Hiya

Well looks like I am going to be going part time at work, to help my sister out, Im going to be helpingher while she is being treated, which I feel good for doing and work is keeping my full time hours open.

Downside is how am I going to afford conceirge, looking changing I know again !

But what can I do shes my sister and she needs me more than I need a delux

just needed to talk

What a wonderful thing you are doing for your sister - good on you :thumbsup2

Sorry you'll have to change your plans again but conceirge can wait! It will just be even more special when you can afford it again :goodvibes Glad your work are been helpful.

It is good of you to help your sister out. However, I'm confused - I thought you were using the money you saved by not going to Rhodes to pay for your concierge and First Class next year :confused3

If you are going to be your sister's carer, I think there is some sort of allowance you can get - I don't know that much about it but it may be worth checking with the benefits agency.

rhodes only cost £700 and has gone to the flight upgrade which we are keeping, full time carers do get an allowance not sure about part time, (plus we will be taking her kids to dlrp in december as a treat)

I had to go home from work today as she has finally let some emotions through and is drained so I have the children.

can anyone suggest a moderate or value?

Pop Century - you have stayed there before so should know what to expect.

Anna - that is such a brave and kind thing you are doing for your sister :thumbsup2 It's great your employer is so understanding too. I would recommend POFQ it's a beautiful resort. Why not save conceirge for a special occassion like a honeymoon or anniversary! :teeth:

You can claim Invalid Care Allowance if you're over the age of 16 ,a carer for more than 35 hrs a week and earn less than around £84/week.

The person you're caring for must be in receipt of Attendance Allowance, or Disability Living Allowance (at the middle or highest rate for personal care), or Constant Attendance Allowance (at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit, or basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension).

I would suggest that you talk to Citizens Advice for information (I used to be a CAB volunteer) as, IMHO, they're more interested in actually helping you get anything you're entitled to than the DSS ;)

This is a good site for info:

Can't offer any advice on the hotel front but I will say that you mustn't forget to look after yourself in the midst of helping your sister :sunny:

It's easy to help everyone else to the point where you make yourself ill / despondent

What a lovely thing to do for your sister, Anna. That is so good of you. I agree with Alison, please make sure you look after yourself as well. :grouphug:

Thats a lovely thing your doing for your sister! Like others have said, concierge can wait, atleast you will really appreciate it next time.

If your looking for a nice moderate i love PO both areas are lovely!

What a wonderful thing to do.

I have heard great things about PO and a Disser who lives in Florida recommended it to me. POR is quieter where as FOFQ is more lively with lots of families. I think we are going to try POR when we go to get married next year.

I hope you Sister and family will be ok, you will be in my thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

Anna
I think you are doing a great thing for your sister and taking her kids to DLRP is a really lovely thing to do.
I can't give you any advice on the resorts but don't worry about conceierge it will still be there for your next trip

Just have to admit, at this point, that I am great at giving others, in similar situations, advice but am absolutely useless at doing it myself.............

Disneyland Paris sounds great fun for everyone :thumbsup2

Anna you are doing a very kind and brave thing looking after your sister. You are going to have to be very strong for her and yourslef so you will still need to make time for yourself. I can't give you anyadvice on where to stay as we only as we have only stayed in Movies and this year we are staying POP. For the amount of time you spend in the room we choose to stay budget and have extra money while we are there :)

I agree with Gill, conceirge can wait for a special occasion like a honeymoon, or a big celebration.

I will be thinking of you and your family and sending you lots of :wizard:

Don't forget when you need to chat we are all here to cheer you up :)

Hi

Well its a new day and I managed some sleep (alot of what ifs going through my mind in the night) I am at work for the morning today, as her husbands homel.

Me and Chris had a long chat about next years trip and have decided at staying at pop again, as we had a really good time there last year, so I have sent an e mail to change resort which I hope dosnt cost us anything. Everything else is staying the same.

Anna ~ Glad you got things sorted out.

Hope it all works out for you with changing your resort and good luck with caring for your sister.
