Because counting down is fun..

end of sept is my favorite time.
i have been in february, may, june, july, august , sept, october

when i go end of sept, anytime between the 25 - 30 i get the best of both worlds. i usually go for 12-14 days total so my time period is end of sept to 2nd week of october.

i hit disney first and get the value season. attend the food and wine festival and mnsshp. very low crowds until you hit oct 10. but by that time, i have checked out and at universal on site hotel.s

at universal i get three nights of hhn in. the parks are not crowded in the day time. city walk is not crowded until saturday night.

the weather is typically less rain and lower temps anywhere from 75 to 85.

i'll tell you all about my trip after it happens.

kids are in school less families in the parks.................

Thanks for the info!! For us it is a toss-up between the middle of Nov. and the end of Sept. Last year we went during Thanksgiving week, which was very nice! But it was a little too cool at night for me. I also thought we would be more likely to get a good room rate at the end of Sept. But then I was a little worried about the weather. The last week shouldn't be too bad though. I only wish we were going this year instead of next, but I know it will go by quickly!

the parks at both theme parks are low in mid to late september.
i think it is because many people stay away due to the threat of hurricanes.

i take the risk and have not had any weather issues the last three septembers i have went.

if you go in the summer, you WILL have thunderstorms frequently.

sept usually has good weather at the end of the month.
you don't need jackets in the evening time.

I love going to the parks in Sept. It is a bit cooler and you can walk on rides. I haven't been going lately because it is just too hot to enjoy anything.

Can you walk on the rides w/o FOTL? I'm taking a friend who has never been and I'm sort of using FOTL to persuade her to stay on-site....I don't want her to think she is wasting her $$. It's been crowded everytime I have been so FOTL is like a dream come true. Plus, it helps take the bite out of the hotel bill! :teeth:

last year i was at universal on the second week of oct.

the year prior, i was there sept 20 and yes, the fotl was necessary.

people say it is walk on rides in sept but not always, depends on the days you go. when i go for hhn, i am at universal for thur, frid, sat, sun , mon during the day.......weekends are crowded.

when i went mid sept. the mon, tues, wed had smaller crowds but thur on to the weekend, the fotl saved us a lot of wait times.

if your friend does not want to stay on site, she can use the free express passes or buy the express pass plus. you are in the same line with them for the rides.......only one express pass lane

Thanks so much for the info. She says she'll do whatever I want, but it's just been hard for me in the past to take someone who hasn't experienced the on-site hotels. I think the other benefits (walking to the parks, atmosphere, ammenities, etc.) are great also. I love everything about it, and FOTL is like icing on the cake!! I'm sure after she goes once, she'll agree that it's a great way to do the parks. I'm still thinking with an AP for me and AAA for her, we can get a little better rate at that time of year. :smooth:

i used my AAA for a better rate, and my gold loews card for the free upgrade of room at hard rock hotel for this coming october.

depending on the date/month you stay on site says a LOT about the price of the room.

if i went in sept this fall, it would be cheaper than what i am paying.
going oct 7 and my cost is 224 a night. hhn is going on and the hrh is sold out on two of the weekends.
supply and demand..........you want it, they got it..........for a price.

there is hardly any walking by staying at hrh. use the shortcut and at the park in 4 minutes.
stay at rpb and a walk will take yu maybe 8 minutes.
take the water taxi and it gets you there within 4 minutes. that is unless you miss the boat and have to wait for its return.

and they have busses. i road the bus twice to see the fronts of all the hotels in the daytime and in the nightlme.
beautiful hotels, all of them

Do you just keep checking the rates? I've read about people's rates changing even as close to a week before they leave. I keep calling the res. line but 2006 Promotional rates aren't out yet.

two weekends in october are sold out for hrh. one of those weekends is the one i am going.

i can't check the rates anymore on the website as it gives me a message no vacancy and chose another time period.

the last time i called universal resorts was two weeks ago for the rates.
they highly doubt the AAA rate i have for oct will decrease as no rooms in the inn right now.

Anyone else counting down to HHN ???

if you are as obsessed as i am, then, that is your site for the facts and fun.

i make my vacation around hhn dates. i jeopardize my job to leave town to attend hhn. what more can i say, i am a hhn addict.
