Beavers build expensive dams

LOL! I think I need to adopt a beaver!

WOW! We have 5 beaver dams on some of our East Texas property which is only 30 miles from Louisiana. Hmmmm.....we should do a dam inspection, huh?

We've spent over $200 trapping 3 beavers on our property.

They are unbelievably destructive.

They cut down about 20 pine trees that we planted, dammed up our ponds, and caused major erosion and drainage damage on our farm.

To us, the only good beaver is a dead beaver (sorry all you animal lovers) . . .

Are they sure that the beavers didn't find that money tree that our mothers' always told us didn't exist? :jester:

I'm with ya Deb. My DBIL owns 50 acres in the mountains that we hunt. Beavers moved in and before you knew it, the whole bottom acreage was flooded. What a mess. He had a trapper come in and get rid of them. One of them was huge, well over 50 pounds.

I once saw a road-killed beaver being dissected in a college lab.

I won't go into details. :)

I wonder if they taste like chicken?????:scratchin  :crazy2:

Deb, our land and creek and beaver dams are out in the middle of nowhere so we let them go about their business.

I think they are good for reforestation. East Texas has been all but clear cut in some areas.

LOL-I didn't even know we had beavers down here until I saw this on the news today. I'm trying to figure out what on earth possessed the beavers to look in the bag?????
