Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Beth: Would you come over to my house and do the sue clean for me? Better yet, have Sue come to my house and let her clean it for me. :goodvibes I thought yesterday's wagon tip was profound...so many people are spectators and not participants in life. I'm so glad we're all working on participating and have each other to cheer for and we all to cheer each other on. Yay for conquering the late-night cravings!

Maria: It sounds like you're off to a good start, and I think those regular, instance-by-instance moments of control DO make a difference. I meant to mention this to you, but do you know that Johanna, our Ohana teammate, is getting on the WW wagon? Oh, and re your statement to Wendy: 1) I don't think where you're at is child's play for most WISHers, not at all; and 2) remember you're not a "porch sitter"!

Dave: You know we love our panda hugs, right? But we totally understand the priorities, and training comes first. I want to hear (and hopefully see) you've taken it to a new level with your training AND with your events. And given your progress I think that's definitely happening. I loved the pics of your town, especially of the Capitol building. Is it still a working theater?

Tracey: Almost done, huh? I'm living single in a one-bedroom. Me, two cats, and lots of boxes. Plenty of room for an organizer. Hint, hint. ;) Thanks for the kind and optimistic description of me moving bikes as a duathlon; if it had been event, not only would I have been DLF, I would have been the person who waved the medic van ahead of me. Oh, and boo hiss for you being MIA while on vacation. But you'll have to tell me all about Myrtle Beach; it's an extended family vacation every other year, and I hear good things about it. (Never been, but we're so much closer now that it might be feasible--of course, it's on DOOD's side of the family....)

Lisa: Thanks for the goal idea and congrats on your setting high standards for yourself & already achieving success! I'm really making an effort with the sleep, which is affecting my online time. But I'm sure it'll be good for me. Ouch about your broken heel courtesy of the ex-heel. (Your phrase "charming sot" made me giggle, though. Love the language.) About agave. How does its flavor compare with honey, if you can describe it? I use honey as my sweetener now, and like it, but was thinking of experimenting.

Yay for remaining snark-free despite not getting your regular amount of XT in. That must have been a good field trip! (I used to love them, but I've never gone as a responsible adult.) It sounds like your weekend is jam-packed--how do you work out the scheduling?

Cindy: Rubber stamping?? That's the one thing I can say I like to do and aren't completely uncoordinated at! I don't rubber stamp a lot, or make my own, but DOOD and I do make our holiday cards. It's relaxing. Congratulations on your 4 days and counting, plus the tempo run. And in a downpour. Yep, you claim the insider, "I'm a runner" cred. I hope today went well, as being tired would really undermine me (hence my goal this month).

Amykab: WTG with the hydration. Keep posting on that one, as it's something I need to watch constantly and love it when other people keep it at the forefront of my mind. Keep me posted on C25K, too, as I'm using a variant of that to work on speed. (I'm repeating W3, too, as moving interrupted my plans.) Aw, your DD's language acquisition skills sound so cute. I'm glad she's feeling better and that she considers the family dog a member of the family!!

Stacie: When the doctor said you wouldn't have a long running career, he meant distance? (Versus you won't be able to run over a period of years?) It sounds like there's a lot of positive actions coming out of the appointment. I'm not sure how I would feel about the brace, maybe like a cyborg (which would be so COOL :cool1:). And the PT should give you some good strategies. Enjoy your Jimmy Buffet concert and have a margarita in my honor! (You pay, though.)

As for me: As with everyone else, it's "Hot in Herre." Today I moved the bikes, ala the running/biking plan. Hooboy. I won't go into details, except to say I had to do it during the day, when it was already hot, so as to not disturb my soon-to-be former landlady. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I had plenty of water, but my fingers still did that annoying swelling thing they did during the Goofy. Anyway, the bikes are moved and I counted that as today's WO. I wasn't impressed with my time, but I was impressed that I was able to pick up DOOD's bike and carry it up and down the stairs to my new building. (I couldn't with mine--turns out his bike is considerably lighter than mine.)

