Bedding Report is simply GROSS!

I always forget about the comforters being totally disgusting until I lay in bed and place my arms outside of the blankets...THEN, I remember, get back out of bed and pull the comforter off. That's not enough though because now I have to go wash my arms and hands in hot soapy water until I feel degermed.

Wait a minute... I must have missed something. Where did someone make fun of your opinion or imply that how you feel is a "joke"? I certainly hope you don't think I was doing that... certainly not!
I just couldn't resist the "you were a child at some point" comment. I'm sorry..... I didn't mean it like to make fun of you opinion or that how you felt was a joke or anything of that nature. I certainly hope those that made those comments aren't referring to me! :(

I didn't post anything like that - it was beebumble that made those comments.

This thread has gotten somewhat off topic and has turned into a battle. I was certainly not expanding or twisting words in my post, but using dramatic license, which surely others have used also, if I recall correctly. Sorry I don't have kids, as I've mentioned, nor siblings, so how would I know the changing habits of children?

If some individuals (including me) feel so strongly (and that's understandable) a simple solution is to request clean bedding. Hopefully, housekeeping would be willing to change the blanket and the bedspread. I just don't know whether to be honest about the request (I don't want to sit on body fluids) or offer no reason or say something spilled on it. What do you all plan to do?

What about the robes? Are they changed and laundered between guests. Not to open another Pandora's Box or anything...

I never imagined so many would reply to my topic. It makes me laugh. When I joined a week ago I got 10 Welcomes. I post about this topic I knew nothing about and wow 102 REPLIES

Have A disney Nite

I think this topic has been exhausted. WHo would like to start another.

Cinderella37. Beebumble posted it but right after you and I had our little "exchange" (me joking around and you joking back) and then Cindie-rella posted about the "joke" and I thought it was YOU that posted that.

ack! Different Cinderella...... LOL

I have to say one thing....while nothing I read on this thread came as a surprise, it was certainly good for a laugh or two!!

Seriously, I have mascara running down my cheeks and tears in my eyes!!

It is hilarious to see the train of thought that's gone on here....not that I don't take some of it seriously and think there's a basis for concern, but if you've got a slightly warped sense of humor and can just visualize the various post-ers writing these things, it makes for a fun few minutes of reading!! Or imagine Robin Williams doing a stand-up of this material!! It's too too good!!!

You guys are seriously the best!! :grouphug: :jester:

beebumble - thanks for your support! The nice thing about this board is the various opinions about just about anything.

wdwpixie - can you imagine a non-Disney fan (though I can't imagine any exist...) reading this thread? They'd probably think we were all crazy, but it's just our detail-oriented selves DIScussing every little detail! You're right, it is funny. :D

This is the way I see it....I just simply do not open my mind to possibilities that would ick me out. Unless I run into something visibly gross, I refuse to spend time thinking about all of the potentially gross things out there.
For me, life (ie vacation time) is WAY too short to spend even a moment pondering what possible places my body could happen to come in contact with other peoples 'fluids'. I understand that other people see it another way. I just refuse to 'go there'...

It's nice that you have such control, PoohAndWendy... I'm the type that once it's in my mind- it's real hard to just "not go there". LOL I'd rather not know in the first place..

I refuse to spend time thinking about all of the potentially gross things out there.

I don't think about ALL the potentially gross things out there= not even close to all... but I'll have a hard time looking at a bedspread in a hotel or resort the same ever again. LOL

Sorry I just had to add this to the post!
Have you seen the commercial where the guy goes to jump on the bed but stops in mid air.
The bed is filled with **************
Yuk !!!!Gross!!!
It reminded me of this post!
heheehehehehe
:Pinkbounc :hyper: :bounce:

Oh yeah, that's the Clorox bleach commercial. Blech. There's a bubbling pool of muck in the middle of the bed that he's getting ready to dive into ... "your sheets aren't as clean as you think". GROSS!

