My DS was watching a youtube and heard that the Beauty and the Beast show, DHS, maybe getting redone this summer 2012 or closed for good.

Anyone have more info ?

Date to be shut down for a revamping or closure ?

DH loves the show - a must do every time we go to DHS.

hmmm well its hardly been worth going to see since 4 for a dollar were victims of cost cutting anyway.:confused3:rolleyes:

Dont know anything about this but I hope they just revamp it and not close it for good:scared1:. My kids would be sad to see it go.

there has been paperwork filed for an expansion...now what that exactly means? who knows :rolleyes1

This rumor has popped up a few times coming off of YouTube. Outside of that source I have not heard it mentioned anywhere. Since I would not consider YouTube to be a reliable source, I would say the rumor has little foundation. They have not announced any refurbs for this summer for it, and they've already announced a refurb for Test Track, so my guess would be the rumor is false as there is no scheduled closing or downtime for this show. It's still pretty darn popular.

The expansion talks about land behind the stage being added to the theater. Maybe they are just adding back stage locations.

It would be quite a bit of work to move the stage back to expand seating area.

You can see that the expansion work has already begun from Google Earth. I would say that it is not going to affect the seating volume from the picture. But who knows, maybe they are building a new backstage first, and then they'll add on to the front? Might be a big hint of a new show that requires more back stage space for props and affects or maybe they're just supersizing the whole thing to increase volume?

Honestly I'd like to see it replaced by a Tangled show.

Ugh...no thanks. I liked the movie a lot, but the songs were somewhere between bland and forgettable. Though I guess I have to admit it would be nice to see the show change up once in a while.

How about if they upgraded the effects so that they are slightly above high school production. The whole "having the prince turn into a beast behind a blanket" thing. Really? You charge $85 to get in here? And while they are at it, do the same for the Little Mermaid.

the whole blanket thing was how it was done on broadway/tour too....

I can 100% confirm for you it is a backstage area for CM's. If you exit Fantasmic through the long road, you can see it behind the walls. It is the reason that the dinner package for the show does not enter that way any more.

A backstage area for CMs to do what?
Is it the new promotion selection process? Two CMs are chosen from each park to duke it out, winner takes all?

I'm just going to jump in and say that I doubt it's getting closed this summer as they JUST had auditions for the vocalists and are having dancer auditions in April. To hire a bunch of new performers just to close the show in a few months wouldn't really make sense

It is going to be a break room, but there is also a wheelchair and stroller repair area right now back there.

Really? It's been so long since I've seen it. It just got me thinking of the other "blanket reveal" when he turns back to the Prince. Big dramatic moment. Belle sobbing and...

...out comes the blanket! Nothing to see here! Just passing through!

C'mon, you've been showing this in the same theater for 10+ years, you can't put in a trap door?

DH and 90 of his "closest friends" (alias his choir + chaperones) just returned last weekend and many who saw this said they didn't care for it. It didn't even have the theme song!
My DH, DS1 DS2, and I saw it three years ago and really wasn't impressed either.

Boy, I hope not because it's one of my favorites. It's always a must do for us!