As for the wagon, I'm still on it--although I had a bagel and PB from Einstein's today in between the two bike transfers. Tomorrow I'll do better because it's the last day at the old apartment and I'll be fully settling in here. The real unpacking commences, grocery shopping and regular routines resumes, and I'll hook up the DVD player for my exercise WOs. :woohoo: That is, unless I decide to hang out at my very air-conditioned gym (vs. the non-air conditioned apartment). Oh, and I got my sleep in last night, but I'm not sure it was great quality. Heat, you know? But I'm making the effort. That counts, right?

P.S. I also need to update the Lean Meaner index, with the tips and Vic's PB recipe, and will get to that this weekend.

I am Back!!!!! :thumbsup2

Debra: I am glad that the end is near! Good job on the bike transfer.....that sure is a workout! Cross training all the way!

Maria: Okay, for dinner I made b-b-que chicken legs using dry b-b-que rub, salt, Spenda brown sugar, and olive oil. Marinaded for 1/2 day, and then a low oven for two hours......they are good!!:thumbsup2 With it was sauted squash and brussel sprouts. They have the individual steam fresh bags of the brussel sprouts which are excellent!

Stacie: Yeah for feeling better. I am glad that you got a chance to express how you were feeling and I hope the wagon mates helped you out. I hope the knees are okay.

Lisa: I hope you had a good time with the field trip! Good excuse to be MIA the other morning!

Hope everyone is doing okay!

Wagon tip of the day: The local farmers markets are a great way in getting our veggies at a high quality for a lesser cost. Last week I got a big o' head of Romain lettuce for $.99 ((((which is much better than $1.99 per pound at the grocery store)))))). The squash I had tonight was excellent, and I got it at a very cheap price. The new Ziploc steamer bags are a very easy and delicious way to cook your veggies to maintain the vitamens! I LOVE the steamer bags!!!!!

Beth

Good morning Lean Meaners. I knew you all were out there. You were just waiting until I left...;)

Dave: Your town is cute as a button. Mine has no buildings over 2 stories and we only have 1 traffic light. Blink on our Main Street and you missed it completely!! We actually still have a ban on liquor sales unless you are a convenience store. No bars allowed in our town. Funny...

Stacie: I am glad you got good? news on your knee. The brace will feel strange at first but you will be using it without noticing soon enough. I am glad that you got it checked out! :goodvibes I am also glad that you are feeling better on the inside too. I know this group is a source of strength for me and I hope everyone else feels the love too.

Beth: Great wagon tip!! I do try to buy local and our Farmer's Market just started back up. Unfortunately, I cannot get there this weekend but I do enjoy the fresh stuff as it always tastes so much better. My garden is growing like crazy. Anyone like to weed?? I do also buy local honey and we have lots of apple and strawberry places. Blueberries, of course, and potatoes too!! Sorry about the LTO but that chicken sounds yummy!!

Cindy: You ran in the rain..girl..did you not read my soaking wet rain running off my nose and chin post? You crazy thing...:crazy2: :umbrella: Good for you though persevering under those conditions. I actually don't mind running in the rain or snow as long as it is not a downpour or a blizzard. There is something peaceful and serene about it. And, at least you met other runners to reinforce you, all I met were cars and people who kept stopping and offering me a ride. :moped:

Amykab: 4 teeth! :faint: You are one strong mommy!!!

Debra: WTG with the bike and run and in the heat too. You totally deserved the PB and J!! I noticed a HUGE difference going from the cro-moly frame of my old bike to the aluminum of my new. One hand versus 2 grown men and a boy to get it into DH pickup (ton truck so it is crazy high). I also notice a difference going up hills and maneuvering the lighter bike. My hands swell in the heat too, running or not, my feet too. I try to really super-hydrate during those times but it has not seemed to help much. Yay on sleep, good or not, at least you sleep. Sometimes when DH is out plowing all night, I have a terrible time getting to and staying asleep. Every little noise wakes me up. Keep up the good work.

Me, well I have developed a cold  yucky, crappy cold. My mom has suddenly figured out after 5 years of my dad being gone that she is not an "alone" person and that her life sucks. Which, BTW, is somehow my fault and I have to fix the situation pronto. She is so depressed that she puts people off at this point just with the look on her face. All she can talk about is dad and the things they did and all that so people get really tired of her really quick. She is the proverbial "porch sitter" watching the world go by and not wanting to jump in feet first. I have been using the tough love approach and that is not working. I don't know where to go from here with her. All I know is I have 2 children and I don't need another anytime soon. Phew, there, boy do I feel better...:chat: Thank you all for being here. There are some great souls on the main thread but the sweetest people are right here, on the wagon with me!!

