Bed Clothes?

My husband thinks I'm nuts for calling sheets, blankets, etc "bed clothes." I grew up calling them this and didn't realize that not all people did.

Do you call them bed clothes? Have you even heard of them called bed clothes? Is my dh the one who is nuts?

Nope. I call what I wear to bed, bed clothes....well, I don't, but I've heard them called that. I just call the other stuff sheets.
I'm thinking your DH gets the first point.

Bed clothes are another name for pajamas or tshirt or nightgown, etc... collectively.

The other stuff is simply sheets, blanket, pillowcases, etc... I have never heard of them as bed clothes.

I always thought Bed clothes were what you wear to bed. I had to peek in the dictionary and darn they are calling it bedding. I stand/sit corrected.

You didn't grow up in the states, did you? When I think of bed clothes I think PJs. The other stuff I'd lump together and call bedding.

I have heard it used before but not for a long time and usually from my grandmother.

I never us it but I would know what you were talking about.

I've never heard the term either. My first thought when I read the title was "I wear a tank and undies to bed".

oh my gosh, it's funny you posted this. 2 days ago i said to my boyfriend that i "needed to change the bed clothes". he turns to me and goes, "bed clothes? who calls them that!?". that's what i've always called them too (i think i heard my grandma use that term all the time)! i thought it was funny.

I've heard it in the past. My grandmother would say "I changed the bed clothes".

My grandparents called them bed clothes. I honestly haven't heard them called that recently.
