Becoming Very Nervous

I booked the MYW package with my local AAA office. Before making the deposit, I decided to push it out a week. When I went into the office to pay the deposit, another agent changed the dates and printed out a receipt for me with the new dates. I was also told I would receive information from Disney within 2 weeks. It has been 3 weeks and nothing. I called my AAA office and asked about it and was told she would call Disney and then call me right back. No call back. I physically went down to the agency yesterday morning to make another payment and asked her about the info. I got a "oh, I totally forgot, but you should get it any day now." I called my local AAA both yesterday afternoon (no call back) and again today (waited 2 hours for a call back and never got one) about possibly adding one more night to the package. Since AAA books this through Disney, I called Disney just now to see if they could check the cost of adding the night. The CM found my ressie, but states that it is booked under the old dates and not the new ones. She looked through their entire system and they show nothing for the new dates. My original receipt and the one from yesterday both show the new dates. I'm now getting extremely concerned regarding this package and am wondering if I should cancel it with AAA and just book directly with Disney. I saved $200 using AAA, but if I'm not getting calls returned and Disney has the wrong information in their system, I'm wondering if it is worth keeping what I have. :confused3

HELP!!!!!

Yep, I'd be nervous too. I hate to say it, but if it were me, I'd make another trip to the AAA office and find out what is going on in person and I would let them know that you aren't happy about not receiving a call back and the problems you've been having!

I wouldn't cancel just yet, but I would go to AAA in person and make sure it's straightened out so AAA and Disney both have the same dates. If they tell you they can't do that while you are then, then tell you want to cancel so you book directly through Disney. -- I would call Disney first though to make sure the new dates you want are available -- I'm pretty sure you Disney will hold them for you for 24 hours before giving them a CC #.

But I have never booked with them due to being a DVC member. I can't say your story so far encourages me to do so.

I will probably buy tickets with them, though, since there is a little discount.

In any case, I wish you well, and give you a little BUMP...

to keep you near the top of the list. Pixie dust!

I'd go back to the AAA office and ask them to call WDWTC while you waited to confirm the new dates. I'm guessing from your post that the agent who changed the dates on your receipt never called and changed the dates with Disney.

Can I ask what info you were supposed to get from Disney? Just curious. This is the second time I've booked a package through AAA, but was never told either time to expect info from Disney. Am I missing something?

The AAA agent indicated that Disney would be sending some general information about the parks and the MYW program.

I will contact them first thing Monday morning to get all of this straightened out and relay the concerns that I have regarding the reservations. I'm just worried I guess. When I called Disney, she stated that there was nothing they could do, but that it was up to AAA to fix it in the system. The receipts that I have from AAA indicate the right dates. Can I request confirmation directly from Disney to make sure everyone is on the same page? What about resort requests that I made? Can I confirm these requests directly with Disney & if they are missing something, can they add it or does everything have to be done by AAA? If the agent is out, can I call the main 800 # for AAA travel and have them fix all this or does it have to be done by the local agency? Finally, she indicated that all the final paperwork and such would be mailed to her at the office, then I would have to come in and pick it up. Once I make the final payment, can I ask Disney just to send it to me directly or do I have to go back to the AAA office? When I asked her if she could mail everything to me, she said that that was not allowed and everything had to be picked up in person. Is this right?

I would be nervous too. First off, there is no reason you shouldn't have gotten the call backs. that alone would make me upset if it had happened as many times as it did with you. Secondly, I wouldn't leave AAA until they did contact Disney while you were there, and get everything straightened up. There should be no reason this can't be done. Not sure about your other questions, sorry.

Usually I book everything in pieces (room, air, passes, etc.), but the MYW package plan was such a great deal, I thought why not. If I do not get this resolved Monday morning, then I will cancel on the spot, ask for an immediate refund on my credit card, then call Disney and book this directly through them. When I've booked room only's through Disney, I have never had a single problem. If I have to cancel with AAA, I will contact the main office for this area and let them know what happened.

I worked at AAA as a travel agent previously. I can tell you for sure that this is unacceptable behavior (do I sound like Super Nanny? ). Call and ask to speak to the manager or superviser. It sounds like she did not do her job.

DEMAND that she give you a copy of the written confirmation from Disney. If she did her job correctly, there would be one in your file. Disney FAXES the confirmations to AAA, no excuse for waiting for the mail to come in.

I don't mean to sound bad about her, as she was very helpful and friendly when I first made the reservation and I do realize that there is only 2 agents and they are not always there together. Also, the day I made the deposit, my agent was not there and the other seem flustered when I was making the change in dates. I had to correct her several times for either typos or mistakes. She entered in an 8 day stay, but it's actually 9 days and when I mentioned it to her, she said that it was no problem as the dates are correct.

I want to keep my reservation with AAA, I just want to make sure everything is correct. Also, when I made the original deposit, she used one of those old fashion credit card things that imprints the card to a receipt. When I went in yesterday to make another deposit, the receipt was in my records. Should that be in a drawer or locked away somewhere? Makes me a little nervous.

Should a hard copy of my receipt be kept in a drawer or should that be locked up?

the original should be scanned to microfiche or some electronic doc format and then the original should be archived offsite.

I would not want my slips sitting around in some drawer.

Personally, I always book through Disney - To have different pieces of my vacation dependent on the actions of different parties makes me uncomfortable. I like going direct to source.

If it were me, and they continued to screw up, I would be getting a deep discount on my trip ... or forcing them into the position of comping me some portion if not all of the trip.

Universal screwed up on our reservations - by the time I was done arguing with them they were offering me good money off their normal rack rate. I was so infuriated I booked WDW instead ... but at least they offered

Thanks. I'm going to contact them first thing in the morning and hopefully be able to straighten everything out, as well as express my concerns regarding the mistakes and the lack of communication. I'm also going to request a copy of the confirmation from Disney to make sure everything is correct. Fingers crossed.

While I was online, I called Disney and talked to a great CM. Explained everything that was happening and he fixed everything in the system. He said I would still need to get the "Disney" confirmation from AAA, but that the correct dates are in the system. He also suggested (off the record, of course) speaking with the manager at the local AAA location or the manager of the travel portion of AAA regarding everything that is going on and see about some type of compensation or something for the problems that have happened. The CM was great and really helped put things at ease for me. He did confirm both payments are in the system and what the amounts were, so at least I know that's correct.

Thanks again everyone and I'll let you know what happens.

Tried my local office again this morning and no answer, so I called the main travel office regarding all this. Spoke with an agent there, who in turn forwarded me to the district manager of this area. After explaining everything to her, she was very, very apologetic and assured me that everything would be fixed today. She said she would find out exactly what happened & how it happened and get back to me today. I explained to her that the original agent was very nice and very knowledgable, but the 2nd agent made numerous mistakes and where AAA & Disney has 2 different sets of dates, plus to no call backs, have made me very nervous about continuing with the package. She promised to fix everything and call me back, so we'll see. I do appreciate the fact that she acknowledged the dropping of the ball and the no call backs.

Im glad you had a great CM. And I hope that the AAA lady is able to get some answers. Sounds like you are gonna end up having a great trip.