This whole bed thing has me laughing.. The first time me and my wife went to a hotel together she brought her own blanket. I said to her what's that for, she said to sleep on. I didn't think nothing of it. When bedtime came she spread her blanket on the bed and then wrapped herself in it. She looked like a mummy. Of course me I was under the comforter and sheets. I'm like what are you mad at me, what did i do. She said nothing i just don't sleep on any hotel comforters or sheets,, there disgusting and dirty. Well since that everytime we go to a hotel, we bring a blanket and an extra comforter and bascially make our own bed.. Now at least i can hold her at night in hotels... She also disinfects the whole bathroom before she uses it too..

i also worked at a hotel ...holiday inn line. like another poster said, there is no way laundry could keep up if the entire bedding was washed...sheets were all that were washed unless there was stain. - i also worked in laundry area and i had 8hrs filled with just sheets let alone blankets and comforters too.
also....the blankets and comforters would not last more than 3 washes and have to be thrown out, they are not heavy like " at home" blankets and comforters ( OK the hotels i have stayed at or cleaned- never been to a $$$ hotel)
i also throw the comforter off the bed at a hotel first thing...not only because they are most likey full if ICK, but because they fall off teh bed when you sleep anyway :hyper:

We used a tip I learned from these boards on our last trip regarding germs and the remote control. We brought a ziploc baggie and put the remote in there. It works just fine and there's no need to sanitize it. I loved this tip!

I have always done the same thing, the minute we go to bed that comforter is torn completely off the bed and sits on the floor! I don't trust anything myself.
The reader that marks the comforter...you didn't say...did you get new comforters back or did you find they put back the old ones?

I, too, would like to preface by saying I am not a germaphob (sp?). However, I am always more comfortable with my own bedding, no matter what hotel, especially my own pillow.

This is what we did. We bought one of those big oversized suitcases and we take our own bedding. A full or queen sheet set, a quilt and a couple of pillows easily squish into the suitcase. Ive even been able to take two double sets when the doubles are all we could get. It is one extra bag to check when we fly but well worth it. When we get there, I make the bed with our blankets from home and we sleep much, much better!!

i have a question! okay, i AM a bit of a germophobe (I do have immune system issues tho, as well as asthma and serious dust mite allergy) and so want to try taking my own sheets/pillows this time.

aside from taking really loud colors of sheets...how do you keep the maids from putting the hotel ones back on the bed? do you ask them not to make the beds? do you put the comforters in the closet or something? LOL I tip mousekeepers WELL and am thinking of just asking them to leave the beds be. but oh, i do love to come home to a made up bed lol

I want to do the extra suitcase thing this time...a pillow for each and at least a couple sheets to put on top and bottom of the hotel ones and the comforters ALWAYS go no matter where I stay.

One time we stayed at the ASsports and we DID find blood on a comforter. needless to say they came and stripped both beds down to the mattress at my insistence.

Also, I took a washcloth down to the front desk in a ziplock bag, it was BLACK after I had wiped down the sink and tub (used disposable wipes on the toilet). the manager was so sickened by what she saw she discounted our rate for the first night.

So laugh if you want at those of us who clean the bathrooms...i wouldn't have it any other way.

thanks!

I didn't get to read all the posts, but I was SO SUPER sick on our last trip (the day I landed and checked into WL, I was so miserable, I wanted to turn right back around :faint: ) but those "gross/dirty" blankets and a bottle of Nyquil (sp?) got me back on my feet w/in 2 days. And to make things even sound even more gross, I layered the two comforters together and WRAPPED myself in it :scared: (WHY couldn't I have found this thread before!) Now that I think about it, I can't decide which is "grosser" those blankets or the sick germs/fart smells circulating in our flight over to WDW! :scared:

Now that I think about the "gross/dirty" blanket and the thought of what's really on it...I'm a bit skeeved...but during my last trip, I was quite thankful of it...dirty or not. (I know, that's sick :crazy2: )

Sigh...just thought I'd share my joyful story in here. I'm gonna go shower myself w/ Lysol now... :teeth:
