Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

45 minute swim.

1:15 spin class.

1:00 road bike.

Recovery shake...I wish the training plan called for "recovery naps"!

Good luck to everyone and have a beautiful weekend!!!

Mike

Good morning Mike, where are the Princesses? Must be a mass princess sleep in weekend.

I just had an easy day since the gym doesn't open till 7 and my princess gets home from work about 8.

1 mile on tready to warm up then stretching and cals for a total of one hour. When I workout it's go go go, no socializing. There are a lot of people at the club who spend way more time talking than business.

I end most workouts with a nap with Erica. We have coffee while I ice the naughty achillies and then I nap with her for an hour.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I wasn't sleeping in! I was on the TM for 5.366 miles! Of course, I kind of felt that was called for after my overindulgent Friday. I really have to stop having those! ::yes::

Dave and Mike -- Glad to see you are up and about today. No naps for me, either. It's ds's last in-season game of Whiffleball (next weekend we have playoffs), and we promised to take him to see Horton Hears a Who. I'm surprised he wants to, but the rest of the 4th grade has already been...:confused3

Anyway, since I was less than thoughtful with my eating yesterday, I'm on a short leash for the movie theater! :scared1:

Everyone have a great weekend, and eat better than I have! :rotfl2:

Speak for yourself, Assuming Panda.......I was out walking a half marathon! It was a very fast event. They never posted the pacing requirements and alot of people took it for granted that it would be 3:30 to finish. Not so..... I think I finished around a 3:06 or 3:07 and John was less than 5 minutes behind me. I saw him come down the final stretch with a small handful of other people and the pace car right behind them. When I saw him on the out and back between 8and 10 miles, there were at least a dozen people behind him. So they were either swept or dropped out during the last few miles. It was not my best time, but I was very pleased as my training has really slacked off the last month or so. I wanted to break 3:10 to put me in good shape for the Minnie and I did that with minutes to spare. I'm not sure of John's time, but I know it was his personal best because he has never broken 3:15 before and I'm sure he was several minutes under that today. I'm so proud of him! It was not an easy event for me, but I learned that if you slack off, you pay the price. At around mile 11, my legs were cramping up pretty bad and even a small uphill was tough. Thankfully most of the steeper climbs were during the earlier part of the race. They also ran out of medals early on. My son, Jason, finished around a 2:25 with his GF (who was doing her first running event ever today) and there were no medals for them either. We were supposed to have about a dozen bands on the course and we had 3. Honestly, there was so much fear about severe weather cancelling the event, I think they only ordered the bare minimum and were caught offguard when the storms held off. Wendy and Renee had also signed up for this race, but I didn't see either. It's possible I didn't see Renee because she is a runner, but Wendy would have been hard to miss with all her bright gear! In fact they were so sure the race was going to be called, they wouldn't even give us our chip last night because they were afraid of losing alot of them because people wouldn't show up.
That's it for now, I just went online to see if the results are up, but they're not. I'm showered and iced, and now.....I'm going to enjoy a little nap!

Good afternoon folks! I wasn't sleeping in.......got up, made breakfast for the family, and went off to the trail for a run with my sister. We ended up doing 6 miles at 10:30 pace. Not bad!:cool1: :cool1:

I was pretty happy with my run. I was able to keep up, and talk pretty decently too! Usually I can't say much, but today I could keep up my end of conversation. I felt good about that.

Eating wasn't perfect today, but I haven't eaten a decent breakfast or lunch. We are going out for dinner tonight, and I will try to keep it decent.

Jeanne: Good job on your race.....I can't believe that they were not very prepared for it. The medals should have been purchased way before the weather would be an issue. How many registered? They should have been ready for that. No medal.......very bad!

WWDave: It's nice that you can nap with Erica........probably helps her to go to sleep.

Everyone else, have a good weekend!

Beth:cool1:

Jeanne congratulations to you and John for a fine race time. You guys are really coming along. Did Nancy go to?

Beth, 10:30 pace cool!!!

Maria, I hope you enjoyed the movie, I have to have popcorn, I don't like the greasy butter though.

Have a super evening evreryone.

40 sunny degrees this morning in Chicago!

30 minute swim, 65 minute run, 6.7 miles.

43 hours off coming up, and beautiful weather in the forecast :yay:

Hope everyone has a safe, healthy rest of the weekend!!!

Mike

Good afternoon Lean Meaners!

Hoping everyone is have a great Sunday.

It’s been a wet and rainy weekend here in NW Florida.

Got in 3 miles on the TM this morning. Nothing significant to report.

Everyone – Keep up the great work! You can do it! :thumbsup2

I got this from John Force Racing. John Force drives the Castrol GTX funny car in the National Hot Rod Association.

“Never give up. Never back down. Never lose faith.”

Now get out there and "Get'r Done!" :)

Cool quote Big Vic!:thumbsup2

The weekend is over.....:headache: It goes to quick!

Got a 5 miler in today......10:18 per/mile!!!!! How exciting! I like that I can do it.....but I won't be able to keep the pace for a whole 1/2 marathon. I am spent! :scared1:

Eating was so, so.....but didn't eat consistent meals....that is always bad for me.

Tomorrow is a new day!

Beth

Good job this weekend everyone! I posted up my great weekend on the weekly thread. (I did my 8 miles with a 14:35 pace, so I know I've got it in me to do Minnie.) Tomorrow is weigh-in Monday and after having cake today I'm not thinking it will be a change week for me. It was a bit of a struggle. I've been toying with a pound when I checked but it's been up and down daily. Eating for me has been going ok, but now that I'm back at work I don't know how it will all fare.

Jeanne, I missed your report on the race report thread for the weekend. Your name was listed there though. Good job on getting it done and DH too!

Great job Lily!!!

Linda and I will miss you at Minnie this year. Have a cold one for us:)

Are you coming out for DL???

:woohoo: Woohoo! I'll check in with a longer post later, but for now I'm celebrating. I "held on" to a 5 lb. loss for three days in a row (that's how I determine if I really "own" it), and I've earned a new pair of Crocs! I need my incentives, don't you know!:rotfl:

Now I just have to narrow it down to one pair...hopefully the next ten lbs. will fly off, because there are three that I really want! ;)

Maria

WORFIE!!!

I can't seem to "hang on" to the losses...I like your description of it!

I fluctuate over 2 days from 211 to 217...with no correlation that I can figure out.

Oh well, 217 is down nicely from my high of 250, so I guess I should concentrate on how the clothes and knees feel, rather than the number on the scale...

Have a great day lean meaners!

Mike

Good morning Lean Meaners. You have no idea how much I have missed you!! I was not sleeping in, I was running a half marathon!! Please see my report thread but leave it at, I shaved 13 minutes off my WDW time in January (thats a whole minute per mile!!) and through adversity, I still ended up with a great time. Now....

DH HAS AGREED TO LET ME RUN TOT IN OCTOBER!!! I am soooooooooo excited. My SIL and BIL will be down there with their family and they were very interested in running but had no one to watch the kids....enter DH who volunteered to go down and watch ours and theirs while we ran!!!! I think he just enjoyed meeting Kristi, Chad and Angie more than anything else and wants to meet the Great Panda and pals. I cannot hold my excitement in.

I am so far behind on this thread but I want to give congrats to Maria for the weight loss and say hi to Robert, Dave, Bill, Vic (Yay I get to see you all again!!!) and a big wave to everyone else. I gained back a half pound, I think it is all water as I over hydrated myself (bad toadie). Either that or it was the very rank Smutty Nose IPA that was free after the race. There was a reason they were giving it away!!

Good morning guys and pretty princesses.

Yay Lisa, so glad you can come to ToT.

Maria, congratulations on the lbs, like Mike I love your discription of making it your own.

Hi everyone:flower3:

There will be a lot to celabrate at the ToT trip. I can't wait:yay:

Remember after the race come down to the BWV quiet pool and have a night cap with us. Robert is not doing the race so he and Linda will already be there. For his sake come and drink a beer or a vodka cooler so he doesn't drink it all.

Bill, Vic, Mike, looks like the princesses are coming on strong this month, we need to keep up.

Good Morning Everyone!

Lily - WTG!!

Maria - congrats on "owning" the loss!

Lisa - YAY for ToT! So looking forward to meeting those that aren't making it to Minnie.

Mike - our weather was perfect this weekend! Finally.

Was a be-uuuuu-ti-ful weekend here so spent as much time as possible outside. Got in a 5.6 mile walk yesterday with an average 16 min pace. Actually managed two 15 min miles in the middle. Felt good at the end too and jogged the last bit into the parking lot. Was going to do a victory run around the lot but figured others there might wonder what the heck this idiot was doing. Little sore today but kinda figured I would be since that's the longest distance I've done so far.

Still on the slow side but makes me believe I will be able to do the Minnie w/o being swept.

Have a great day everyone!

Check back in a little while, Lily......it is going to be called "The worst race EVER!"

Jeanne: All I can say is ..... WOW, what a bad race! I would never do that one again! How much was registration? I would ask for my money back.....They didn't do anything for the cost! :scared1: :scared1:

Well, the rest of you Lean Meaners....how's it going? Don't we miss our dear Debra! I hope she is having a great b-day in WDW!

Things are going well so far today......we'll see if I get to do Pilates tonight. The day hasn't been the best for schedule purposes......you never know what life had in store for you, do you?

My plan is to do Pilates, and maybe the elliptical if I have time. We'll see, the family may have different plans :headache: :headache:

Hope everyone has a good day!

Beth
