Hi there,
We are so excited, we are off to our home resort SSR with DS3 in 6 weeks time :yay:

Last time we visited, he was 18 months and sleeping in a pack and play which was fine. This time he will be in a bed, but at home he has a low bed and also a bed guard to stop him falling out. We are staying in a 2 bed, and the plan is for my sister to have the master bedroom and dh and I to share the double room with DS. So he'll have a large double bed, but I'm still worried that he has no concept of the edge of the bed, and he'll roll out - which is quite a drop as they are tall beds.

Anyway after all that waffle - my question is really is it possible to get a bed guard at SSR? Can we hire one? Also - any parents of little ones out there, how have your little ones adjusted to these enormous beds?

Thanks for listening

We packed our bed guard on the bottom of the duffle bag suitcase. They did fine in the bed. We now just take the couch mattress out and put it on the floor by our king bed. Fits great and the kids sleep well.

We requested bedrails from housekeeping. They were free. If the bed seems overwelming try placing pillows along the side rails.

Thank you both!
I shall contact housekeeping, as would rather not add bedrails to my luggage... also if we can't get them, then we could make a pillow barrier towards each side of the bed - what a great idea. Thanks so much

My understanding and experience is that all Disney hotels and resorts have bed rails. We requested two for our boys sharing the double and housekeeping brought then up without a problem. If you want to triple-check, you can call the front desk before you depart to make sure. But it's a liability issue for any hotel that they are willing to mitigate easily. Have housekeeping put the rails on or show you how they work. All are slightly different and you want to be sure they are installed properly to work. They should be extremely tight to the bed.

I used to get bed rails at values. (They were the same brand I used at home, so that was a nice touch ;) )
With DVC, I never bothered asking. As a PP mentioned, The pull out couch gives a little rail with the arms, then I would put a coffee table and couch cushions/pillows around so there was enough to be safe :)

Put it on your reservation and the rails will be in your room when you get there. We had two sets in march in the GV at OKW, plus a full size crib :cool1:

we have used them for the last 6 yrs. This august at AKV Kidani we requested them again. Actually forgot to make it in our reservations but they quickly brought them to the room. They were a new model than we have used at OKW. These actually adjust for the depth of the mattress. So basically the railing part was really high on the bed and there was no way that DS4 would roll over them. It did make it hard to put him into the bed asleep bc they were so high up but for the few minutes of getting into bed it made a world of difference in a good night sleep for all of us. Well except DS10 who shared a bed bc DS4 would sleep side to side and DS10 would end up w/ leg at his neck! :rotfl::rotfl:

We even got them when DS11 was 5 bc he rolled right off the bed at OKW and it is really high off them bed.

I wouldn't bring my own- it is so easier to just request them and we never found them to be unacceptable in condition at all.