I have 5 on for today, XT tomorrow and 7-8 on Sunday which will be completely rearranged due to 1) temps on Sunday into the 90s; 2) scheduling of the softball games; and 3) management of DS6 until DH gets done estimating jobs and joins us at the games. Debra, I am not sure how the scheduling is going to go but I am thinking I will get my 7 in tomorrow and maybe XT on Sunday in the morning before we head to the tourney. I can bike miles faster than I can run (oh to be faster).

Have a great day and a great weekend Lean Meaners. Those who I do not catch today, I will be back on Monday bright and early!!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning, Lean Meaners!

Yesterday was a bust. Rainy, yucky, and my back was killing me. I have higher hopes for today, although it's still a rainpalooza. I have not strayed from my eating between work and dinner, so that's good. I'm hoping to get my 4 miles in today. My next chance will be Monday, so I'm going to have to carve out an exercise window today.

DH made me a ham and cheese omelet for breakfast. I was very satisfied with that, of course, I don't think I've met a cheese I don't like...:rotfl:

Lisa -- I'm sending pixiedust: for a speedy recovery. The widowed parent is such a tough issue. Either they wait a long time, or like my dad they've got a new sweetie within 6 months. Either way it's not easy on the kids. I'm also sending patience with the pixie dust, and hopefully someone else will have real wisdom to offer.

Beth -- Your dinner sounds so good! Please keep your meals coming! It is a barbeque type of weekend for us, so I'm going to try a dry rub. Our dessert when it's super hot is usually watermelon, so nothing artificial there! :thumbsup2

Debra -- Thanks for the encouragement. I could do so much more than I do -- sometimes I get down because I'm not making a better effort. But, as you point out, I am not sitting on the porch, I may be walking by slowly, but I am in motion! :cool1: I'll have to ask Johanna for her WW tips, I can certainly always use more!

Cindy -- I've found I like the ice breakers flavored mints (the iced teas are particularly yummy), which are sugar free. I haven't really been interested in chewing gum since my braces came off when I was a teenager. I'll try, and I just end up spitting it out. One of those unintended side effects! :confused3

Stacie -- Have a blast at the Jimmy Buffet concert! I am not a real parrothead, but I make it a point to visit Margaritaville whenever I'm near one. So far we've been to Orlando, Jamaica and Vegas. I wish they'd build one further north, we need it more! :thumbsup2

Dave -- BG looks like a great small town. I'm more familiar with eastern KY -- my relatives get cable from Paducah, and we ventured there when I was a kid. Your walk sounds wonderful, just right for a summer day! :thumbsup2

Amykab -- Enjoy your precious DD, it goes so quickly! I know the teething seems to never end, but they are young for such a short time! :lovestruc Great job with the water!

Tracey -- I'm going to make always counting points my next goal. I know I need to do it, I can't explain why I don't :confused3 :rolleyes1

Lean Mean Brigade -- Everybody have a fantastic weekend! It's going to be 90 4 days in a row for us, which is really, really hot for New England!

Maria

Good morning guys and pretty princesses.

It was another wonderfull morning here, 70 degrees warm sun and a breeze to make the humidity feel more comfortable. I started out to do a 2 mile warm up walk before my stretching and calistetics but the love of the motion and the morning took over and I headed to the hills for a 4 miler. I did keep the pace comfortable, 12:53 mpm pace. It was as perfect as a walk could be except for a few cars I had to hand motion over so they wouldn't run over me on the little shoulder of the road I was on.

I was feeling strong and fluid this morning, I love being on those hills and feeling the strong breeze pushing against me, makes the walk feel more of an adventure. I saw a bunny off in a field beside the road and another place I saw a wild turkey where there is farm land along the road.

Lisa, so sorry to hear you have a summer cold starting. I use hadn sanitizer after each patient at work and that has, knock on wood, kept me cold free for a couple of years. The last time I caught a cold was just before the 2006 Disney Marathon, the week before we had run out of sanitizer at work.

Debra, it's cool to live in a new place, I hope this one turns out to be a wonderfull experience.

