What exactly is the difference in dimensions between double, queen, and king beds? I remember that double beds were rather tight last time we used them at WDW, so we've always requested King. On our next stay, beds are queen size. Someone said queens are only 1" wider, but that doesn't seem right. How much wider than doubles are they? DH and I want to know if we'll be nearly as crowded as a double.

The 'formal' definitions are:

Double : 54" x 75"

Queen : 60" x 80"

King : 76" x 80"

At WDW there seem to be 2 different definitions for 'Queen' sized beds: the AKL/WL definition and the rest of the deluxes definition. The AKL/WL 'Queen' bed is noticeably smaller than the 'Queen' bed at the Poly for example. I don't know whether the AKL/WL definition is following the standard or whether the Poly definition is following the standard but I find the AKL/WL beds a bit small for two adults for my taste. It would not surprise me to find out that the AKL/WL Queen is only 1 inch larger than a double...
