I have a matching set of whitewashed furniture that I love. We plan to get a King size mattress(giving one of the kids our Queen bed), and a Headboard.

Since dark wood is popular now, I don't know what color to choose for the headboard.
Help[! :confused3

Where's your heart on the issue? Do you eventually want all dark wood furniture? It's you that has to sleep in the room every night. If you're happy with what you've got, go with the whitewash.

It's not like it's going to be in or out of style in the next few months...it's just a personal choice.

It's not exactly "in" this year, but we were in a similar situation and went with brass. You could also avoid the wood issue by doing dark metal or apolstered (ok, I can't for the life of me figure out how to spell that. I think there's an h, but I've looked up various spellings and can't find it in my dictionary!).

I'd happily trade my dark wood set, but for now I suggest going with metal. That's what I have. It's nice to have a bit of contrast from all of the wood.

Sheesh! That's why I couldn't find it in the dictionary!

Its not in around here thats for sure..all the stores have all light wood bedroom furniture displays and only a couple dark wood ones. I really don't like dark wood, made the bedroom seem "grandmotherly" to me....

How about getting no headboard at all? That's what I would do because I hate to have furniture that doesn't match.

When I was growing up absolutely none of the furniture in my house matched except for the dining room table and china cabinet. I think most of the pieces in my bedroom as a kid were all hand me down...ah, sorry...according to one of my sisters they were "family heirlooms" or antiques. My mom was a child of the depression and she always joked that her decorating style was "Early Depression" since nothing matched and all the stuff was old. Heck, the house still has the same almost 40 year old carpeting in the living and dining rooms. My parents figured there were better things to spend the money on instead of matching furniture. So now, DH and I have mostly matching furniture but some are still unique pieces of family heirlooms that I haven't figured out (nor have any interest to) strip and re-stain.