Maria, how is everything?

Beth, I love your Wagon tips. I have been thinking we need a regular post just for thought, tips excetra that someone posts a positive thought, or some feel good vibe every morning.

Stacie, hi sweet princess.

Vic, is it time to go to Disney yet?

As y'all know my pretty princess went back to work last night, it went fine except she was major tired and her tootsies were swelled a bit.

Everyone have an awesome day.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Good afternoon, Meaners! I am taking a little break from my 'sue clean'...... I have to say that I hate cleaning. I had to deep clean my living rug and couch, and my arms are shaking from fatigue. Who said that house cleaning isn't a x-training sport???? :confused3 I would like to beg to differ......

I just can't believe how dirty my house is......how does that happen anyway? We are hardly ever home........ :furious:

I only had a South Beach bar for breakfast.....I had to get started on the clean right away, since I have only today (school hours) to get it done. The lawn needs mowed too.....but that will have to wait for tomorrow (in the heat! :furious: )

I have to say I am really happy with my week. My eating stayed on target, with no big temptation. I would like to have logged more miles, but LTO! I made a crock pot spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight, so that will be a time saver for me.

Dave: I am glad you like the wagon tips......some times I think they are a little obvious, or silly, but I am glad that you enjoy them. I love when the time outside brings joy instead of misery! I glad you had one of those days.

Lisa: Has the heat reached you??? I was really hot yesterday, hence the gym time. Your garden sounds marvelous.....wish I lived closer, I would help weed for sure!

Maria: Sounds like things are going well for you. I am glad! :)

Stacie: The brace would drive me nuts, but we have to do what we have to do to stay 'off the porch!'

Bill: Havent' heard from you in awhile......still with us????:confused3

Big Vic: Have you hired anyone yet? I know what a job that can be..... don't envy you!

Connie, Tracy, Amy, Jeanne, Wendy Miss you! :worried: Hope you are doing well!

Beth

Happy Friday Everyone! :)

Hope everyone is having a good day! Hydration went well again yesterday and is going well today. I had planned to C25K tonight, but my friend has offered to watch DD tonight, so DH and I are going to go out for a movie or drinks! :cool1: I'll have time in the morning to continue on with C25K.

I went to get some new jeans last night and was finally able to buy my pre-pg size again!! (although right before I got pg that size was getting tight and now it feels perfect!) and they were on clearance so even better! :woohoo:

I should have time later to catch up on everyone's posts! I am so impressed with everyone who takes the time to post about each person individually!

Have a good evening!

I can't speak to everyone tonight (because I only have a few minutes while my daughter eats supper, then she'll want iTunes back!) but I did want to pop in and say Hi.

Amy, congrats on the pre-preg size -- that is a milestone! :yay:

Lisa, I have to think right now I am pretty lucky. My mom was pretty depressed for a few weeks after my Dad died last November, but now she is out working in the yard, and even wanted to be my 9-yr-old son's summer sitter this summer. (I hope her health holds out -- I think it's better for her to be active, but she is in her late 70s and I worry about her trying to do too much.) My MIL is in a retirement community and seems to enjoy all the goings-on there. When my Dad was ill, then my Mom was ill, I felt completely overwhelmed. Being sandwiched between parent-care and kid-care is tough.

As for me, local 5K on tap in the heat tomorrow -- and the race starts at 8:30AM. Whew! I like those 6AM starts!

The good news is that I now have a streak going -- 3 days in a row of at least 2 miles a day, which is great for me right now. I have not been able to be consistent in my exercise this year. If I can get back in the habit, adding mileage should come naturally. With my next blood test scheduled for June 20th, staying on track foodwise is pretty easy. Just too many bad consequences if I blow the results. It's a shame I can't get it through my head that there are ALWAYS bad consequences, whether there is a doctor looking over my shoulder or not.

Gotta go.

Wendy, yep if we could just have that "Dr looking over our shoulder" feeling all the time we might be more dilligent in our habits.

Erica is doing the Lacto Ovo Veggie thing and I'm mostly doing that with a lot of fish. I think if Erica can stay motivated, that we will see a new Erica in Oct. She has been doing great so far, she should be seeing some weight loss here real soon.

