's what I did all week and was always the first on rides.

If you can't score a change in tiume for the 7DMT, I recommend talking to a CM at a FP+ kiosk area. They are so helpful and have special powers. My friend missed his Soarin' FP+ because his flight was delayed over an hour. He got to the park jus tminutes late...they swapped him for an anytime Soarin' and he was able to go with us later (since we had some we swapped out that morning because AK was dead). If you explain it to them, I bet they would fix that late time for you.

I would think there would be something to prevent you from going the Mad Tea Party route, so to be safe, I would stick with the Fantasyland crowd.

I would imagine it being just the opposite. Disney is not going to want one mass of people all going through the castle. My prediction: On the way down Main Street, people will be told that if they are going to the Mine Train, they should follow the CMs with the rope on the right, and they will cross the northeast spoke toward the Mad Tea Party. People who are heading toward A&E will be told to follow the rope in the middle, and they will be led through the castle. Having both the Mine Train crowd and the A&E crowd stay together all the way to and through FL would be the absolute worst idea imaginable.
