I am still waffling between Car. Beach and Royal Pacific for my January trip. Car. Beach only has double beds (unless I pay $15/night extra for a king). So how big are they really, compared to a queen? Is a double bed comfortable for 2 adults to sleep together in one bed? (It won't go over very well if we have to sleep separately!!)

Also, has anyone ever received a king bed upon request at check-in when you've reserved a double?

If you are used to a queen a double bed will seem very chummy. We never had a problem since we figured it would only be for our vacation.

At home we have a king size bed so we really appreciate a queen when we travel. We did stay at CB one time and we did manage OK it wasn't horrendous, there was one night when DS's were really picking on each other, so DH and I split up and we each had one kid with us which gave a lot more room as they were still little at the time.

Personally I would pay the $15.00 for the king bed. The size of a double bed is not much larger than a twin.....I can barely sleep well in a queen size bed with DH, I cannot imagine what a nightmare a double would be.