The hard thing for me right now is to make myself take a rest day. I know I need to but it's hard to stop when you are on a roll. I think tomorrow I'll just have a stretching and pilaties workout with no walking.

Have a wonderfull evening y'all.

Leaner Walking Panda:hippie:

Good morning Lean Meaners!

Hoping your Saturday morning is going well.

Can’t remember which day I posted, but it was BW exercises on Mon, Wed, and Friday, with boxing on Mon and Friday. 3 miles on Tues and Thurs. Feeling pretty good.

WWDave – Good luck with the diet. Take a day off!! I’m ready to go to Disney. Just say the word and I’m there.

Wendy – Good luck with your 5K.

FLAmy – Hope you had a great Friday night.

Beth – WTG with the eating. I’m still interviewing applicants. The last few couldn’t pass the background check.

Maria – Hope you were able to get your run in. WTG with the eating.

Lisa – Sorry about the cold. Good luck with mom.

Debra – It’s “Africa Hot” here. Glad you’re finally going to get settled into your new digs.

Stacie – Sorry to hear about the washer. Have fun with Jimmy!

Cindy – WTG with the running and eating!

Tracey – W’sup?

Mike – Where you at?

:)

Good morning Vic, looks like you and I are the only ones awake this early on a saturday morning.

Yep, I'm ready for a Disney adventure myself, good food, tons of fun, breathtakingly beautiful WISH princesses everywhere to hug and even a night race, life is good.

I'm off to the gym for some pool fun. I need to take a rest day so I figured a half hour of pool sprints should do it. Then tomorrow I'll be mowing the yard with the push mower and that will be my exercising for the weekend. Then monday I'll be back strong and rested ready to think PR on a training route.

Good morning pretty princesses.

Walk/run strong y'all.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Hey! Lean Meaners!!!

I was up to my elbows in work the last two days. I work from home but occasionally someone throws a monkey wrench into my happenings! This time it is the people who write the checks. I spent yesterday trying to send them invoices in the manner they wished to recieve them. My experience lately is that IT guys are so arrogant they see no reason to test their new systems and let everyone else work the bugs out for them.

Lisa Of course it's your fault that your mother is a mess! ::yes:: ? If she likes to travel, put her on one of those senior sight seeing bus trips to someplace she wants to go! She might make friends and she might have a good time and even if she doesn't, at least you aren't responsible for a few days! :thumbsup2 Then get her a volunteer job down at the hospital. And have someone pick her up every week for the Sr Citizen day at the local community center. And then, get her a date or two and send her dancing. Okay maybe none of this is realistic for your mom, but perhaps it will get the idea juices flowing. If she proves resistant to making a life, threaten her with a nursing home! Just joking.

Debra Congratulations on the move!

Beth Thanks for all the tips!

Stacie, Congratulations on the lost pounds! And I am relieved you have your knee checked out. A brace is way better than the porch, for sure! :thumbsup2

I am sorry I have missed most of you! And I have missed you all! Not posting is not good for me. It really helps me to stay focused. Hopefully, the mommy duties will end with a happy DD before too long.

I have a race next weekend. Fortunately, it is just a 10K; unfortunately, it is in the mile high city, and that's double my altitude. I have done it before, though so it should be fun time. It's really not so much a race as it is a fundraiser for the town of Greenwood a suburb of Denver and just lots of fun. Because, frankly, the exercise has suffered.

See y'all again, real soon!

Hi Connie, we miss your wit and charming personality, stop by and say hey when you can come up for air again.

I did a half hour of pool sprints and then a half hour of stretching and calistetics in the water. This workout always makes me feel good. The pool running is a good stretch since you use high knee lifts and then reaching for the bottom of the pool.

Happy Weekend y'all.

Walking Panda

:magnify: Is this thing working? Where is everybody???
:confused3

Well, the ligt is at the end of the tunnel! I am about to come up for air! I take my DD home on Wednesday. I will have the invoices dealt with by Friday, taxes are due next week, I will have a race on Saturday.......That doesn't sound all that normal, does it???

An easy couple of miles today.

Eating is within range.

