Beauty and the Beast

Know what's worse? I remember the ticket only cost $4.

I remember seeing it with friends from school at one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters in Connecticut. My father used to take us all squished into his Saab. Those of you who remember the classic Saabs know what kind of space we were working with! I think Beauty and the Beast was running on a double-bill with Rockadoodle.

If this is the only chance to see it in theaters now it might be worth tring... they do have one theater in our town showing it, but the description sounds more like a bunch of clips and commentary, not the full movie...

I could have sworn I saw the preview of it coming out again in theaters on one of the newer DVD releases or during a preview at a movie. I was thinking it said October, but now I wonder if it was just the DVD of it all along and I misunderstood. I would love for it to be out in the theaters again because it is DD's favorite movie (besides Monsters Inc that is) and I know she would be in awe seeing it on the big screen.

I was out in IMAX about 8 1/2 years ago because I was about 4 or 5 months pregnant with DD when we saw it on IMAX on a quick trip to Myrtle Beach and I always have said that is why it was immediately one of her favorite movies. Hard to believe she will turn 8 this coming Saturday.

No, they've been teasing us with it being back in theaters in 3D for over a year but keep pushing it back - it was going to be Valentine's Day 2009, then moved back to October/November and now is pushed back indefinitely or never. Only the Bluray/DVD is being release this October.

FYI - Disney Movie Rewards is offering $10 off the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack for current owners of Beauty and the Beast on VHS or DVD. :thumbsup2 VHS are those really, really "old" black plastic things that are buried in the basement. Geez, I feel old too!!

Anyone can get $10 off on it, like every other Disney release lately, not just previous owners. :thumbsup2

I just read a *glowing* review of the Blu-ray disc in Home Theater Magazine. (a publication held in high regard by us A/V nerds... ;) )

Unfortunately, it's not online yet, so I can't provide the link. But, a couple of the quotes were along the lines of "Perfection - By far the best animation I've ever seen on Blu-ray - Stunning." "My jaw was on the floor for the entire 90 minutes ! " And this is from a reviewer that usually doesn't gush about *anything*.

Also, according to the article, the 3-D theater release has been put on hold indefinitely as of press time.

I remember watching beauty and the beast with my nephew and youngest sister. We had so much fun.. wish to see it in the big screen..it would be a lot better. But now she's all grown up, don't know if she likes to watch it still :)

I would expect nothing less. All of Disney's (including Pixar, of course) Bluray releases are reference quality. It doesn't get any better (animated or live action).
