Discuss how you feel about the dove beauty campaign.

I really love that campaign!
But honestly, I don't think it's going to do much.

It's ONE company doing ONE campaign, it's not going to change the entire showbiz industry (thought I wish it would)

I try to look up to women with a positive body image, both in and out of the media. But it's hard, it's hard to ignore all the skinny, "beautiful" starlets look today. It's everywhere really, in EVERY ad except the Dove Campaign we are exposed to the "ideal" beauty that is presented to us.

As a hopeful actress I am CONSTANTLY thinking that I am not "beautiful" enough to be successful in that industry.
My skin is NOT perfect
I have a tummy
I have thunder thighs
I have bad hair days
I am short
And those things make me feel inferior to all the prettier girls I see around.

But as I'm getting older I am trying to embrace those things and tell myself that I am beautiful. I do a good job most of the time.
But when you're exposed to all the ridiculously high beauty standrards of the media today, it's really hard.

One thing about the Dove campaign is that they are all nameless faces. We don't know who those women are, they are not household names, they are not famous in any way (other than being in those ads) I think that is somewhat discouraging, because I'm still thinking that to actually make a name for myself, I have to be the stupid skinny, make up fake "beautiful".
Until THey start putting somewhat famous people in those ads, they are just, there.
I know that probably sounds superficial, like "Well, I won't believe it until someone famous tells me" But really, for me, it's true.
When I can see someone who is an actress, like I want to be, then it will give me motivation and inspire me. Because that's what I want to be.

But I do wish more companies would take a page from Dove's book and give us some more beautiful "real" women to look at.

I hope that made sense and wasn't just "ramble-y"

I'm 18. All my life so far the media has done an incredible job of making me feel like the ugliest person alive. 18 years...one campaign will not change 18 years of influence on my state of mind.

no one can make you feel inferior unless you let them.

i don't care what people think about me. sure i'm not skinny or pretty. but who am i to care? and who are they to judge me? they're not perfect either.

this is my favorite quote of all time.

"Next time you think you're perfect, try walking on water."