Bodybugg feels like it is a part of me. I am about to reach the 90 day mark with the bugg. I think that it has been really useful. I will purchase the continued subscription for the program. I have managed to lose more than 3 inches and few pounds. But that's the way I lose weight anyway, I lose inches and then over a 2 week period, I suddenly drop 10 lbs. Then I lose a bunch of inches, etc.

Good afternoon Leaner Meaners!

Hoping everyone’s Sunday afternoon is going well.

No training today. However, I got out this morning around 0800 (90 deg) and did aerobic mowing. Front and back yards without stopping.

Connie – Glad to hear you’re doing well. Good luck with the race next week.

WWDave – WTG with the training!

Everyone - Keep up the great work!!

:)

Hey Y'all!

Just checking in really quickly. I hope to do a more "personalized" post tomorrow!

Jimmy Buffet concert was fun! A great time was had by all (in the sweltering, 100 degree heat!)

I just wanted to share really quickly...Today I registerd for the Susan G Komen, Race for the Cure 5K for next Saturday. I had put in $0 for donations to be raised. I hate asking people for money. Since there were no expectations, I decided to send the standard e-mail text they provide to a few folks. One of them went to my old boss who is now working in India. I sent this around 5:30 pm. I just checked a few minutes ago and he had contributed $100!!! I could not believe it! I was so excited! Anyway... I was just really surprised, but very excited I was able to raise a little for this cause.

Tomorrow morning I plan to C25K and then also on Wed and Fri in prep for the 5K on Saturday.

Ok...all for now. I'll check in tomorrow! Good night!
Stacie

Good morning Lean Meaners. I hope it was not as hot where you are as it was where I am. 90s in Maine is just a rareity and boy does my poor red skin show it. I was a good girl and used my sunscreen religiously and wore my sunglasses but I burned right through the sunscreen even with multiple applications. I do, however, have the coon eyes to show that I wore my sunglasses the entire time!!!! ::yes::

DD13 team lost in the semi-finals to a team that they lost to in the second round of play. They were fighting back from the losers bracket and almost made it. Both times, they did themselves in against this team. Hot potato is not part of softball just in case anyone was wondering. DD played well, had some great hits and can run like the wind and had great steals. Lots of great softball played. I got home earlier on Sunday than anticipated and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening weeding my garden, replanting, and taking care of my rock work. Oh, and setting my fountain back up and making it so the dogs do not use it for their personal water bowl!!!

Stacie: Yay for the Buffet concert, I wish he would come here!! Yay for the contribution and :wizard: for the 5K. You will do great. How is the knee feeling with the brace?

Connie: You have done so well with the Bodybugg. It must make you a little more aware of input and output. Maybe it is something I should consider. Congrats on the inches and pounds lost!!

Vic: I don't know how you deal with the heat. Apparently us northern girls are not built for such hot humid days. I think I drank a gallon of water. DD13 even submitted to GU.

Dave: Ah, pool running. It sounds so good right now with the high temps, except that the pool I have locally has no AC and there are huge windows for sunlight which causes it to be up over 90 there too.

Debra: Yay for the end of the moving process. Now you just have to find a place for everything. That is where I start slowing down. I put something away, then move it, then move it, then move it. You would think I would be tired of moving!!! No wonder I dislike moving so much....

Wendy: Great to have you back with us. My mom has been riding an emotional rollercoaster since she lost my dad. Up with company, deep lows when they leave. She cannot make a decision on her own and she also has a hard time with everyday chores. I had to teach her how to pump her own gas!! I know I need to stand my ground and get her out on her own but in the meantime, I get dumped on pretty hard. Connie, thanks for the suggestions, I have tried them all in the past and there are a pile of excuses that come as to why she cannot do anything. She is volunteering at the hospital but is still going through her intake (PPD, MMR, etcetera) and starts shadowing this week. Everyone keep fingers crossed that she finds a friend there. I know I am.

Amykab: Huge congrats on the pre-pg jeans!!! :woohoo: I was so excited to hit that marker. I am now at pre-pg for my first child (I mighta gained a little in the 7 years between :rolleyes1 ) and :thumbsup2 for us continuing the downward weight slide. Wheeeeeeee!!!

Beth: :listen: Anxiously awaiting the wagon tip for today. They may seem obvious but continuous positive reinforcement is how we all learn, right!!! I like the little reminders to do the right thing!!

