Bed Bugs????

With all the talk about bed bugs--has anyone had any experiences with them @ any of the DVC resorts??? I am a bit of a germaphobe......just curious. We have an upcoming vacay in Jan @ VWL.

We were at BWV in August/Sept and at SSR in Oct...nary a bed bug in sight (and I looked!)...haven't read of any problems and didn't hear about any while we were there, either...

There's a risk of bedbugs ANYWHERE you go! Just be mindful to check the mattress when you arrive, and then sleep well when you don't find them or evidence of them.

We were there the week of Oct 18th and didn't see a one! I would have freaked if I had ! Enjoy your trip!

I doubt you'll find any at Disney, but if you do, be sure to notify someone at the front desk so they take care of the problem. They're pretty good at keeping stuff like that eradicated.

No bed bugs when we were there three weeks ago.

We stayed at Kidani Village a couple of weeks ago, and didn't notice any sign of bed bugs.

I'm also a germaphobe, so I was very concerned about that. Just in case, I did take a few precautions.

We didn't put our clothes in any of the drawers. We hung some of them, and the rest we kept in our suitcases, which we kept off the floors and furniture. I read somewhere that you should keep your suitcase in the bathtub, and since there was a giant bathtub in my bathroom that I wasn't going to use (it was separate from the shower), I kept it in there. I know...sounds a bit over the top, but I figured what the heck.

We put our dirty clothes in those giant ziploc bags.

The only bugs we saw during our stay in the first week of October were Love Bugs.

I am so creeped out now! I will be looking at my bed etc... when we get to the resort - if I see a spot - I am not letting my family in and will ask for another room. double yuck

There are multiple threads about bed bugs. I haven't seen anyone saying that they had bedbugs in their resort. Maybe others have, but I haven't.

On our last trip we intended to follow all of these recommended precautions, but it would have had a very negative impact on our vacation. Instead, we thoroughly checked around the bed and mattress and wiped all the drawers with disinfectant wipes. I think that it is important to be vigilant, but not obsessed.

Wow, I checked this out. Horror stories. I'll use this website every time I am prepared to book a room.

DF is convinced we had bed bugs at Kidani last week. I only had a few bites on my feet that showed up the day after we were at typhoon lagoon and DTD so I don't think they were in the room

Never-and we've been going (usually 2x a year) since 1992. Mostly to OKW.

We have been to Disney 50+ times and have never seen any bed bugs.