AmyBeth: Are you in pilates prison??? Whare is ya????? :magnify:

Everyone else: A big :yay: and hi to you all.

I gave you the 411 on my big exciting weekend already. I took 2 full days off and hammy and heel are feeling good. I am thinking today is a run/bike day but it is 90 again and we will have to see how my lungs feel. I am still fighting this cold yuck sore throat crappy thing which, coupled with the high pollen counts and my allergies right now, is not going away quickly. Fortunately, it is not my breathing and not really in my head just lots of runny goo (which is why I don't like the consistency of GU). Now that I have grossed everyone out....have a great day and keep on the road to fitness Lean Meaners!!!!!!

Good Morning All!!!

I am working from home today. This is the first time EVER! I have a Doc appt in my hometown so my boss is permitting me to work from home today. I know this won't happen too often, but I think it will definately be a nice change!

Lisa...Sunburn! Ouch! I know how bad that can hurt! It happens to me every year--even with the proper precautions. It sounds like you got lots done in the yard! Too bad about your DD's softball team. :wizard: for your mom and your allergies!!!

Connie...Yay for inches lost!!! I should have taken measurements when I started losing weight, but I didn't. Sounds like you're really liking your body bugg. It sounds like a neat little device.

Dave...Yay for pool workouts. I think I may stop by gym and pickup a new class schedule. It's time for me to get back to the gym now. They have a few water classes I enjoy too. I like the water a lot! Oh, and cute little town.

Deb...Hey girl! Is your move all complete? How far are you to your new place from your old place? I'm so impressed w/ the run/bike/run/bike you had to do move your bikes! Oh, and my Ortho meant Running YEARS. I guess I shouldn't expect to be running in my 50/60s.

Amykab...How awesome about your new jeans!!! Non-scale victory! Yay!!! Congrats!

Wendy...Did I read you had a great 5K this weekend??? Any sorry to hear about your son's broken bones. I know they are no fun.

Vic...Kitchen remodel? Sounds like fun to me! I hope we'll get to see before/after pics!

MIke...Have I told you lately how impressed I am with your workouts and your discpline to get up so early to get them in?

Tracey...I never got much organizing done, but since I am working from home today, I hope to at least work on my office/desk a bit!

OK...I'm off to Doc now.
Stacie

Good morning Meaners......I have been MIA.......I spent three days doing the 'Sue clean' and yard work. I am exhausted! :worried: I am glad to be back to my paid work! ::yes::

Lisa: I am burnt to a crisp :scared1: I left the house yesterday at 11:00 and didn't get home until 8:30 pm. I didn't put sun screen on because I am an idiot and not into my summer routine yet. I was outside close to 3 hours before the first application of sunscreen. Already burnt by then........:( The good news is that my youngest ds came in 3rd at the Phillies home run derby in our local park. He got a plaque and will be going on to the regionals some time in July. He then had a baseball game (2 1/2 hours) and then a baseball pizza party afterwards. What a LONG day. Congrats to dd, even though they didn't win. Playing a tough team, and hanging in there with the good plays still counts!!!!

Stacie: Good luck at the doc appointment, and YEAH for working from home!

Big Vic: I didn't get to run all weekend, but I made up for it with 3 hours of yard work! :worried:

Connie: Inches lost is great!!! Celebrate those milestones!!!

WWDave: How was your weekend? Walking today???

Wagon Tip of the Day: SUNSCREEN! A little late reminder for myself......healthy eating is great, but when we don't take care of ourselves with sunscreen protection, things go badly! We are all outdoor athletes, and must take the time in protecting ourselves from the sun. Use the waterproof/sweat-proof sunscreen and keep our skin healthy too!!!!!

Beth

I'm just gonna add a little to Beth's wagon tip for the day (being the other crispy critter in the bunch): Make sure that your sunscreen is UVA/UVB and/or broad spectrum coverage. And apply on those overcast/cloudy days too. You can burn even when there is no sun. Reapply often!!!

Has anyone else noticed this?? When I was a kid, your burn time was 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. but now the heat is on until at least 4 p.m. around here. I find that my burn time is about noon to 4 p.m. now. :furious: Maybe it is just the northern sun, I suppose I am closer to that hole in the ozone over the North Pole.....:scared1:
